Early National Signing Day tracker 2023: Following the biggest moves in the early signing period

Tracking the big announcements, including where Dylan Raiola is going.

Football season technically never stops, and it’s not about to start now. The early National Signing Day period is here.

National Signing Day is not until February 7, 2024. Still, there is a brief period, December 20-22, 2023, where high school seniors can sign their National Letter of Intent early to confirm their scholarships and where they intend to play football.

It’s an absolutely chaotic time of year (in the best way possible) as some of the nation’s top college football recruits make dramatic reveals and rile up football fanbases while sending others into shambles.

If you’re looking for a running list of all the early commitments, we’ve got you covered. Let’s dive into the moves that have been made:

Analysts react to Nebraska flipping Dylan Raiola from Georgia

College football analysts had plenty of reactions to Dylan Raiola’s commitment on Monday.

On Monday night, five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola flipped his long-standing commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, ending a whirlwind recruitment just days before the early signing period.

In what was the most anticipated decision of the 2024 recruiting class across the country, college football analysts across the industry had plenty of reactions on social media to Raiola’s commitment.

Raiola, a one-time Ohio State commitment is the highest-rated commitment of the internet recruiting rankings age and a potential program-changing talent for Matt Rhule and his program.

This past season, Raiola threw for over 2,800 yards and had a touchdown to interception ratio of 34-to-1 for Buford High School in Georgia. For his career, he passed for 8,442 yards and 88 touchdowns while throwing just 11 interceptions.

Here is how college football analysts and recruiting analysts reacted to Raiola’s commitment.

Top Iowa rival flips commitment of 5-star QB recruit

Matt Rhule and Nebraska pulled it off. The Huskers have flipped five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola’s commitment from Georgia.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have done it. In their search for a new starting quarterback, many projected Nebraska to gain the services of former Buckeye Kyle McCord.

The former Ohio State passer entered the transfer portal and staged a visit with the Cornhuskers. It was viewed as a win-win situation for both parties involved.

It turns out that Matt Rhule had his eyes on a slightly bigger prize. Eyebrows were raised when it was revealed that McCord would join Syracuse instead of Nebraska. While some started laughing at their misfortune, anyone following the news knew something potentially huge was up.

Here it is. Nebraska has flipped the commitment of five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Matt Rhule has pulled off a massive recruiting victory, enticing the nation’s top-rated passer according to 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals away from two-time defending national champions Georgia. The Buford, Ga., native committed to the Bulldogs back in May.

Rumors of Raiola switching his commitment to his father Dominic’s alma mater, Nebraska, started to materialize last week. The Huskers earned a crystal ball prediction to flip the quarterback’s commitment on Dec. 11.

The top quarterback in the 2024 class announced his commitment to the Huskers via a poem on social media Monday evening.

For Matt Rhule and the Cornhuskers, this is a nothing less than a coup. Quarterback is a position the school has struggled mightily at. They struck out in the transfer portal the past two years with Jeff Sims and Casey Thompson.

Before them, Adrian Martinez was serviceable, but nothing spectacular. Their last passer to make an all-conference team was Taylor Martinez back in 2012.

Matt Rhule is looking to turn Nebraska back into the powerhouse of the days of yesteryear. Building around a prospect like Raiola surely is a great start.

Dylan Raiola flips! Top-ranked quarterback writes a poem to announce that he is heading to Nebraska

Dylan Raiola commits to Nebraska football.

Nebraska is red.  Georgia fans are now blue. NIL is sweet. And so is Matt Rhule.

Coming off a weekend official visit to Nebraska, Dylan Raiola has de-committed from Georgia and will instead be a Cornhusker. He announced the decision on social media, penning a poem to signal his intentions.

Raiola is the top-ranked quarterback in the class of 2024. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect is a five-star recruit who played his high school football at Buford (Buford, Georgia).

This is now the third college commitment that Raiola has given in little over a year. Almost a year to the date (Dec. 17, 2022), Raiola de-committed from Ohio State, where he had been committed the prior six months. And then most recently, Raiola had been a Georgia football commit since mid-May of this year.

Raiola used poetry, presumably that he penned, to announce on social media that he is taking his talents to the Big Ten and Nebraska:

This fall in 13 games as a senior, Raiola threw for 2,666 yards with 34 touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 63.2 percent of his passes.

ESPN ranks Raiola as the eighth-best recruit in the nation and the top quarterback prospect.

According to 247Sports, Raiola’s addition gives Nebraska the No. 23 class in the nation. He is the first five-star landed by head coach Matt Rhule.

Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola has flipped his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska. The Buford quarterback was committed to the Bulldogs since May, but was recently linked to Nebraska in the previous couple of weeks.

There were reports that he’d kept an open dialogue with Georgia coaches, but then Carson Beck made his decision to return to Athens.

The 6-foot-3 quarterback is Nebraska’s biggest recruit in the Matt Rhule-era and one of the most highly-touted recruits in Cornhuskers’ history. He has a good chance to start as a true freshman.

The No. 1 ranked recruit is highly-regarded for his arm talent. He threw 34 touchdowns in his senior year at Buford. Nebraska is the third school Raiola has committed to along with Georgia and Ohio State.

Georgia will still return Beck and Gunnar Stockton. Four-star Ryan Puglisi and walk-on Colter Ginn will be the freshman quarterbacks behind those two. Georgia maintains the No. 1 recruiting class without Raiola, per 247Sports.

Nebraska flips five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from Georgia

The Cornhuskers have landed their highest rated commitment ever

The long-awaited decision from five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola has been made. On Monday, the five-star quarterback announced that he had flipped his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, ending speculation that the legacy recruit would flip his commitment.

According to 247Sports, Raiola becomes Nebraska’s all-time highest-rated commitment, moving ahead of names such as Marlon Lucky, Chris Septak, Aaron Green, Baker Steinkuhler, and Ndamong Suh.

Raiola is the nephew of current Nebraska offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. He is ranked five-star by three of the four major recruiting services in 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals.

Both 247Sports and Rivals have him ranked as the nation’s top quarterback and the second-best prospect in the country, while ESPN ranks him as the country’s eighth-best prospect overall and top signal caller.

The 6-foot-2.5, 230-pound quarterback was also previously committed to Ohio State during his recruitment before flipping to Georgia earlier this year. It became clear last week that Matt Rhule and the Huskers would have a significant chance of pulling off the flip with the early signing period looming.

With just two days till the early signing period, Nebraska now holds 25 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, which ranks among the top 25 signing classes across the recruiting industry. Outside Raiola, the Huskers’ top committed prospects are Nebraska tight end Carter Nelson and Iowa offensive lineman Grant Brix. Both are considered among the top 100 prospects in the country.

Nebraska sends a message to college football world by flipping 5-star QB Dylan Raiola from Georgia

Matt Rhule and Nebraska pulled off a major recruiting coup on Monday.

It wasn’t the most inspiring Year 1 on the field for Matt Rhule at Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers finished 5-7, falling short of a bowl bid for the seventh season in a row. While that is undoubtedly disappointing, there are reasons to believe better days are ahead.

On Monday, Rhule and Nebraska pulled off a colossal flip, securing a commitment from five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. A native of Buford, Georgia, Raiola — the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 class and a top-10 overall prospect, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings — had been pledged to the in-state Bulldogs since May.

Raiola received a flood of predictions in favor of Nebraska ahead of an official visit to Lincoln last week, and he became the highest-ranked player to commit to the Cornhuskers in the recruiting rankings era, according to ESPN.

Assuming he ultimately signs, he’ll join a team that happens to have his uncle, Donovan Raiola, on staff as the offensive line coach. Raiola’s father Dominic also played college football for the Cornhuskers.

Nebraska has been in a decades-long battle to return to prominence, and while the on-field returns have been slow under Rhule, what’s going on under the hood is much more encouraging, especially with the investments being made in NIL.

We’re seeing that starting to bear fruit and landing a quarterback of Raiola’s stature should send a message to the entire college football world that Nebraska is finally getting serious.

Watch: Georgia football commit Dylan Raiola is enjoying his Nebraska official visit

Dylan Raiola seems to be enjoying his official visit to Nebraska.

This is not a happy update for Georgia football fans: It appears that Dylan Raiola’s official visit to Nebraska is going well.

Raiola, a five-star quarterback, has been a Georgia football commit since mid-May. Last year, he was committed to Ohio State for roughly seven months. This weekend, he is on an official visit to Nebraska where he was spotted taking in a wrestling match.

This fall for Buford High School (Buford, Georgia) in 13 games, Raiola threw for 2,666 yards with 34 touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed 63.2 percent of his passes.

Over the past few days, there seemed to be some momentum growing for Raiola to flip to Nebraska. Seeing the top-ranked quarterback in the nation on the official visit, laughing and enjoying himself, only underscores the sentiment that Raiola could be a flip candidate.

According to Rivals and 247Sports, he is the No. 2 player in the country and the top-ranked quarterback. ESPN ranks him as the eighth-best player in the nation.

Kyle McCord not transferring to Nebraska opens door for Georgia QB commit

Kyle McCord not transferring to Nebraska opens door for Georgia QB commit

There’s a growing belief Georgia will lose the commitment from five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 class.

Earlier this week, 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong projected Raiola to flip to Nebraska. Raiola’s father, Dominic Raiola, played center for the Cornhuskers, while his uncle, Donovan Raiola, serves as offensive line coach in Lincoln.

A report on Wednesday by On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos has made that prediction more believable.

Nakos reported Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord is not transferring to Nebraska as previously expected, opening the door wider for Raiola to take the reins immediately if a flip does occur.

Raiola transferred to Buford High School in Georgia this fall and led the Wolves to an 11-2 record.

Raiola is reportedly visiting Nebraska this week.

The good news for Georgia is if Raiola decommits, the Bulldogs still have a top-10 passer coming to Athens in the 2024 class, four-star Ryan Puglisi.

Puglisi (Avon, Connecticut) is the No. 10 quarterback and the No. 134 player overall in the class, per 247Sports.

This situation puts even more weight on junior quarterback Carson Beck, who has not yet announced his decision on turning pro or staying with the Bulldogs for another season.

A closer look at the high school career of Dylan Raiola

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been one of the top stories in college football for the last 36 hours.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been one of the top stories in college football for the last 36 hours. On Monday evening, news broke that Georgia quarterback commit and five-star prospect Dylan Raiola is considering flipping his commitment to Nebraska.

The class of 2024 recruit had committed to Georgia in May after initially committing to Ohio State. As wild as his college recruitment has been, his high school football career has been as interesting.

The 6-3 230-pound quarterback has played for three high schools in the past three seasons. In 2021, he played for former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna at Burleson High School, Texas.

He would throw for 3,341 yards with 32 touchdowns and five interceptions while posting an 8-4 record. Raiola was also awarded District 5-5A-II Offensive MVP honors.

He would move to Arizona for his junior year and play for Chandler High School. He would throw for 2,435 yards with 22 touchdowns and five interceptions.

As a senior, he would transfer to Buford (GA) High School to an 11-2 record while throwing for 2,819 yards with 34 touchdowns and one interception.

Dylan Raiola has had an eventful high school football career and wild recruitment. Here’s hoping he finds some stability at the collegiate level. Below is a photo gallery of Dylan Raiola’s high school career.
