The Edmonton Oilers (0-2) and Nashville Predators (1-2) face off Tuesday at Bridgestone Arena. Puck drop is 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Predators odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Oilers dropped their 1st 2 games by a combined score of 12-4 to the Vancouver Canucks to open the season. Their last game was extremely puzzling as they outshot the Canucks 40-18 and only took 3 penalties and still lost 4-3.

The Preds fell to the Boston Bruins 3-2 on Saturday to fall to 1-2. All 3 goals came on the power play or a penalty shot. Meanwhile, Nashville was 0-for-7 with the man advantage. They are just 1-for-14 on the power play in 3 games. Meanwhile, they’ve allowed opponents to convert on 4-for-12 power plays.

Oilers at Predators projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (0-1-0, 5.33 GAA, .750 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (1-2-0, 2.05 GAA, .920 SV%, 1 SO)

Skinner has played in 2 games and stopped 12 of 16 shots in each of them. His last effort was his 1st start Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Vancouver. This will be Skinner’s 1st meeting with the Predators. He was 9-1-2 with a 2.31 GAA and .925 SV% in 12 starts against the Central Division last year.

Despite 2 losses next to his name, Saros has been extremely good to open the season. He was defeated by the Boston Bruins on Saturday, stopping 28 of 31 shots. The 3 goals were scored on the power play and a penalty shot. He shut out the Seattle Kraken in the previous game. He was 1-1-0 with a 4.46 GAA and .870 SV% in 2 starts against Edmonton last year.

Oilers at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Predators 3

Moneyline

The Oilers aren’t getting off to an 0-3 start. Nashville won the last meeting in December 4-3 in overtime, but Edmonton won the previous 8 meetings. They’ll start a new streak Tuesday.

Take the OILERS -145.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Preds are 2-1 on the puck line and 1-0 at home. However, we can’t drop -200 on them here. But that also shows we shouldn’t have confidence in the Oilers, either.

I’d rather take a chance on LEON DRAISAITL ANYTIME GOAL (+105). He had goals in 2 of 3 games against Nashville last year and has scored in each of the team’s games this season.

Over/Under

I like the Over here, but I don’t want to take the risk with the juice added. The 3 meetings last season had totals of 7, 9 and 11. So I’m going to fall back and take some push protection with OVER 6 (-160).
