UGA football’s two opening kickoff times finalized

The Georgia Bulldogs will open their season against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. They face the Auburn Tigers in Week 2.

The Georgia Bulldogs will open their season against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.

It will be a reunion between Kirby Smart and Sam Pittman, Georgia’s former offensive line coach, who will make his debut as head coach for Arkansas.

Historically, Georgia is 10-4 against the Razorbacks. The Bulldogs won their previous trip to Little Rock, Arkansas, 45-32. UGA has won seven of its last eight against Arkansas (lone defeat was in 2010). Georgia defeated Arkansas 30-3 in the 2002 SEC Championship Game.

In addition to the season opener against Arkansas, Georgia’s kickoff time against the Auburn Tigers has been set for 7:30 p.m. The Oct. 3 home opener at Sanford Stadium will be a night game, but without the normal electric environment.

The Auburn game will be televised on ESPN. It will be the 125th edition of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. Georgia leads the all-time series 60-56-8 over the Tigers.

Smart and UGA have defeated Auburn in the teams’ past three games. Georgia won 21-14 at Auburn last season and hasn’t lost to the Tigers in Athens since 2005.

The Bulldogs have won eight of the last 10 games in the rivalry.

Here are the SEC Network’s TV times for the opening two weeks of the college football season.

Georgia football play of the day

Watch the Georgia football play of the day here!

Happy Friday DawgNation! Today’s play of the day comes from Georgia versus Florida in 1985.

Florida entered it’s 1985 match up with Georgia as the No. 1 ranked team in the country and riding an NCAA leading 18 straight wins.

Georgia would spoil Florida’s first week ever at the top a news-agency poll, allowing only 28 rushing yards on 30 Florida carries and adding three rushing touchdowns on offense in a blowout 24-3 win.

Georgia running back Tim Worley had the play of the game, tying Johnny Griffith for the longest rushing touchdown in Georgia history.

Watch Worley’s touchdown narrated by Bulldog legend Larry Munson here:

“Worley touchdown!”

UGA football’s 2020 schedule

The 2020 college football schedule for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Opponent Location Stadium Date (Time if scheduled*)
Virginia Cavaliers Atlanta, Georgia Mercedes Benz Monday, Sept. 7th
East Tennessee State Buccaneers Athens, Georgia Sanford September 12th
Alabama Crimson Tide Tuscaloosa, Alabama Bryant-Denny September 19th
UL-Monroe Warhawks Athens, Georgia Sanford September 26th
Vanderbilt Commodores Athens, Georgia Sanford October 3rd
Auburn Tigers Athens, Georgia Sanford October 10th
Missouri Tigers Columbia, Missouri Memorial October 17th
Florida Gators Jacksonville, Florida TIAA Bank Field October 31st (3:30)
South Carolina Gamecocks Columbia, South Carolina Williams-Brice November 7th
Tennessee Volunteers Athens, Georgia Sanford November 14th
Kentucky Wildcats Lexington, Kentucky Kroger Field November 21st
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Athens, Georgia Sanford November 28th

What is the toughest three game stretch for the University of Georgia? Is it Florida, at South Carolina, then home versus Tennessee or home versus Auburn, at Missouri, then the bye week before playing Florida?

Any three game stretch involving Alabama is difficult too. Georgia plays three games in a compacted stretch since they open on a Monday.
