NFL draft history: Every player selected with the 219th pick since 2010

We’re looking at every player selected with the 219th pick in the NFL Draft since 2010

The Eagles need impact players on both sides of the ball, and with two first-round picks in this month’s draft, Howie Roseman will have another opportunity to add depth to a Super Bowl-caliber roster.

With so much parity in college football now, sixth and seventh-round picks offer an opportunity to land a solid player, but the list of No. 219 overall picks has left much to be desired.

With the NFL draft fast approaching, we’re looking at every player selected at No. 219 overall since 2010.

Titans claim Carson Green off waivers, cut Derwin Gray

The Titans made a pair of roster moves on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans have been awarded offensive lineman Carson Green off waivers, the team announced on Monday. To make room on the roster, the Titans released offensive lineman Derwin Gray.

Green, 23, is the latest former Houston Texan to make their way north to Nashville. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman was released on Saturday.

He went undrafted out of Texas A&M in 2021 and signed with the Texans as a rookie free agent. Green was waived prior to the start of the season and added to the team’s practice squad.

At College Station, he played in 48 games, including 40 starts, all at the right tackle position. The Southlake, Texas native was credited for allowing just five sacks in his final three seasons on campus, per Pro Football Focus.

Green will have the opportunity to come in and compete for a backup spot on the Titans’ 53-man roster, or quite possibly a spot on the practice squad.

Gray, 27, was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft. He played in five games during the 2020 season, accounting for 25 snaps on offense and 11 on special teams.

In December 2020, the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Gray off waivers, signing him a one-year exclusive-rights free agent deal in March 2021.

In August of that year, the Maryland product was waived and claimed by the Titans. Gray was released in September and re-signed to the practice squad in October.

Shortly after the Titans’ postseason loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, he was signed to a reserve/futures contract.

Colts held tryout for 4 players

Colts held a workout for 4 players on Monday.

The Indianapolis Colts held a tryout for four players on Monday, per the league’s transaction wire.

This seemed to be more of a random workout rather than the team looking for specific positions. The four players included wide receiver Anthony Johnson, tight end David Wells, offensive tackle Derwin Gray and safety Ronnell Perkins.

The Colts are dealing with injuries at just about every position. The most important one comes at quarterback where Carson Wentz has not one but two ankle sprains. It’s unclear whether he will be playing in the Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium.

The Colts are also dealing with injuries to right tackle Braden Smith (foot), left guard Quenton Nelson (back), linebacker Darius Leonard (ankle) and cornerback Xavier Rhodes (calf).

The Colts started 0-2 for the first time since 2017 and will be looking to bounce back in their first divisional game of the season.

Jags waive 1 player on offense, 2 on defense

To get their roster to 80 players, the Jags waived OG Derwin Gray, CB Jameson Houston, and DT Kenny Randall in addition to placing Travis Etienne on IR Tuesday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had some roster moves to make Tuesday to trim their roster down to 80 and decided to waive three players. Those three players were guard Derwin Gray, cornerback Jameson Houston, and defensive tackle Kenny Randall.

In addition to these moves, the Jags also put first-round pick Travis Etienne on injured reserve after he sustained a foot injury that will require surgery.

Gray, who saw the field for just two special teams snaps Monday, joined the Jags last December after the Jags added him off waivers. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers where he participated in five games.

Houston was a player the Jags acquired this offseason for a 2023 sixth-round draft selection and former cornerback Josiah Scott. He saw the field for 10 defensive snaps and eight special-teams snaps against the New Orleans Saints Monday.

Lastly, Randall was a player the Jags signed in undrafted free agency out of Charleston (West Virginia) after April’s draft. He took the field for nine defensive snaps in the Jags’ last preseason game but wasn’t able to register a tackle.

Jags 2021 training camp: 5 under-the-radar names to watch on offense

There is always a star who pops out from nowhere during training camp and that might be Chris Manhertz for the Jags this year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will start their training camp in a few weeks and it will be a great time to learn about the new-look team, which endured a lot of change this offseason. If fans can attend, a lot of eyes will be on notables like Trevor Lawrence, DJ Chark, and James Robinson to name a few on offense, but there will also be some under-the-radar names who catch fans by surprise.

Let’s take a look at five low-key players on offense who could surprise fans for many different reasons.

Week 9 Inactives, Captains: Cowboys still won’t play Anae, Robinson but Elliott to go

With the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers getting ready for kickoff in Arlington, the official inactive lists have been released.

With the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers getting ready for kickoff in Arlington, the official inactive lists have been released. Ezekiel Elliott, after going through a closely monitored pregame workout routine, is indeed active despite being limited in practice throughout the week. He has yet to miss a game due to injury in his career.

There was some thought that the soft tank would be on for a team that has nothing meaningful to play for the rest of the year, but the team apparently hasn’t reached that point yet, though that could change. The official inactive list can be seen below:

Linebacker Joe Thomas is out with a wrist injury despite returning to practice, though in a limited fashion, on Friday. It will presumably be Sean Lee who fills his shoes.

Defensive end Aldon Smith, who has been dealing with an ailing knee for a couple of weeks will be available for use, though it’s possible he’s on a limited pitch count with Randy Gregory on the gameday roster. Rookie defensive back Reggie Robinson is still not able to get onto the active roster so far this year. The fourth-round pick has been healthy but a scratch all season. Likewise, fifth-round DE Bradlee Anae is inactive as well.

For the Steelers, Defensive tackle Tyson Alualu is out, though that had been reported earlier in the week, which will give the interior of the Dallas line a bit of a break. His replacement is rookie Carlos Davis, a seventh-round pick out of Nebraska.

Week 9 Captains

Meanwhile, the choices for captains for the Cowboys must be getting slim, because it’s a ragtag bunch of players getting the nod this week. Wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, defensive tackle Antwaun Woods and C.J. Goodwin make up that crew.
