The Texas Longhorns have opened up as 9.5-point favorites over the Texas Tech Red Raiders

The extremely disappointing regular season for the Texas Longhorns is coming to an end. For their final game of the season, the Longhorns will face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Texas Tech has already been eliminated from being bowl eligible, as they have seven losses. The Longhorns are bowl eligible and will look to end the season on a high note before being assigned their bowl game.

Texas has opened up as 9.5-point favorites over Texas Tech. Last season, the Longhorns were able to beat the Red Raiders on the road, 41-34.

The Texas Longhorns have released their updated depth chart for Saturday’s matchup against the Baylor Bears.

Both Texas and Baylor are looking to get into the Big 12 Championship. Baylor just needs to win one of their remaining games to get in. Texas needs to win both their last two games and hope other matchups around the conference pan out.

Baylor has been a very good team this year, suffering only one loss, which came last weekend against the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas will need to play a nearly perfect game if they want a chance at an upset.

With that being said, here is the updated depth chart for Texas.

Devin Duvernay does not make the cut as a Biletnikoff semifinalist

Despite the outstanding season, Devin Duvernay was not named a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff. The snub was “shocking” to Tom Herman.

The Biletnikoff semifinalists were announced on Monday morning and Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay did not make the cut. Only one receiver from the Big 12 made the cut and it was Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb.

To this date, Duvernay has 87 catches and 1,017 receiving yards. Both of those numbers lead the Big 12 and are ahead CeeDee Lamb. Outside of the conference, his 87 catches rank second in the country and his receiving yards are eighth. Here is how he stacks up to the other semifinalists:

What he does not have like most of the other receivers is receiving touchdowns. All but four of the Biletnikoff semifinalists have double-digit touchdowns receptions, while Duvernay only has seven.

“You’re telling me he’s not one of the 20-best wideouts in the country? That’s a shame,” Head Coach Tom Herman said.

Herman also added that it is “shocking” that Duvernay was left off the list. While it is shocking, everyone knows how important he has been to this team this season. With other star wide receiver Collin Johnson missing time throughout the season, Duvernay has stepped up and become one of the best players for Texas.

Duvernay will need to step up big time again on Saturday, as the Longhorns have the chance to spoil Baylor’s College Football Playoff dreams.

Texas will face Baylor on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CST on FS1.

It is on defense where the Cyclones separate from the Longhorns, ranking 32nd in rushing yards allowed (128.4) and 43rd in total yards allowed (359.8).

3. The home team is 5-2 against the spread in the past seven meetings in this series, and the under is 4-0 in the past four battles.

Iowa State (-257) is too steep at this price, although the Cyclones should be able to pull it out at home. Still, while they’re nearly a touchdown favorite, this one really could go either way.

TEXAS (+6.5, -106) is ranked in the Top 20 for a reason. Between QB Sam Ehlinger and WR Devin Duvernay, this offense can roll up a lot of points and hang with anyone. Iowa State (-6.5, -115) also sports a high-powered offense, led by QB Brock Purdy. Remember, though, the Longhorns are 14-2 straight up in this series, and 6-1 in their seven trips to I-State.

Over/Under (O/U)
