The Georgia Bulldogs have added a commitment from defensive tackle recruit Shone Washington. Washington is ranked as a three-star defensive lineman and is a member of the class of 2022.

Washington has received interest from USC, Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, and more. Washington originally committed to the in-state LSU Tigers, but later backed off his decision.

Shone Washington announced his commitment to Georgia over Florida via Twitter:

The three-star defensive tackle prospect will be planning to enroll at UGA early and will sign with the Dawgs on Dec. 15. Washington is Kirby Smart and Georgia’s 24th commitment in the class of 2022. UGA has the No. 1-rated class of 2022 in the country.

Georgia has commitments from four defensive linemen in the class of 2022, so they are likely set at the position unless there is a decommitment.

Sedrick Van Pran, a former four-star center and UGA sophomore from the class of 2020, went to Warren Easton High School, which is the same high school as Shone Washington in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Washington sat out the 2019 high school season due to transfer rules. Washington has impressive size at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for four-star defensive end recruit Marvin Jones Jr.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for four-star defensive end recruit Marvin Jones Jr., who plays football for American Heritage High School in Florida. Marvin Jones Jr. is the son of former Florida State football star Marvin Jones.

His father, Marvin Jones, was a first-round pick for the New York Jets. Jones recorded over 1,000 total tackles over his NFL career, which spanned from 1993-2003.

Jones Jr. will look to create his own legacy in college football. He is a member of the class of 2022. He won a state championship for American Heritage in 2020.

Marvin Jones Jr. has received scholarship offers from elite programs like Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Tennessee, Florida State, Miami and more. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound linebacker would project as a 3-4 outside linebacker in Georgia’s system.

The American Heritage standout announced his top five schools via his Twitter account:

4-star LB Shemar James decommits from Florida

Four-star linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators after a visit to UGA.

Four-star class of 2022 linebacker recruit Shemar James has decommitted from the Florida Gators. James originally picked the Gators on June 20, but has backed off his initial decision.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide were among the top contenders for James, who visited Georgia for the Kentucky game. The four-star outside linebacker prospect plays football for Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is ranked the No. 10 linebacker in the country and the No. 70 overall recruit. James is the No. 4 player in Alabama.

It is always hard to win a recruiting battle for top in-state players against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

James plays wide receiver and outside linebacker. His team looks to get him the ball in space anyway it can. He sometimes lines up in the backfield. It is rare to see a wide receiver who plays defensive end/outside linebacker, but James has the size to star in both positions at the high school level.

James projects to be a pass rushing outside linebacker in college. He has excellent speed and could be a big-time difference maker in the SEC.

The four-star linebacker announced his decommitment via his Twitter account:

James was Florida’s top commitment in the class of 2022. The Gators have the 18th-ranked recruiting class in the country.

Will James be the latest player UGA has flipped? Or will the four-star linebacker commit to the Crimson Tide. Florida will still pursue James as well.

Georgia football looking to flip five-star DT

Will Mykel Williams and other USC Trojans class of 2022 commitments stick with the program after Clay Helton’s firing?

The Georgia Bulldogs were among the schools seeking a commitment from elite defensive tackle recruit Mykel Williams, but Williams committed to the USC Trojans in June.

Now, things have changed with the USC football program following their rough 42-28 loss to Stanford. The Trojans fired head coach Clay Helton, who has been on the hot seat for a long time, following the loss.

Who will be the next head coach of the Southern California Trojans? Georgia’s Dan Lanning could be a target with the way the UGA defense has played in 2021. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Will Mykel Williams and other USC Trojans class of 2022 commitments stick with the program? USC has a lot of allure regardless of their coach, but the program will be in transition and hasn’t performed up to standards in recent seasons.

Mykel Williams is a five-star defensive tackle from Columbus, Georgia, who stars for Hardaway High School.

The Georgia defense has been extremely impressive to start the 2021 college football season. UGA has displayed a powerful recruiting message on the defensive side of the field. The Bulldogs defense has more sacks (10) and points off defensive touchdowns (14) than points allowed (three). Georgia’s lone touchdown given up this season was a pick-six.

At Hardaway, Mykel Williams has played both offensive and defensive line. He is a sack artist that shows explosive closing speed on defense. Williams has positional versatility along the defensive line, where he lines up at defensive tackle and defensive end. Williams does a solid job of getting his hands up in passing lanes to deflect passes. He should earn early playing time in college.

Williams committed to USC over Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Williams is ranked the No. 5 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 3 player in Georgia according to the 247Sports composite. Williams is expected to continue taking visits this fall.

Can Kirby Smart and company land a commitment from the talented in-state defensive lineman? We will provide updates as Mykel Williams re-evaluates his recruitment following USC’s coaching change.
