Broncos select pass rusher in new 2025 NFL mock draft

Draft Wire’s recent 2025 NFL mock draft has the Broncos selecting pass rusher James Pearce.

The Denver Broncos sit at 5-5 through the first 10 weeks of the 2024 NFL season, and they’re in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt. As a result, in Draft Wire’s newest mock draft, the Broncos are projected to pick 19th overall.

According to author Curt Popejoy, the Broncos are going to bolster their top-5 defense with another pass-rusher in the form of Tennessee EDGE James Pearce.

Pearce (6-5, 243 pounds) is a massive body Denver could use to stop the likes of AFC heavyweights Derrick Henry in the rush game and be a formidable foe for quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson off the edge.

In 2023, as a sophomore, Pearce led the SEC with 10 sacks. In 2024, Pearce found himself on several preseason collegiate watch lists, and is a semi-finalist for several individual awards.

Pearce would be a huge addition to an already-stout Broncos defense that is in the top three in quarterback pressures, blitz rates, sacks and yards-per-dropback in 2024. The unit has proved to be one of the best in the NFL, but Denver could look to add more depth and competition next spring.

Jets get left tackle of future in latest Draft Wire mock

Jets get left tackle of future in latest Draft Wire mock

Mock draft season is in full swing and with the Jets already out of the players and having just one game left to play this season, focus will start turning to the offseason and April’s draft.

The Jets are likely going to have a top-10 pick which means offensive tackle is very much in play. There are two strong candidates at the position in Joe Alt of Notre Dame and Olu Fashanu of Penn State.

Fortunately, in Curt Popejoy’s latest mock draft for Draft Wire, the Jets get one of them with the 9th overall pick.

Popejoy has Fashanu heading to New York to fill a position the Jets red to hammer hard this offseason after Mekhi Becton struggled in the second half of the season. The Jets will likely let him walk in free agency, allowing Fashanu to step right in and play from day one and help the Jets win now and in the future.

Vikings defense gets a boost in latest mock draft

Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon gives the Vikings defense a boost in his latest mock draft.

Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon unveiled his latest mock draft as the college football regular season has officially ended.

As it currently stands, the Minnesota Vikings are firmly in the playoffs and picking 20th. According to Risdon, that’s the perfect spot for UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu to come off the board.

If his medical evaluations continue to check out, Latu figures to be long gone by this point. With Danielle Hunter and Jonathan Bullard both headed for free agency, taking a shot at the best pressure generator in the draft class makes a ton of sense.

The Danielle Hunter situation is one to monitor for Minnesota, especially with him having an actual argument for Defensive Player of the Year this season. Good teams don’t allow guys like that to walk.

The allure of a player like Latu is intoxicating. He’s physical, relentless and has an impressive repotoire of pass rush moves.

His concerns stem from a neck injury where the medical team at Washington forced him to medically retire. But his resurgence at UCLA has him back in first-round talks and possibly in the purple and gold next season.

Jets find running mate for Garrett Wilson in Draft Wire’s latest mock draft

Jets find running mate for Garrett Wilson in Draft Wire’s latest mock draft

The Jets need to retool the offensive side of the football this upcoming offseason. Wide receiver is certainly near the top of that list as the Jets have struggled to get any production from the position outside of Garrett Wilson and even he’s had his issues at points this season. But after him, it’s been very disappointing. Their big free-agent catch at the position, Allen Lazard, was inactive in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins while Randall Cobb, their other free-agent signing at wide receiver, hadn’t been active since Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles before being active in Week 12 due to Lazard being scratched.

Help is definitely needed and our friends at Draft Wire have come to the rescue, at least hypothetically, with their latest mock draft. A new target for whoever the quarterback in 2024 will be comes into the mix and he’s a darn good one. We’re talking about Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.

Odunze has been a huge piece of Washington’s 12-0 regular season and being on the verge of a Pac-12 championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. He has caught 73 passes for 1,326 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. He needs just two catches Friday to reach 75 for the second consecutive season.

Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy had a very simple reason for the pick.

We are banking on Aaron Rodgers making a healthy return next season and so we get him another big-play threat at receiver.

With the Jets now in a position to get a top-10 pick — they currently sit at No. 8 — they can very well be set up for one of the top wide receiver prospects if they so choose, except for Marvin Harrison Jr., who would likely be gone long before No. 8. Unless the Jets want to trade up.

Odunze would help take a lot of pressure off of Wilson and, hopefully, give the Jets a spark on offense in 2024.

2023 NFL draft: Richard Gouraige named Bills’ UDFA to watch

2023 NFL draft: Richard Gouraige named #Bills’ UDFA to watch:

Before, during, and after the NFL draft each year the attention is all on the draft picks. 2023 is no different.

But it’s not just about them. There are plenty of players who have gone on to have long careers that were not selected. Hall of Famers, even.

While we’re not going to say Richard Gouraige is a player that should size up his gold jacket just yet, but he’s officially on our watch board for training camp thanks to our friends at Draft Wire.

DW named one UDFA to watch on each team during the upcoming offseason. For the Bills, the offensive lineman from Florida was named and DW might be onto something.

Both The Draft Network and NFL.com were surprised that Gouraige was not drafted. Gouraige was projected as a fifth rounder and sixth-round prospect by those outlets, respectively.

Gouraige might have an uphill climb to make Buffalo’s 53-man roster after the additions made to the offensive line already this offseason. Notably at the draft, a seventh-round pick was used on Nick Broeker and a top selection in Round 2 was was tabbed on Gouraige’s college teammate O’Cyrus Torrence.

But Gouraige could stick around on the practice squad and turn into a piece that’s a promising project some day.

Here’s Draft Wire’s breakdown on Gouraige:

Gouraige has considerable experience at both guard and tackle from Florida. He’s strong, smart and technically sound–an ideal reserve offensive lineman.

Breaking down Chiefs’ pick in Draft Wire’s way-too-early 2024 mock draft

Who did the #Chiefs get in @TheDraftWire’s way-too-early 2024 mock draft? We break it down here:

It hasn’t even been a full 24 hours since the conclusion of the 2023 NFL draft and our friend Curt Popejoy over at Draft Wire already has turned the chapter to 2024.

In his way-too-early first-round 2024 mock draft, Popejoy sends the Chiefs Ohio State S Josh Proctor. He returned to Ohio State as a fifth-year senior in 2023 due to the NCAA’s COVID-eligibility rules. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, he has the ideal size to play the position in the NFL.

In 2022, he appeared in 11 games with the Buckeyes, recording 21 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack and two passes defended. He’ll have to take a big leap in his production in 2023 in order to be considered a first-round pick. He certainly has the measurables and he has some moments on tape like this:

I’d be surprised if the Chiefs ended up going with a safety in the first round in the 2024 NFL draft. It’d almost certainly mean that they opted to use the out year in Justin Reid’s three-year contract or that a player like Bryan Cook has failed to take a second-year leap. Mike Edwards is slated to be a free agent in 2024, but the Chiefs also traded up in Round 4 of the 2023 NFL draft to select a versatile DB in Chamarri Conner.

Jets fortify offensive line, add linebacker help in Draft Wire mock

Our friends at Draft Wire help the Jets improve their offensive line

Offensive line is the heavy topic of conversation for the Jets heading into the draft and a recent two-round mock draft from Draft Wire’s Natalie Miller helps in that department.

Miller gives the Jets two offensive linemen and then gets some help in the middle of the defense with their three picks in the first rounds.

Starting at No. 13, the Jets land one of the top offensive tackles in a player they recently met with, Ohio State’s Paris Johnson Jr.

“The Jets have struggled to solve their tackle position for a few years, and they can begin to patch their offensive line here. Johnson can start on either side of the line, and could develop into the long term solution at left tackle with sky high talent.”

Then in round two, the Jets double dip on the offensive line by grabbing their new long-term center in Wisconsin’s Joe Tippmann. Even if the Jets add former Titans center Ben Jones or re-sign Connor McGovern, the team still needs a future at the position and Tippmann has the looks of a really good center.

Finally, at No. 43, the Jets get help at linebacker in the form of Jack Campbell from Iowa. Kwon Alexander is still a free agent and C.J. Mosley could be entering the end of the road with the Jets. Quincy Williams will need a new running mate at some point. Campbell would be a really good option.

Bryce Young, Will Anderson Jr. go No. 1 and No. 2 in latest 2023 NFL mock draft

Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. would be making Alabama football history!

In less than two weeks the 2023 NFL draft will take place in Kansas City as some of the top collegiate prospects anticipate hearing their names called to fulfill lifelong dreams.

You can expect mock drafts on the daily from now until then and if you are an Alabama football fan, you will like the latest mock from our friends over at Draft Wire.

On Thursday, Draft Wire released their newest two-round edition mock draft and the Crimson Tide’s very own Bryce Young is projected as No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers and Will Anderson Jr. is projected as No. 2 overall to the Houston Texans.

Let’s take a look at which Crimson Tide players are projected to land in this specific mock draft.

Breaking down Chiefs picks in Draft Wire’s latest mock draft

Our @goldmctNFL breaks down the #Chiefs picks made by @TheDraftWire’s @JeffRisdon in his latest three-round mock draft.

With 14 days to go until the 2023 NFL draft, we’re seeing some really intriguing mock draft scenarios for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Our friend Jeff Risdon at Draft Wire recently released a 3-round mock draft, which includes a familiar scenario for Kansas City in Round 1. Could Brett Veach have a similar idea in mind when the draft opens on Thursday, April 27?

Here’s a quick review of the players sent to the Chiefs in this mock draft:

Jets attack trenches and linebacker in Draft Wire’s 7-round mock

Jets attack trenches and linebacker in Draft Wire’s 7-round mock

The Jets love building in the trenches through the draft and if the mock from Draft Wire is any indication, they’re going to continue doing so.

Draft Wire’s Curt Popejoy put out a Jets-specific 7-round mock draft and made sure to attack both lines in the first two rounds. The mock draft also didn’t take into account the Aaron Rodgers trade yet so the Jets had three picks in the first two rounds.

Let’s take a quick look at the players Popejoy gave the Jets in the draft.
