Texas Football Recruiting: No. 2 outside linebacker in 2022 class puts Texas in top 10

Texas has made the top 10 for 2022 outside linebacker Jalon Walker. A four-star prospect, UT is the only Big 12 school to make the cut.

Texas has made the top 10 for 2022 outside linebacker Jalon Walker. A four-star prospect on the 247Sports composite, the Longhorns are the only Big 12 school to make the cut.

Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Texas A&M have also made Walker’s top 10.

Walker is the No. 2 overall outside linebacker in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports composite. Nationally, he ranks No. 41 and is also the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina.

Receiving 24 offers overall, big-time schools such as South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech were cut.

Texas offered Walker back in May, giving him his one and only offer from a Big 12 school. Although Tom Herman prefers to recruit in-state prospects, he has begun to go after elite out-of-state players in the 2022 class.

As things stand, five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and four-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson make up Texas’ 2022 class. The Longhorns will be looking to coupe the best recruiting year Herman has had since being hired in 2017.

It seems as if Ohio State is making the strongest push for Walker right now. The Buckeyes already have commitments from three linebackers in their 2022 class, including five-star Gabe Powers, four-star Dasan McCullough, and four-star C.J. Hicks.

Texas football pursuing four-star athlete from Oklahoma

Texas football is now pursuing a four-star playmaker out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

It’s not easy to sway a top prospect out of state when he’s already received offers from in-state schools such as Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Four-star athlete AJ Green is a standout defensive back and running back from Union High School in Tulsa. According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 2 prospect in the state of Oklahoma out of the 2021 recruiting class.

Crystal Ball predictions currently show the Sooners as the favorite to sign Green, but the Longhorns could make a late push to land this special playmaker.

Four-star Texas commit will play in 2021 Under Armour All-America game

Four-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders recently committed to playing in the 2021 Under Armour All-America game.

It’s been an exciting week for the Denton Ryan duo of four-star athletes Ja’tavion Sanders and Billy Bowman.

The two Texas commits have each been invited to play in one of the top invite-only All-Star Games in 2021. Bowman announced his invite to the Adidas All-American Bowl yesterday, while Sanders committed to playing in the Under Armour All-America game this morning.

According to 247Sports, Sanders is listed as the No. 1 ranked athlete in the state of Texas for the 2021 recruiting class. Currently the No. 14 overall player in the nation, Sanders verbally committed to Texas in September of last year.

He’s a high-motor player who can play on both sides of the ball, although major recruiting sites list him as an edge defender. Sanders has an incredible opportunity to showcase his talents in the All-America game amidst the nations top players.

With an impressive showing, the 6-3.5, 220 pound playmaker could legitimately become a five-star prospect by the end of his recruiting cycle.
