Arkansas baseball’s Saturday game at Fayetteville Regional to be televised by ESPNU

Fans hoping to watch Arkansas baseball without a streaming-only subscription Saturday night at the Fayetteville Regional are in luck.

Fans hoping to see the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament on one of the ESPN family of traditional broadcast channels Saturday are in luck.

The winners’ bracket game of the regional is scheduled for 8 p.m. CDT and will be televised by ESPNU. The Diamond Hogs (44-14 overall) will face Kansas State, which defeated Louisiana Tech 19-4 earlier in the day Saturday.

ESPNU is offered by most traditional cable companies as well as popular live TV services like YouTube TV and Sling.

Top-seeded Arkansas kicked off their regional with a 17-9 victory over fourth-seeded Southeast Missouri State on Friday but the game was limited to ESPN+, a streaming-only subscription service.

Derek Jones (play-by-play) and Jay Walker (commentary) will be the broadcast team for Saturday night’s game.

SEC Pitcher of the Year and Razorbacks ace Hagen Smith is scheduled to start against Kansas State. Smith is 9-1 with a 1.48 ERA in 15 starts this season. His 154 strikeouts in 79 innings trail only Wake Forest’s Chase Burns (184) among NCAA Division I pitchers.

Smith leads all Division I starters in ERA over the minimum innings pitched threshold and is a finalist for the coveted Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy.

Fans look for answers on social media following Arkansas’ early exit from NCAA Tourney

Razorback fans took to social media to offer praise and voice frustrations after Arkansas baseball’s season-ending loss to TCU on Monday.

Arkansas baseball’s tumultuous season has finally come to an end at the hands of one of the hottest teams in baseball. TCU was able to put away the Razorbacks 12-4 on Monday, just 24 hours after throttling the Hogs 20-5, to advance in the NCAA Tournament.

“First I wanna congratulate TCU,” said Van Horn following the game. “They were a wrecking crew, man. They were really good this weekend, and when we saw they were coming to us – we knew what we were getting into.”

The Diamond Hogs finished the year 43-18 and as the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament after battling through significant injury issues. They were able to win a share of the SEC regular season tournament, but that’s nothing more than an empty consolation prize for most Razorback players, coaches and fans.

The end of Arkansas baseball’s season also coincides with the end of the 2022-23 athletic calendar year. Across the three major sports (football, men’s basketball and baseball) expectations weren’t met thanks to serious injuries to key contributors among other things.

As the 2022-23 athletic season officially ends with Arkansas baseball’s regional loss, fans took to social media to look for answers and hope as we head into 2023-24.

Arkansas vs. TCU: How to watch NCAA regional final

For the third time this season, Arkansas will take on TCU.

When the selection committee announced TCU would be in the Fayetteville Regional, it presented an opportunity for the Diamond Hogs to avenge the loss they suffered against the Horned Frogs in their second game of the season.

Then Sunday happened.

TCU dominated the Diamond Hogs 20-5 Sunday afternoon, sending them to the elimination game against Santa Clara. The Hogs knocked off Santa Clara for the second time this weekend, but now they must beat the Horned Frogs twice to advance to a Super REgional.

TCU has outscored Arkansas 38-11 with 40 hits in two games. The Hogs will have to figure out how to slow the bats down, especially Tre Richardson, who I think just hit another home run.

Fayetteville Regional Preview: Getting to know Santa Clara, Arizona and TCU

How difficult of a draw did Arkansas get with the Fayetteville Regional? Let’s take a closer look at TCU, Arizona and Santa Clara.

Arkansas baseball is once again hosting a regional to begin their march towards Omaha. The Diamond Hogs finished 41-16 on the year and were co-champions of the SEC regular season.

Their successful season earned them the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament from the selection committee. If Arkansas is able to win their regional this weekend, they would host the winner of the Terre Haute Regional (Indiana State, Iowa, North Carolina or Wright State) in a Super Regional at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Making the trek to Fayetteville this weekend will be the No. 2 seed TCU Horned Frogs, No. 3 seed Arizona Wildcats and No. 4 seed Santa Clara Broncos. Arkansas will play Santa Clara on Friday while TCU will play Arizona.

How tough was Arkansas’ draw? Let’s get to know the other three teams in the Fayetteville Regional and find out.

Arkansas, No. 3 national seed, gets Santa Clara in first game of Fayetteville Regional

Arkansas and Santa Clara will go in the Fayetteville Regional at 2 p.m. Friday.

Sunday night the Arkansas baseball team learned it was one of the eight national seeds for the NCAA Tournament. Monday it learned who would join in Fayetteville.

The Diamond Hogs will open the regional against Santa Clara on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN+.

Santa Clara, the No. 4 seed in the regional, finished tied for second in the West Coast Conference during the regular season, but won the WCC Tournament over Portland on Saturday. The Broncos finished with a 34-18 record in the regular season.

Joining Arkansas and Santa Clara in the regional are No. 2 Texas Christian and No. 3 Arizona. Those two teams will play after Arkansas-Santa Clara on Friday with each game’s winner advancing in the double-elimination bracket.
