Garth Brooks offers Travis Kelce a Friends in Low Places duet after hysterical, drunken Chiefs parade performance

This could be spectacular.

Sometimes, altering song lyrics while completely plastered gets you stares from strangers, but if you’re Travis Kelce, it gets you an invite from Garth Brooks to sing.

Travis was full of liquid courage when he recently sang a custom version of Friends in Low Places during the Chiefs Super Bowl parade. The version was so, uh, unique that, per Natalie Neysa Alund of USA TODAY, Garth Brooks has invited Travis to sing his famous song with him at the grand opening of the Friends in Low Places Bar and Honky Tonk on March 7. If Travis accepts — which would mean pausing his time with Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour — Garth offered to send a plane to pick him up.

Garth’s connection to Kansas City goes well beyond Travis’ cover of the song. For several years, the Kansas City Royals played Friends in Low Places during their sixth inning, and Brooks has recorded numerous videos for the team to play on the jumbotron as fans sang along.

Top 10 musical artists that need to perform at Notre Dame Stadium

Who do you want to see play in South Bend?

According to the website setlist.fm, Johnny Cash was the first artist to play at Notre Dame Stadium in 1977. That would be the last musical performance at the stadium until Chicago played at halftime of the Irish’s 2017 game against USC. Since then, Chicago has come back for one other game, and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have played there twice apiece. Weezer appeared there for the 2019 Winter Classic, and Billy Joel played a full show there in 2022.

Other than that, Notre Dame Stadium has a very paltry history when it comes to hosting big musical acts. I don’t know or care what’s behind that. I just want to see Notre Dame Stadium become a hot spot for concerts like most other stadiums around the world are when they don’t have games to host. Plus, such things only can be a boost to South Bend’s economy, and those shouldn’t have to happen only during football season.

Here are 10 artists I believe need to add Notre Dame Stadium to their next tour:

Remember the post-Garth grass replacement? Now not happening

Donald W. Reynolds Stadium won’t get a field replacement after all.

This is why we can’t have new things.

OK, well, except in this case, it’s kind of a good thing.

Back, the Arkansas athletic department released word that Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium was going to have its grass replaced following Garth Brooks’ concert there later in the month.

Turns out, no such thing will happen. The thinking was the field would be badly damaged because of the foot-traffic for the stadium show. Plastic was placed on top of the grass at the time for the more 8,000 attendees who were on the field.

Arkansas’ practice turf field is still being replaced and it began on the weekend. It’s likely to be finished in mid-July.

The Razorbacks open the season September 3 against Cincinnati.

Garth Brooks playing ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’ at Notre Dame Stadium was a choice

Perhaps read the room?

There are sometimes in life that the people you may like the most really let you down and Saturday night was one of those nights for me.

I’ve always been a Garth Brooks fan.  I don’t care what your thoughts are about country music (much of it now is complete trash) but Garth has long rocked and continues to rock.

But someone – Garth, or a member of his team made a brutal mistake Saturday night as the star played at Notre Dame Stadium for the second time.

Brooks rocked out to one of his biggest hits, “Callin’ Baton Rouge” and the audience exploded as they do whenever a musical act plays a hit.  You can see the video of the performance below and as you’d expect, Garth knocked it out of the park.

And hear me out, on its own that song rocks, but who signed off on it being played?  I won’t pretend to think Garth Brooks is some mega college football fan in the know on everything that goes down but how does someone of power not step in and veto that one being played after what transpired this past off-season?

Especially after his performance of that song led to an earthquake being registered at Tiger Stadium a week ago.

Perhaps read the room.

Or check out the former Notre Dame head coach’s Twitter header.

Boy, I really hope [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] doesn’t see this.

(Kidding…sorta 😉

When I’m named his manager you can bet your last two pina coladas that he’ll instead just play “Shameless” twice.

Garth Brooks returning to Notre Dame Stadium

Will he play ‘Callin’ Baton Rouge’?

Country music legend Garth Brooks, who performed the first concert in the history of Notre Dame Stadium back in 2018, is returning to the “The House that Rockne Built” this spring.  Brooks will perform at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, May 7 at at 7 p.m. ET.  Tickets for the concert will go on sale Friday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. ET.

The concert will be the only of 77 tour stops Brooks is making that will take place in Indiana, Illinois, or Michigan.

“I’ll say it again, Notre Dame Stadium is built for concerts,” Brooks said. “Because this place is so special, I asked to come back to Notre Dame. We are bringing a whole different stage and show from last time. I could NOT be more excited!”

-Garth Brooks

I for one am a huge fan of Garth.  I don’t know if that means I’ll be in attendance in May but I’m certainly not against the idea.  What I’m most curious about is if he’ll perform “Callin’ Baton Rouge” again since it slaps a bit differently around South Bend these days.

Watch: Brian Kelly’s latest cringe-worthy video

Cringeworthy.

Brian Kelly wasted no time turning into an internet sensation after taking the LSU job.  Just two days after agreeing to terms with Louisiana State University his accent had already changed by the time he addressed fans at a home basketball game.

Related: Internet roasts Brian Kelly for voice at LSU basketball game

It has nothing to do with his voice but Brian Kelly is again making plenty cringe with his latest viral sensation.

Walker Howard, one of the nation’s top quarterbacks in the 2022 recruiting class and a player Notre Dame pursued, reaffirmed his commitment to LSU Sunday night ahead of the early signing period.  He posted the video on Twitter with him and Brian Kelly and all I can say is make sure you watch it with your sound turned up.

Perhaps the worst thing about all of this is that I’ll never be able to hear Garth Brooks’s “Callin’ Baton Rouge” the same ever again after all of this and that stings because that song kicks.

Meanwhile Brian Kelly’s rivalry with being normal continues.

Auburn fans recall their favorite concerts held at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum

Beard-Eaves has seen some major acts come through over the years.

Beard Eaves Memorial Coliseum opened up on January 11, 1969 with a historic win over an LSU team led by Pistol Pete Maravich.

Barry Sanders, Garth Brooks joke about running for president in 2020 after Bernie Sanders jersey mixup

Barry-Brooks for 2020.

The great Bernie/Barry Sanders jersey mixup of 2020 ended with a (joking) presidential ticket that lots of people are getting behind.

A reminder: country music legend Garth Brooks posted a photo of himself wearing a Barry Sanders jersey while performing in Detroit, and a lot of people criticized him, thinking it was a show of support for potential presidential nominee Bernie Sanders, which led me to believe that not enough people have sat down and watched Barry Sanders highlight videos, something everyone should do.

Anyway! Barry responded to all this hoopla by reaching out to Brooks and asked if he wanted to be his vice president:

Brooks responded:

And some people are actually into this Barry-Brooks ticket:

Garth Brooks fans confused his Barry Sanders jersey with a Bernie Sanders jersey, and lost it on him

People got confused by a “SANDERS 20” shirt and got very, very mad at Garth Brooks.

We live in a time where everything feels immediate and of the now. We are bombarded with news 24/7, and feel like we must instantly have an opinion on whatever is trending the latest.

So you can perhaps forgive fans of Garth Brooks who were astounded when he posted a photo of him wearing a jersey that said “SANDERS 20” on the back for a Detroit show. See: There is a man named Bernie Sanders who is running for president in 2020.

There is also the most famous football player in Detroit Lions history, Barry Sanders, who wore the number 20. One half second of thought should probably tell these people that Brooks wasn’t using his Detroit concert to offer an endorsement in the 2020 election, but instead just wearing a Barry Sanders jersey.

Some people did not give this a half second of thought. They lost it on Brooks, swearing him off for a presidential endorsement he almost certainly was not making.

Here’s the post:

And here are some of the comments from Instagram.

(Apparently Facebook had plenty as well.)

Anyway, people should look up Barry Sanders highlights. He was very good at football.
