Philadelphia Eagles condemn DeSean Jackson’s anti-Semitic post attributed to Hitler

The Philadelphia Eagles told WR DeSean Jackson his post quoting Adolf Hitler was absolutely appalling and unacceptable.

The Philadelphia Eagles released a statement Tuesday saying they have spoken to wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who posted what many deemed to be anti-Semitic messages on social media Monday that he attributed to Adolf Hitler and other quotes and information attributed to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

The Eagles said they have spoken to Jackson and “the messages he shared were offensive, harmful and absolutely appalling. They have no place in our society and are not condoned or supported in any way by the organization.

Jackson. meanwhile, could have jeopardized his place on the team, per an ESPN tweet.

The Instagram story featured a quote attributed to Hitler that said “[white Jews] will blackmail America and [they] will extort America, but their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.”

DeSean attempted to clarify his post on Monday, stating that he doesn’t hate Jewish people.

“Anyone who feels I have hate towards the Jewish community took my post the wrong way,” Jackson wrote. “I have no hatred in my heart towards no one!! Equality equality.”

He then tried to apologize Tuesday: Jackson wrote a statement and recorded a video, in which he said he “didn’t intend any harm or hatred,” and specifically repudiated any connection with approving of Hitler.

I post a lot of things that are sent to me. I do not have hatred towards anyone. I really didn’t realize what this passage was saying. Hitler has caused terrible pain to Jewish people like the pain African-Americans have suffered. We should be together fighting anti-Semitism and racism. This was a mistake to post this and I truly apologize for posting it and sorry for any hurt I have caused.

Not long after that, Jackson put this video with his apology on Instagram:

Philadelphia Eagles land All-American WR in way too early 2021 NFL mock draft

Philadelphia Eagles land All-American WR Rashod Bateman in way too early 2021 NFL mock draft

[jwplayer jyD7kO4L]

The Eagles are expecting huge things from Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, in what could be the final season for both players in Philadelphia.

During the 2020 NFL Draft, the Eagles added Jalen Reagor (TCU), John Hightower (Boise State), and Quez Watkins (Southern Miss). The hope is that all three players have productive rookie seasons and allow the Birds to solidify the wide receiver spot.

If for some reason one or two of those players don’t pan out, the Birds will have plenty of options coming out in 2021. In the first of a way too early 2021 mock draft from 24/7 Sports, the Eagles land Minnesota All-American Rashod Bateman late in the first round.

27. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: RASHOD BATEMAN, MINNESOTA, WR

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound standout is an “an alpha receiver … [with] physical tools [that] are off the charts,” raves Pro Football Talk. PFT is so high on Bateman, it has him ranked higher among receivers than Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith.

A Georgia native, Bateman spurned SEC schools to attend Minnesota and he hasn’t looked back ever since.

Bateman started at wide receiver as a true freshman and set a Golden Gophers freshman record with 51 receptions, 704 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Last season as a true sophomore, Bateman was named a semifinalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award and first-team All-Big Ten after catching 57 passes for 1,170 yards (20.5 yards per catch) and 11 touchdowns.

Bateman earned Second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated and USA Today and was a third-team selection by the Associated Press.

7 Philadelphia Eagles who need to step up for Carson Wentz in 2020

7 Philadelphia Eagles who need to step up for Carson Wentz in 2020

The Philadelphia Eagles will enter the 2020 NFL season with championship aspirations and a quarterback on the hunt for his absolute respect around the league.

Wentz is one of the top-5 quarterbacks in the game, but all critics talk about are his eight games missed over the past three seasons including his first postseason start against the Seahawks last year.

Wentz can’t win another division title alone and in this breakdown, we’ll look at the seven Eagles who need to step up and do their part for the MVP candidate.

***

Matt Pryor

1.  Matt Pryor, Right Guard

Pryor spent two seasons learning the Eagles’ offense for this moment and was the Eagles’ choice to replace Brandon Brooks in the Birds Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Originally selected by the Eagles in the 6th round (206th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft, Pryor actually made his first career NFL start in place of an injured Brooks in that Wild Card game vs. Seattle.

An All-Big 12 honoree at TCU, Pryor will be called upon to help the Eagles maintain the distinction of being in the top-3 annually in both pass and run blocking. Pryor won’t be able to match Brandon Brooks’s production, but he’ll definitely need to hold up in the interior so Wentz can work his magic.

Jalen Hurts works out with Eagles WR DeSean Jackson

Former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts was seen working out with Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts was seen working out with Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Hurts posted videos on to his Instagram on Monday, with the caption “Locked In.”

When former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 53rd overall pick, many wondered if he’d ever see any action on the field.

Even a little over a month ago, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson told the media that he didn’t see Hurts being the backup this year, some of which has to do with the coronavirus.

But Pederson also recently shared how Hurts is putting in the work, and over time, could become a huge asset for the Eagles.

And with the offseason work he’s putting in with some Eagles key receivers, Hurts may have a chance to step on the field this fall.

In a press conference earlier this month on Twitter, Pederson had this to say about Hurts:

“The one thing is not having them on the grass. But his growth as a mental standpoint from the beginning of the offseason to now has been very good and his ability to recall plays and recite plays, and one thing (quarterbacks coach) Press Taylor has done is put him into a huddle situation where he’s calling plays and being able to spit that back to him. And he’s done that at a really good, high level.

And now it’s just a matter of once we get him on the grass, he’s got to do it for real and go from there. But I’ve been really impressed with his progress this spring.”

Over time, Hurts could truly become a huge asset for the Eagles, maybe even this season.

Hurts finished the 2019 season at Oklahoma with a career high 3,851 yards passing, as well as a career-high 32 passing TDs. He added a career-best 1,298 yards rushing and career-high 20 rushing touchdowns.

In his college career at Alabama and Oklahoma, Hurts recorded almost 9,500 passing yards and 80 touchdowns along with almost 3,300 rushing yards and 43 rushing touchdowns.

Hurts won a national championship, SEC championship and Big 12 championship during his career. He was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year this past season, as well as the BIG 12 Male Athlete of the Year

With the coronavirus pandemic slowing down the sports world to a crawl, NFL players have been forced to get creative with their training sessions.

Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to play a huge role on offense during his first season and with the pandemic eliminating the opportunity for minicamps, the former Oklahoma star recently got in a workout with star receiver DeSean Jackson.

Hurt posted the pictures to his Instagram story.

Eagles land at No. 7 in a ranking of the eleven-deepest rosters in the NFL

Eagles are No. 7 in a ranking of the 11 deepest rosters in the NFL

The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2020 offseason with the goal of getting younger, faster, and deeper at various positions.

It remains to be seen how fast the young players will be incorporated into the mix but the team is definitely stacked at several positions. In a ranking from Touchdown Wire that lists the 11 deepest rosters in the NFL, Philadelphia landed at No. 7 on the list.

Of course, the Eagles have Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson coming back from injuries, but with those two players on the shelf Wentz’s primary target during last year’s stretch drive was Greg Ward Jr., a converted quarterback playing WR. But via the draft and a trade, the Eagles added Jalen Reagor, John Hightower, Quez Watkins, and Marquise Goodwin.

On top of the wide receiver depth, the Birds have two of the top tight ends in the NFL along with a top-10 offensive line, even without Brandon Brooks.

On defense, the line was bolstered by the addition of Javon Hargrave at defensive tackle and the return of the versatile Malik Jackson.

In the secondary, Darius Slay joins a revamped secondary that also welcomes Nickell Robey-Coleman Will Parks and rookie K’Von Wallace.
