Four-star cornerback from California puts Texas in top seven

2021 CB Jamier Johnson has cut his school list down to seven, with Texas making the cut. Johnson is ranked the 19th CB in the country.

2021 cornerback Jamier Johnson has cut his school list down to seven, with the Longhorns making the cut. At the moment, 247’s crystal ball has no predictions for where the defensive back will end up.

The Longhorns have been hot on the recruiting trail for cornerbacks in 2021, offering 17 prospects. Four of them have come from the state of California, trying to get some talent from the Los Angeles area.

Tom Hermans’ 2020 recruiting class was dominated by kids from the state of Texas and he may be looking for a couple more out of state kids in 2021. No better place to look than California, especially for a cornerback.

Four-star defensive end to decide between Texas and Texas A&M

Another in-state player will be choosing between Texas and Texas A&M, as Jordan Thomas has announced the two rivals as his final two.

Since Texas A&M left for the SEC after the 2011 season, recruiting in the state of Texas has become how the rivalry has stayed alive. The Longhorns won the battle in 2020, signing five of the top 30 players from the state and 18 players overall.

Now, another in-state player will be choosing between Texas and Texas A&M, as Jordan Thomas has announced the two rivals as his final two choices.

The four-star defensive end from Port Arthur had offers from other Texas schools such as Baylor, Houston, TCU, and SMU, while LSU and Southern Miss were also interested. Coming in at 6-3 240 pounds, Thomas is the 15th best wide defensive end in the 2021 class.

If Thomas were to pick Texas, he would be the second defensive prospect in the 2021 class, joining outside linebacker Derrick Harris Jr.

Not only would this commitment mean the Longhorns are picking up a great defensive end, but it would be another win over the Aggies on the recruiting trail. Dominating the state of Texas has become the new standard for Tom Herman and securing Thomas further confirms the Longhorns win in-state battles.

Notre Dame Safety Target Chooses Biggest Rival

USC is also the top ranked Pac-12 team on in those rankings which hasn’t been the case the last couple of seasons under Clay Helton.

With no football being actually played or practiced right now it has left us looking more into recruiting, both good and bad.  As Notre Dame and every other football program continue full steam ahead to piece together their 2021 classes, the Irish did miss out on one safety target after he announced his decision Friday.

Xamarion Gordon, a four-star safety from Warren High School in Downey, California will stay in his home state and meet up with the Fighting Irish annually.

It remains early in recruiting based off of the amount of big-time players that are yet to announce their decisions but USC is off to a very good start now with six commitments in their class and are currently ranked 11th nationally on 247Sports.  They also are the top ranked Pac-12 team on in those rankings which hasn’t been the case the last couple of seasons under Clay Helton.

Texas Football Recruiting: Longhorns to host WR duo

The Texas Longhorns are hosting a duo of four-star receivers from the state of Florida. Should they land either, it would ascend the class.

As the Texas Longhorns and head coach Tom Herman are blazing the recruiting trail as the weekend approaches. The Longhorns will host a duo of top rated wide receiver prospects from the state of Florida.

Plant City product Mario Williams will visit the Forty Acres this weekend. The four-star wide receiver currently holds 33 scholarship offers, including one from the University of Texas. The top schools hot the trail are Alabama, LSU, Georgia and the school that is predicted to earn his commit, Oklahoma.

Also IMG Academy’s Agiye Hall will be in attendance. Hall is another four-star prospect at wide receiver. He currently holds 43 scholarship offers. Much like Williams, Texas made an offer to Hall. His top schools include Alabama, LSU and Georgia. According to 247, Oklahoma has a 17 percent chance to earn his commit. Hall is scheduled to make his commitment decision on March 14th.

This is a huge opportunity for Herman and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich to make their pitches to the highly touted duo from Florida. Currently Texas is without a wide receiver commit for the 2021 class early on in the recruiting cycle.

Texas offers 2022 four-star safety from Beaumont, Texas

The Texas Longhorns have extended an offer to 2022 four-star safety Bryce Anderson of West Brook (Beaumont).

West Brook (Beaumont) safety Bryce Anderson has been picking up steam over the last few days with recruiting offers. The four-star (247 rating) safety of the 2022 recruiting class is the sixth rated safety and 10th overall rated recruit in the state. He recently picked up an offer from former Texas assistant coach Craig Navair and the USC Trojans.

The LSU commit can now add the Texas Longhorns to the long list of schools gunning for his commitment. This marks his 16th offer received before his junior year of high school. Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas Christian are the other three Big 12 schools to extend a scholarship offer to Anderson. His crystal ball prediction via 247 has him at 100% going to Louisiana State.

The two-way player is projected to be a safety at the college level.
