Commmanders fail to treat Jalen Hurts like a RB on 9-yard TD run

Washington Commmanders fail to treat Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts like a running back on this 9 yard TD run

Joe Whitt talked about his Commanders’ defense being physical with Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, but Philadelphia is doing all the bullying.

Earlier in the week, the Washington defense coordinator discussed treating the Philadelphia quarterback like a running back whenever he carried the football.

So far, it’s been all Hurts and the Eagles, who have 108 yards rushing, including this nine-yard draw from the quarterback.

Hurts has eight carries for 15 yards (1.9 avg) and, most importantly, two rushing touchdowns as Philadelphia nears a return trip to the Super Bowl.

Saquon Barkley makes NFL history with multiple TDs in 3 games vs. Commanders

Saquon Barkley is the first player in NFL history to score multiple TDs (of any kind) in 3+ games against a single opponent in a season

Saquon Barkley led the league with a franchise-record 2,005 rushing yards, making him just the ninth player in NFL history to post 2,000+ rushing yards in a season.

Barkley had two monster performances against Washington in the regular season, and his early first-half explosion made NFL history.

On Sunday in the NFC Championship game, the All-Pro running back became the first player in NFL history to score multiple touchdowns (of any kind) in 3+ games against a single opponent in a season.

In the first matchup, a 26-18 Eagles win, Barkley rushed for 146 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns.   In a 36-33 Commanders win in Week 16, Barkley rushed for 150 yards on 29 carries, and two rushing touchdowns.

Including playoffs, Barkley’s 2,329 rushing yards entering this game (119 in the NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Green Bay) are the 3rd-most in NFL single-season history, behind Terrell Davis in 1998 (2,476) and 1997 (2,331). He is just 148 rushing yards shy of breaking Davis’ all-time record.

With today’s scores, Barkley has posted seven rushing touchdowns of 60+ yards this season (including playoffs), the most in league history. He was previously tied with Adrian Peterson (four in 2012) and Jim Brown (four in 1963) for the most.

Nick Foles played 11 seasons for six teams, including the Eagles and Bears.

Foles has passed for 14,227 yards and 82 touchdowns, earning one Pro Bowl nomination, the Super Bowl MVP, and the Lombardi Trophy.

The former Steelers first-round pick had one ugly interception but made some big throws as Philadelphia went into the half with a 2-14 lead.

An Eagles win would give Nick Sirianni, the head coach, his second NFC East title in four years.
