MSU football to host legacy recruit currently committed to West Virginia

Felton Davis’ cousin, a CB committed to West Virginia, will be taking an official visit this weekend

Michigan State football has added a big time visitor to their official visitor list for this weekend’s game against Purdue.

Terrance ‘Deuce’ Edwards, the cousin of former MSU WR Felton Davis, will be taking an official visit to East Lansing. The high 3-star prospect was going to take an official visit in the summer, but decided to commit to West Virginia before he did.

Now, with some uncertainty in Morgantown, the Spartans are looking to capitalize.

Edwards is a native of Richmond (VA), attending Trinity Episcopal School. He is a 6-foot-1, 180 pound cornerback.

Former Michigan State football stars comment on Jaden Mangham considering Michigan transfer

Felton Davis and Tony Lippett commented on Jaden Mangham possibly heading to U of M

Michigan State football fans and alumni are a little angry right now after seeing a few of the program’s top players leave at the last minute before the portal closed, and that was exacerbated this week when it was reported that safety Jaden Mangham is actually considering a jump to rival Michigan.

Following the news, two former MSU stars, Tony Lippett and Felton Davis III, took to social media with a funny exchange:

RJ Shelton then joined in as well:

I am not someone who would ever condone judging or mocking a player for doing what he thinks is best for himself, especially at that age with a lot of voices in their ears, but this was pretty funny.

Best Michigan State football recruit from every state since the year 2000

Michigan State is under a new national approach to recruiting. Take a look at the best recruit from each state since the year 2000.

Recruiting is an integral part of building a college football team and as many fans know, the way a team recruits is usually what makes or breaks them. Many Michigan State fans are used to the Spartans focusing heavily on recruiting the midwest, and Michigan or Ohio in particular. Mel Tucker has a new mindset when it comes to recruiting and it is expected that the Spartans will be going from coast to coast to find members of their recruiting classes going forward.

Michigan State will soon be building pipelines in many new states and Spartan fans will get used to seeing faces from many different areas of the country come to East Lansing.

With Michigan State taking this new approach to recruiting and signing day having recently just passed, it felt fitting that we go back and find the best recruit from every state on record according to the 247Sports composite rankings that go back to the year 2000.

There are 24 states represented on this list.

This list includes JUCO (Junior College) transfers and will include members of the 2021 recruiting class that have signed their letters of intent earlier this month.

Chiefs release WR Felton Davis with non-football injury designation

The Chiefs made one official roster move on Friday, with another one coming in the near future.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released WR Felton Davis with a non-football injury designation according to the NFL’s official transaction report.

Davis signed on as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State following the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-3 212-pound receiver dealt with an Achilles injury that had him limited during his time with the Chiefs. He was able to play during the preseason catching one pass against the Pittsburgh Steelers for seven yards. During the final preseason game in 2019, Daviss injured his shoulder. He was eventually waived during final roster cuts with an injury designation and eventually reverted back to the injured reserve list for Kansas City.

The Chiefs signed six UDFA receivers following the 2020 NFL Draft. That made it really difficult for the team to keep a player like Davis, especially if he still isn’t fully healthy. Hopefully, with teams inching closer toward reopening, Davis will be able to latch on with another team and find an opportunity.

This appears to be the corresponding move to coincide with the Chiefs re-signing DB Andrew Soroh. That move has yet to be made official per the league’s transaction report, but expect that move to happen in the coming days.

Michigan State WR Cody White signs with Kansas City Chiefs as UDFA

Michigan State Football wideout Cody White has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.

For the second year in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs have signed a Michigan State wide receiver as an undrafted free agent. Last year, the Super Bowl champions signed Felton Davis III as an UDFA. This year, they will take a look at Cody White, signing the MSU junior shortly after the NFL Draft.

Felton Davis III didn’t play a game for the Chiefs this year due to a shoulder injury, but he still earned a Super Bowl ring with the team. Cody White will look to join his former Spartan teammate and help lead Kansas City to a repeat.

While Cody White’s bet to leave MSU a year early to test the NFL Draft didn’t pay off in a draft selection, it looks like it will at least earn him an opportunity with the Super Bowl champs.
