The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for four-star wide receiver recruit Andre Greene Jr.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for four-star wide receiver recruit Andre Greene Jr., who is ranked the No. 9 receiver in the class of 2022.

Greene Jr. named his top three schools of Clemson, UNC, and UGA. He announced his top schools and commitment date of Nov. 17 via his Twitter account:

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound receiver out of St. Christopher’s School (Richmond, Virginia) ranks No. 71 nationally and as the third-best prospect in Virginia per 247Sports.

He is slated to play in the Under Armour All-America Game in 2022.

Greene Jr. had an incredible one-handed catch during his high school career. You don’t see many catches better than this one:

Greene Jr. was also considering Oregon, Penn State, FSU and Notre Dame before narrowing down his top schools. The four-star wide receiver will be an excellent addition to UNC, Clemson, or Georgia’s class of 2022.

Where will he go? Kirby Smart and Georgia already have commitments from three wide receivers in the class of 2022.

Kirby Smart extends invite to Braves for UGA game

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has extended an invitation to Atlanta Braves players and their mascot, Blooper, to the Georgia game.

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart has extended an invitation to Atlanta Braves players and their mascot, Blooper, to attend the Georgia-Missouri game on Nov. 6.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Houston Astros in six games to win the 2021 World Series on Nov. 2. The Braves won their first World Series since 1995.

It remains to be seen if Braves players, coaches or the mascot will take Kirby Smart up on his offer. Several Braves players like Dansby Swanson, Will Smith and Terrance Gore were born in Georgia.

No current Braves players are former Georgia Bulldogs. In fact, there are only four former Georgia Bulldogs, who are currently active players in the MLB.

Could Georgia be the next team in the state to win a championship?

The Atlanta Braves winning the World Series does take some of the pressure off the Georgia Bulldogs. There will no longer be as many folks referring to a statewide Georgia sports curse.

Kirby Smart and Georgia are the No. 1 team in the country, but know that they must continue to improve one day at a time if they want to play for a College Football Playoff championship.

Three plays that mattered: Georgia vs. Kentucky

Three plays that mattered from the Kentucky at Georgia game. UGA won thanks to a dominant defense, solid offense and a few big plays.

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, 30-13, in Athens on Oct. 16. The Dawgs looked like the No. 1 team in the country and built a 30-7 lead in their victory.

Kentucky fought hard and kept it close in the first half, but Kirby Smart and Georgia came out stronger in the second half. Stetson Bennett looked particularly comfortable throwing down the field in the second half.

Bennett finished averaging 12.5 yards per passing attempt. His favorite target was freshman tight end Brock Bowers, who showed off his impressive ability to track the football.

Here’s three plays that mattered from the Kentucky-Georgia game:

Kendall Milton’s fumble recovery

Georgia Bulldogs running back Kendall Milton recovered a seemingly pedestrian incomplete pass late in the first quarter. Milton hustled past several closer Kentucky defenders and picked up the football.

Referees are instructed to rule plays as fumbles if it is not obvious. In this case, the referees ruled the play on the field as a fumble. Stetson Bennett’s hand went forward without the football, but at first glance the play looked like an incomplete pass due to how far forward the ball traveled. Upon further review, the play stood as a fumble.

Milton’s recovery gave UGA a manageable third down. UGA scored its first points on the next play.

UGA has 18 commitments in the class of 2022, but only two of the Dawgs’ commits are offensive linemen. Georgia will certainly look to add a few more. Will Bah be the next offensive line prospect to commit to Georgia?

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Lawrence Cager has signed with the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad.

Lawrence Cager was unable to make the Jets’ 53-man roster to start the season. Now, he’s found a new NFL home in Cleveland. The 24-year-old has impressive contested catch ability.  Cager is a receiving target in the red zone due to his size. At 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, the former Georgia Bulldog can cause mismatches.

Georgia vs Arkansas kickoff time, TV announced

Georgia vs Arkansas kickoff time, TV announced

Georgia’s October 2 game against Arkansas now has an official kickoff time and TV network, the SEC announced.

The game between the Bulldogs and Razorbacks will kickoff at 12pm ET and will air on ESPN. It will be played in Athens, Georgia.

This came as a rather unexpected time slot for the game, as it very well could end up being a ranked matchup between two SEC programs.

At the moment, Georgia is ranked No. 2 overall with Arkansas at No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Georgia will likely still hold its No. 2 spot, with an easy game against an inferior Vanderbilt program this weekend. Arkansas plays Texas A&M this Saturday. If the Razorbacks win, this will be a top-15 matchup.

Georgia and Arkansas have met 15 times, with UGA leading the series 11-4. The two teams met last year in September, a game Georgia won 37-10.

5 reasons why Georgia beats South Carolina

UGA takes on South Carolina Saturday night in Athens. Here’s 5 reasons why Georgia walks away with the win.

Georgia is set to take on South Carolina this Saturday night. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. for the SEC opener, which will be the first night game in Sanford Stadium since 2019.

The Gamecocks come to Athens in rebuilding mode. Former Georgia assistant Shane Beamer is at the helm, replacing new Georgia special teams coordinator Will Muschamp in Columbia.

South Carolina is led by graduate assistant quarterback Zeb Noland as former starter Luke Doty is recovering from an injury suffered in fall camp. The Gamecocks are coming off of a 20-17 win over East Carolina in week-two.

On the other side, Georgia is dealing with its own quarterback injury problems. Star J.T. Daniels missed last week with a core injury and Stetson Bennett, who stepped in and played great in Daniels place versus UAB, is dealing with a minor back injury.

Coach Kirby Smart was optimistic about both Daniels and Bennett’s status in his weekly press conference on Tuesday, but we probably won’t know who will lead the Bulldogs until Saturday.

Even with the offensive questions, Georgia’s defense is good enough to make up the slack.

Here’s five reasons why UGA beats the Gamecocks this weekend.

Georgia QB Stetson Bennett is SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Stetson Bennett named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Georgia fans were not happy to see Stetson Bennett announced as the starter vs UAB with JT Daniels sidelined due to injury. They wanted redshirt freshman Carson Beck.

But Bennett got the start, and played the best game of his career.

His 10-for-12 for 288 yards and 5 touchdowns vs UAB were enough to earn him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

From SECSports.com

  • In his sixth career start and first since game six of last year, Bennett torched UAB to tie a school record with five touchdown passes (all in the opening half) after going 10-for-12 for 288 yards

  • Bennett started his day 5-for-5 with four scoring strikes of 73, 12, 89 and 61 yards as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 35-0 halftime edge

  • His scoring pass to freshman tight end Brock Bowers for 89 yards was the ninth-longest passing play in Georgia history

  • Bennett finished the game with a monstrous pass efficiency rating of 422.4
