Five LSU takeaways from the OT loss to Arkansas

“The era is almost over”

It was another numbing loss in Baton Rouge on Saturday night. For the first time in six years, the Arkansas Razorbacks took home the Boot trophy. It also marked the first time Ed Orgeron had lost to the Hogs.

Seems like that it is a common occurrence in and every week. This marks the first time LSU lost at home to Auburn or they lost to Arkansas for the first time in six years. It was the first time they lost to Kentucky in over a decade. Too many of these sorts of instances.

With all of that said we broke down our five takeaways from the game.

Five takeaways from Texas’ 30-7 loss to Iowa State

Five takeaways after Texas drops fourth straight game.

Scoring 70 points on Texas Tech and winning on the road against TCU feels like decades ago. The Longhorns season has spiraled downhill since then. Texas has lost its fourth straight game for the first time since 2010.

The Horns had another uninspiring performance in Ames on Saturday. Iowa State outscored Texas 27-0 in the second half, dominating both sides of the ball.

Texas looks like they have gotten worse and worse since the Oklahoma game. Teams seem to have figured out how to slow down Bijan Robinson and double covering Xavier Worthy, making the passing game a non-factor. The run defense has not made the improvement against the run needed to close out games.

Steve Sarkisian’s team has held halftime leads in eight of nine games on the year. An astonishing stat, given their 4-5 record.

If this staff does not make major moves in both recruiting and the transfer portal this offseason, more trouble is ahead.

Here are five takeaways after Texas’ 30-7 loss to Iowa State.

Five takeaways: Breaking down Florida’s painful loss to LSU

Coach Dan Mullen is now just 2-6 in his last eight games against Power Five teams.

A spark at the quarterback position wasn’t enough to avoid an ugly loss against the LSU Tigers on Saturday. After a pick-six from Emory Jones, the Gators found themselves down 15 points in the third quarter. But in came Anthony Richardson, and he led Florida back to tie the game.

Richardson had some special moments in this game, but his performance was ultimately overshadowed by a complete clunker from the defense. It couldn’t stop LSU in the final quarter, and the Tigers survived in a shootout, 49-42.

Coach Dan Mullen is now just 2-6 in his last eight games against Power Five teams, and Saturday’s loss was the fourth against an unranked team in his four-year tenure.

We knew Florida’s chances at competing for the SEC East were slim to none after the Kentucky loss, but now, with the team sitting at 4-3 (2-3 SEC), an 8-4 finish feels like the best-case scenario. Here are five takeaways from the loss to LSU.

5 takeaways from Florida’s shutout homecoming win over Vanderbilt

Here’s what we learned from Florida’s beatdown of Vanderbilt on Saturday

It wasn’t exactly pretty throughout, but Saturday’s homecoming showdown with the struggling Vanderbilt Commodores (2-4, 0-2 SEC) proved to be the “get-right” game that Florida (4-2, 2-2 SEC) desperately needed after a disappointing loss to Kentucky last week.

It was a bit of a slow start for the Gators, but a massive third quarter allowed them to pull away en route to a 42-0 shutout win.

The Commodores are one of the worst teams in the Power Five, and the evaluation of this UF team could look a lot different after its impending two-game stretch against LSU and Georgia, but here are some things we learned about it against Vandy.

5 takeaways from Florida’s 35-14 season opening win over FAU

Florida rolled in its season opener, but the victory raised more questions than it answered.

With the Florida faithful back in the stands of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, the Gators took care of business against the Florida Atlantic Owls in the season opener on Saturday night. FAU, led by second-year coach Willie Taggart, made a handful of defensive plays to sour the starting debut of quarterback Emory Jones, but it wasn’t enough to counter a high-powered Florida rushing attack (words I haven’t written about this team in quite a while).

The Gators walked away with a decisive 35-14 victory that was largely aided by a solid defensive performance, but UF’s first outing of the 2021 season also left a lot of unanswered questions as the team prepares for a road game against South Florida next week.

Here are five takeaways from the season-opening victory.

The Wisconsin Badgers entered Evanston, Illinois yesterday with the chance to knock off the 4-0 Northwestern Wildcats and take control of the Big Ten West division.

If you’ve followed Badger football over the years you know Northwestern is always a tough place to play and makes for a perfect trap game scenario. Well, that was the case yesterday as Paul Chryst and his team fell 17-7.

There is a lot to take away from the game, including young players continuing to break out, an impressive performance on one side of the football, a key player practically losing the game for the Badgers and more.

5 takeaways from Bears’ disheartening loss to the Titans

Things don’t seem to be getting better for the Bears at 5-4. Here are our takeaways from Sunday’s loss to the Titans.

A brief tumble has now started to become a free fall for the 2020 Chicago Bears. Once at 5-1, the team now sits at 5-4 following their 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans with no end in sight. On paper, the game looked relatively close and the Bears defense did hold the Titans under 300 yards. But an inept offense, coupled with key turnovers and coaching decisions, kept this game out of reach.

Frustrations boiled over at times for some of the players and head coach Matt Nagy is dangerously close to losing the locker room with another poor outing. Things don’t seem to be getting better and it feels as if another elite defense will be wasted by a dismal offense for the foreseeable future. Here are my five takeaways from Sunday’s loss.

Kadarius Toney’s breakout leads our five takeaways from UF’s win

Multi-position athlete Kadarius Toney had a career day, scoring three TDs with the two Kyles continued to rollig in UF’s victory over Mizzou

A shorthanded Gators team overcame a slow start to earn a convincing victory in its first outing since Oct. 10.

With 15 players still unavailable due to exposure to COVID-19, Florida throttled Missouri 41-17 to move to 3-1 on the season before a matchup with Georgia next week that could decide the SEC East.

The Gators trailed 7-6 for the majority of the second quarter, but they bounced back to have what was undoubtedly their most complete performance of the season.

It’s hard not to be impressed with what UF did tonight with so many starters and depth players missing. Here are five takeaways from Florida’s first action in three weeks.
