Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Vegas Golden Knights (8-3-1) take on the Edmonton Oilers (6-6-1) Wednesday. Puck drop from Rogers Place is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Oilers won 2-1 last year

After a rough start, VGK won its 5th in 6 games with a 4-3 OT winner against the Utah Hockey Club Saturday. D Noah Hanifan had 3 points in the game, including his first goal of the season. Captain Mark Stone leads the team with 20 points and has a point in 6 straight games.

The Oilers lost their first full game without C Connor McDavid, falling to the New Jersey Devils 3-0 Monday. They defeated Nashville 5-1 and Calgary 4-2 without McDavid. C Leon Draisaitl had 3 points in each of those victories. McJesus was supposed to be out 3 weeks, but he returns Wednesday against Vegas!

Golden Knights at Oilers projected goalies

Adin Hill (5-2-0, 3.16 GAA, .874 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Stuart Skinner (3-4-1, 3.31 GAA, .881 SV%, 1 SO)

Hill stopped 16 of 19 in the 4-3 OT win Saturday. It was his second straight start seeing fewer than 20 shots. That’s very unlikely to happen against Edmonton. He faced the Oilers twice last season, winning one 3-1 and stopping 30 of 31 shots, and losing one 5-1, stopping 20 of 25.

Skinner stopped 29 of 31 in the 4-2 win over Calgary Sunday. It was the second game in the last 3 that he allowed fewer than 3 goals. Those are also the only 2 games he has allowed 2 or fewer goals. He was 2-1-0 with a 2.29 GAA and .900 SV% in 3 starts against Vegas last year.

Golden Knights at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Oilers 3

Moneyline

This is a big-time splits game. Edmonton is 2-4-1 at home, and Vegas is 0-3-1 on the road. The lone game Vegas won last season was the home tilt.

But I’m going to debunk that. Yes, McDavid’s return should provide a boost to the Oilers. The Knights are a heavy team with huge defensemen. Edmonton can’t match them in size, and it’s not very good at home with some iffy goaltending. The latter is what makes the difference.

Take the GOLDEN KNIGHTS +125.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m going with CONNOR MCDAVID OVER 3.5 SHOTS (+125) here. He just simply doesn’t miss many games, and he’s a hockey savant. He’s already returning ahead of schedule and is clearly amped up to play. Not only that, but his last 3 games before the injury, he took 4, 5 and 5 SOG. His last game against VGK, he had 8 shots. Book it.

Over/Under

The Knights are 10-2 O/U, while the Oilers are 3-9-1. The Oilers have been a lot better at goal suppression. They haven’t allowed more than 3 goals in 3 games and have only allowed more than 3 goals once in 7 games.

Well they’re going to allow more than 3 Wednesday. Vegas hasn’t scored fewer than 2 goals in any game this season. Hill is also so much sturdier than Skinner, and Hill hasn’t seen 20 shots in a couple of games now. He’ll be on it.

Take the OVER 6.5 (-115).

New Jersey Devils at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Jersey Devils (7-5-2) visit the Edmonton Oilers (6-5-1) on Monday. Puck drop from Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (NHL Net). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Devils vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Oilers won both meetings last season outscoring the Devils 10-4

The Devils had a 2-game winning streak snapped on Friday with a 3-0 loss against the Calgary Flames while failing to cover as -167 road favorites.

The Oilers have won back-to-back games after taking down the Flames 4-2 on Sunday and covering as -159 road favorites. Four Oilers scored led by C Leon Draisaitl, who had a goal and 2 assists.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Devils at Oilers projected goalies

Jacob Markstrom (5-4-1, 2.62 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Stuart Skinner (3-4-1, 3.31 GAA, .881 SV%, 1 SO)

Markstrom has had a solid start to the season. His 5 wins rank 5th in the NHL while his GAA (14th) and SV% (16th) are both higher-than-average. He has allowed just 4 goals total in his last 3 games.

Skinner has had a slower start to the season. Both his GAA and SV% rank 43rd while the 5th-year goalie has dropped 3 of his last 5 starts. He has allowed 8 goals combined in his last 2 games.

Oilers 3, Devils 2

Moneyline

BET OILERS (+110).

The Oilers have won back-to-back games while scoring 4 or more goals in each game. They are 4-1 in their last 5 games and return home for the first time in more than a week. The Devils have dropped 5 of their last 7 games including 2 of their last 3 on the road.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

There is much better value on the Edmonton moneyline.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 6.5 (-110).

Edmonton has failed to hit the Over in 9 of its 12 games this season including 7 of its last 8. It has held opponents to 3 goals combined in its last 2 games while scoring 3 goals or fewer in 4 of its last 7 games. New Jersey has hit the Under in back-to-back games and has scored 3 goals or fewer in 3 of its last 5 games.

Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Edmonton Oilers at Calgary Flames odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (5-5-1) meet the Calgary Flames (6-4-1) Sunday at Scotiabank Saddledome. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Flames odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Flames lead 1-0

The Oilers picked up a 5-1 road victory against the Nashville Predators as a slight underdog (+112) on Thursday as the Under (6.5) cashed. The Oilers have won 3 of the past 4 games, while cashing the Under at a 6-1 pace in the previous 7 outings.

The Flames blanked the New Jersey Devils 3-0 Friday as a moderate underdog (+150) against former goaltender Jacob Markstrom. That halted a 4-game losing skid. The Under has cashed in each of the past 3 outings, while going 7-2 in the previous 9 contests.

Oilers at Flames odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Oilers -150 (bet $150 to win $100) | Flames +125 (bet $100 to win $125)
  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Oilers -1.5 (+155) | Flames +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Oilers at Flames projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (2-4-1, 3.51 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Dan Vladar (3-2-1, 2.65 GAA, .909 SV%, 1 SO)

Skinner was pounded for 6 goals on just 25 shots in Monday’s 6-1 loss at Columbus, poorly following up a 4-0 shutout win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He allowed 3 goals on 28 shots in a 4-1 loss against the Flames in the first meeting Oct. 13.

Vladar was in the crease for the win over the Oilers in Edmonton, allowing just a single goal on 26 shots. He has allowed 3 or fewer goals in 4 of his past 5 outings.

Oilers at Flames picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Flames 2

Moneyline

The OILERS (-150) are moderate favorites as they look for revenge in this provincial battle. Edmonton looks to pay Calgary back for a disappointing home loss Oct. 13.

Edmonton has won 5 of the past 7 meetings, and the road team has won 4 in a row, and an insane 8 of the previous 9 in the series.

Puck line/Against the spread

It will take a little bit of a leap of faith, but the OILERS -1.5 (+155) are worth a roll of the dice.

The winner in each of the past 5 meetings have won by 2 or more goals, so if you like Edmonton to get the win, you should like it on the puck line, too.

The Flames won 3-0 last time out, but it has won just once in the past 5 outings, and the 4 losses were by 2 or more goals.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-120) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at best.

The Under has cashed in 3 straight games for the Flames, while going 7-2 across the previous 9 outings.

For the Oilers, the Under is 6-1 in the past 7 games. And, in this series, the Under has cashed in 5 of the past 7 battles.

Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (4-5-1) take on the Nashville Predators (3-5-1) Thursday. Puck drop from Bridgestone Arena is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Predators odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Oilers lead 1-0

The Oilers were huffed 6-1 by the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday on the back end of a back-to-back. Even worse, they lost C Connor McDavid early in that game, and he’s out 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury. C Leon Draisaitl didn’t even have a shot on goal in the game, and he’s going to have to step up in McJesus’ absence.

The Preds dropped a heartbreaker Monday 3-2 in OT against the Tampa Bay Lightning. C Ryan O’Reilly scored his 3rd goal of the season in the defeat. That stopped their 3-game winning streak after they opened the season 0-5.

  • Moneyline (ML): Oilers +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Predators -125 (bet $125 to win $100)
  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Oilers +1.5 (-225) | Predators -1.5 (+185)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Oilers at Predators projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (2-4-1, 3.51 GAA, .872 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Juuse Saros (2-4-1, 2.75 GAA, .905 SV%, 1 SO)

They could opt to go with backup Calvin Pickard, but I think they’ll rock with Skinner, who was skinned Monday, allowing 6 goals on 25 shots against Columbus. He was great in his only start against the Preds last year, stopping 28 of 29 shots.

Saros was solid in the overtime loss to Tampa Monday, stopping 24 of 27 fired his way. He has allowed more than 3 goals in just 1 of 7 starts thus far. He faced Edmonton once last season, and it was a disaster. He allowed 4 goals on 11 shots and was pulled before the end of the first period.

Oilers at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 4, Oilers 2

Moneyline

The Oilers were destroyed when McDavid left the ice in the last game. Now they know they’re going to be without him and will have to band together.

I think they get smacked around and struggle without their captain. The Preds are a heavy team, and Edmonton doesn’t have the horses. Take the PREDATORS -125.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m targeting D Roman Josi here. He has 6, 6, 3, 5, 4 shots on goal the last 5 games. Take ROMAN JOSI OVER 3.5 SHOTS (-105). The Preds are going to be firing on all cylinders knowing that they don’t have the threat of McDavid getting behind the defense.

Over/Under

The Oilers are 3-6-1 O/U on the season, and the Preds are 4-5. If the Oilers aren’t hitting Overs with McDavid in the lineup, I can’t see them providing enough offense to push an Over 6.5 over the threshold.

Take the UNDER 6.5 (-120).

Edmonton Oilers at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Edmonton Oilers at Detroit Red Wings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (3-4-1) take on the Detroit Red Wings (4-4-0) Sunday. Puck drop from Little Caesars Arena is set for 6 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Red Wings odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Oilers won 2-0 last season

The Oilers are coming off a 4-0 shutout of the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday. C Leon Draisaitl netted his 4th goal as Edmonton’s 4 goals tied a season high as the club is 31st in the league with 2.25 goals per game. They have 4 goals in 3 games and 2 goals or fewer in the other 5 games.

The Red Wings are on the back end of a back-to-back after dropping a Saturday matinee on the road 5-3 to the Buffalo Sabres. RW Alex DeBrincat scored his 4th goal and should have had another, but he missed a tap-in on the power play that rode up his stick and went over the empty net.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Oilers -1.5 (+100) | Red Wings +1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Oilers at Red Wings projected goalies

Calvin Pickard (1-1-0, 3.28 GAA, .852 SV%) vs. Cam Talbot (2-1-0, 3.21 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO)

Stuart Skinner has started 6 of the team’s 8 games, and this seems like a logical place to get the 32-year-old backup in. His last start came Oct. 17, and he stopped 25 of 27 shots en route to a 4-2 win over the Nashville Predators. Pickard faced Detroit once last season and stopped 16 of 18 in a 3-2 OT winner.

It hasn’t been announced, but this one should be Talbot’s after Alex Lyon started the previous day. He stopped 37 of 40 in a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils Thursday. Talbot faced Edmonton twice in the regular season while with the LA Kings last year. He was 0-1-1 with a 2.46 GAA and .889 SV%.

Oilers at Red Wings picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Red Wings 2

Moneyline

This game could go either way, especially with Edmonton struggling to put the puck in the back of the net. So, no thanks to the -250 it would take to bet on the superiorly talented team.

You know who has been completely silent thus far? LW Zach Hyman, the guy that scored 54 goals last season, has 0 goals and 1 assist in 8 games. He scored a goal in each game against Detroit last year and had at least 4 SOG. He had 4+ SOG in 3 of the last 4 games, and I’ll take ZACH HYMAN OVER 3.5 SHOTS (-110).

Puck line/Against the spread

Edmonton has 2 regulation wins, and each were by multiple goals. Each of Detroit’s losses this season have been by multiple goals. The Oilers’ ML was steamed up from -190 to -250, and the puck line went from +125 to +100 in the process of writing this Sunday morning.

Take the OILERS -1.5 (+100).

Over/Under

Edmonton has scored 5+ goals in 4 of 5 meetings with the Wings. However, this team isn’t clicking like that yet. The Oilers are just 2-5-1 O/U while the Wings are 5-3 O/U. This could wind up being 5-3 or 4-3, foiling my prediction, but I’m going to play the trends here and believe the Oilers offense we’re seeing right now.

Take the UNDER 6.5 (+100).

Pittsburgh Penguins at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Pittsburgh Penguins (3-4-1) take on the Edmonton Oilers (2-4-1) Friday. Puck drop from Rogers Place is set for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Penguins vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Oilers won 2-0 last season

The Pens have dropped 3 straight after a 4-3 shootout loss to the Calgary Flames Tuesday. RW Rickard Rakell netted his 4th goal of the season. C Sidney Crosby had an assist, but he has had a quiet start to the season with 1 goal and 6 assists in 8 games.

The Oilers dropped a 3-2 OT game to the Carolina Hurricanes Tuesday. They’ve lost 2 straight in a wild swing of a season. They dropped the first 3, won 2 and now have dropped 2. C Connor McDavid put up 2 goals Tuesday to give him 3 goals and 5 assists in the young season.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 7 (O: +110 | U: -130)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Penguins at Oilers projected goalies

Alex Nedeljkovic (0-1-1, 3.86 GAA, .869 SV%) vs. Stuart Skinner (1-3-1, 3.74 GAA, .866 SV%)

The Pens sent starter Tristan Jarry back to Pittsburgh to get some individual work in with their goalie coach. It’s a rather strange move, but Nedeljkovic has handled the last 2 starts and figures to go again Friday. He was solid Tuesday, stopping 22 of 25 in a 4-3 shootout loss. He allowed 5 goals on 36 shots in his first start against Winnipeg.

Skinner was really good against Carolina Tuesday, stopping 30 of 33 against a tough team. However, he has allowed 3 goals in 4 straight starts after allowing 5 in his season opener. He played a grand total of 1:16 against the Pens last season and didn’t face a shot on goal.

Penguins at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Penguins 3, Oilers 2

Moneyline

Edmonton is 1-3-1 at home thus far, and there’s no chance I’m going to risk -225 on it anywhere. It has allowed 27 goals and scored 14 thus far. The Pens aren’t lighting the world ablaze, but they have scored 3+ in 5 of 8.

This is more of a pick ’em to me. As such, I’m going to take a chance on PENGUINS +180 for the price.

Puck line/Against the spread

We’re going with LEON DRAISTAITL OVER 2.5 SHOTS (-120). That’s a pretty good price for a top-5 player to get just 3 shots on goal. He had 3 SOG in each game against Pittsburgh last season, and they are anything but a defensive stalwart.

Over/Under

It’s possible we see 7 goals here, but it’s really hard to look for 8 goals to cash a bet. The Over is 5-2-1 for Pittsburgh and 2-4-1 for Edmonton thus far. And that’s exactly why I’m taking the value with Pittsburgh because it articulates the edge it has offensively.

Take the UNDER 7 (-130).

The Oilers lost 4-1 to the Stars in Dallas on Saturday, halting a modest 2-game winning streak. Edmonton opened the season with 3 consecutive losses, getting outscored 15-3 before topping the Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators in back-to-back games.

Hurricanes at Oilers projected goalies

Frederik Andersen (1-1-0, 1.53 GAA, .936 SV%) vs. Stuart Skinner (1-3-0, 4.03 GAA, .851 SV%)

The Great Dane has picked up right where he left off last season, when he also had a sub-2.00 GAA for the year. He has allowed just 3 total goals on 47 shots, allowing just a single goal conceded on 26 shots in a 4-1 win in Pittsburgh to kick off the road trip Friday.

Skinner has allowed 3 or more goals in all 4 of his starts so far, with only a 4-3 OTW against the skidding Flyers to show for his efforts. He was pulled in the opener against the Winnipeg Jets, and he has yet to find his groove.

Hurricanes at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 4, Oilers 3

Moneyline

The HURRICANES (+110) are a solid underdog, although we’ll be going against the series trends. The home team has won each of the previous 5 meetings in this series.

However, Andersen is humming along, while Skinner just cannot be trusted for the Oilers (-130). The bottom line is that the goaltending is exponentially better for the visitors, at least so far.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Hurricanes +1.5 (-225) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return if you can’t take the road team straight up and you would prefer a little insurance instead.

That’s just too expensive, and it is not a good idea to bet underdogs that heavy. If you like Carolina, just bet it straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+100) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play.

Andersen has let in a total of 3 goals, so it’s risky going Over in any of his starts. But Skinner has been a sieve, and Edmonton has allowed 24 goals across 6 games, or 4.0 GPG.

The Over is 3-0-1 in the past 4 meetings in this series, too, and the total has gone high at a 3-1-1 clip in the previous 5 battles in Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (2-3-0) take on the Dallas Stars (4-1-0) in a Saturday matinee. Puck drop from the American Airlines Center is set for 4 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Stars odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Stars won regular-season series 2-1 in 2023-24 and Oilers won 4-2 in playoffs

The Oilers have won 2 straight after an 0-3 shock to the system that was their opening of the season. They took down the Nashville Predators 4-2 Thursday night. C Connor McDavid scored his 1st goal of the season, and D Brett Kulak netted his first 2 goals of the campaign.

Dallas dropped its first game of the season in a 3-2 finish against the Washington Capitals Thursday. LW Jason Robertson scored his 2nd goal of the season, and C Wyatt Johnston extended his point streak to 5 games with an assist.

Oilers at Stars projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (1-2-0, 4.42 GAA, .845 SV%) vs. Jake Oettinger (3-0-0, 1.63 GAA, .948 SV%, 1 SO)

Skinner has been beatable in the early going, allowing 3+ goals in each start. He outlasted the Philadelphia Flyers in a 4-3 OT win last time out Tuesday with 27 saves on 30 shots. He stopped 23 of 27 shots fired his way in a loss to Dallas in his only regular-season matchup against it last year.

This will be Oettinger’s 1st start since he signed an 8-year, $66 million extension Thursday. He has been fantastic in his 3 starts, allowing just 5 goals on 97 shots. “Otter” was 1-0-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .932 SV% against Edmonton in the regular season

Oilers at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Oilers 2

Moneyline

The Oilers have gotten off to a rough start, and they’re up against Oettinger at home. He is 67-20-15 with a 2.52 GAA lifetime at home. The STARS -125 are at a very good price in this spot.

Puck line/Against the spread

Goalie props weren’t available at press time, but if you can get Oettinger somewhere around Over 26.5 or 27.5, I would bite. As for the puck line, these teams are too close to risk it.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Over is 2-2 in the last 4 meetings in the regular season between the clubs. Edmonton is 2-2-1 O/U this year, and Dallas is 1-4-0. Oettinger has been so good in the early going that I don’t see Edmonton getting the necessary 3 goals to cash an Over. LEAN UNDER 6 (-105).

Analyzing Thursday’s Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Edmonton Oilers (1-3-0) visit the Nashville Predators (0-3-0) Thursday. Puck drop from Bridgestone Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Oilers vs. Predators odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Oilers won 2-1 last season

Edmonton got its first win of the season with a 4-3 OT victory against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday as a -198 favorite. C Leon Draisaitl (1 goal, 1 assist) scored 56 seconds into the extra frame as the Oilers stormed back after trailing 2-0 at 1st intermission.

Nashville has dropped 3 games in a row to start the season after falling 7-3 against the Seattle Kraken Tuesday as a -190 home favorite. The Predators had erased a 2-0 deficit in the 1st period, but allowed 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd to break a 3-3 tie.

Oilers at Predators projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (1-2-0, 5.40 GAA, .845 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (0-2-0, 4.20 GAA, .855 SV%)

Skinner has had a slow start to the season, allowing 3 goals or more in each of his first 3 starts. He picked up his first win of the season Tuesday after saving 27 of 30 shots. The 5th-year goalie is expected to improve while helping the Oilers get back on track for another Stanley Cup run.

Saros has struggled to start the season, allowing a total of 8 goals in his first 2 starts, including 6 in Tuesday’s loss. The 10th-year goalie has a career 2.64 GAA and .917 SV%.

Oilers at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 3, Oilers 2

Moneyline

BET PREDATORS (+105).

Nashville is still seeking its first win of the season, which it should find Thursday. It has scored 3 goals in 2 of its last 3 games and faces an Edmonton team that has allowed 3 or more in all 4 games this season.

The Oilers have scored 2 or fewer goals in 3 of 4 games and will be hard-pressed to get their offense going in their first road game of the season.

Puck line/Against the spread

PASS.

There is better value on the Predators to win outright.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 6.5 (-115).

Edmonton has scored 2 goals or fewer in 3 of 4 games, while Nashville has scored 3 or fewer in each of its 3 outings this season. While both teams struggle on defense, it is apparent they are still searching for their offensive identity as well. Expect both goalies to step up their play and limit the amount of scoring.

Philadelphia Flyers at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Philadelphia Flyers (1-1-0) visit the Edmonton Oilers (0-3-0) for a Tuesday battle in Alberta, Canada. Puck drop at Rogers Place is at 10 p.m. (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Flyers vs. Oilers odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; the clubs split 2 games last season

Philadelphia is continuing a season-opening western swing. The Flyers are coming off sitting out 27 minutes in the penalty box in a 6-3 loss at the Calgary Flames Saturday.

The Oilers are closing out a 4-game homestand, and things have not gone well over the 1st 3 contests. Edmonton has coughed up 5 power-play goals en route to allowing 5 goals per game thus far.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Flyers at Oilers projected goalies

Samuel Ersson (1-0-0, 1.85 GAA, .923 SV%) vs. Stuart Skinner (0-2-0, 5.40 GAA, .805 SV%)

Ersson’s last game was Friday at the Vancouver Canucks. The 24-year-old stopped 24-of-26 shots in a 3-2 win.

Skinner was pulled 31 minutes into his 1st start last Wednesday after allowing 5 goals and then yielded 3 goals on 28 shots vs. the Calgary Flames on Sunday in a 4-1 loss.

Flyers at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Flyers 2

Moneyline

The Oilers’ 5-on-5 analytics are by outpacing what the club has done so far at both ends of the ice. Shaky goaltending (.794 SV%) has certainly been a problem for Edmonton. But per NaturalStatTrick.com, the Oilers’ 59.4% scoring chances-for rate (5-on-5) leads the NHL. The Oilers were undone by 5 power-play goals in their 1st 2 games; they killed off each of 3 short-handed situations in their last game.

Edmonton (-225) is a solid enough play. But consider a PASS here and taking the Oilers on the puck line.

Puck line/Against the spread

Edmonton is 4-1-0 across its last 5 home games against Philadelphia. All 4 of those victories were by multi-goal margins.

Skinner clocked a .913 SV% at home last season.

Philadelphia went 1-6-2 over its last 9 road games last season, and the Flyers have had their issues in this building over recent years.

BACK THE OILERS -1.5 (+115).

Over/Under

The Under has gone 4-1 in the last 5 Philly-Edmonton games.

Look for some gravity in the goals-allowed numbers for both sides.

TAKE THE UNDER 6.5 (-115).
