Clemson lands massive commitment from Top-70 4-star Guard Del Jones

Brad Brownell and the Clemson basketball staff are on a hot streak recruiting in the 2024 class.

Monday, Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.) four-star point guard Del Jones announced that he has verbally committed to play for Brownell and the Tigers. This is a massive pickup for the Tigers and is further proof that this program is trending in the right direction. 

According to ESPN’s recruiting rankings, Jones is currently the No.14 guard and No.66 overall player in the 2024 class. Jones chose Clemson over Arizona State, Oregon, Tennessee, and West Virginia, some big basketball schools. 

Jones is now the third member of Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class, which includes Top-100 recruit Dallas Thomas and legacy commit Ace Buckner.

Four-star point guard Del Jones announced his top-eight schools.

Tennessee, Oregon, West Virginia, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Clemson, Providence and Ole Miss are Jones’ top eight schools.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound point guard transferred to Arizona Preparatory School in Chandler, Arizona during the offseason.

Jones is the No. 76 overall prospect and No. 12 point guard in 2024. He ranks as the No. 1 point guard and No. 6 player in Arizona, according to On3 Sports industry rankings.

Jones is playing for Team Durant on the EYBL Circuit, averaging 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting 41.5 percent in field goal attempts.

He scored a season-high 22 points against Mokan Elite on April 29.

While Oregon Duck fans wait to see whether or not Dana Altman can get the team back on the right track in 2023 on the hardwood, it’s become very clear that he is still near the peak of his powers when it comes to recruiting.

After landing a top-10 class in the 2023 cycle, Altman is starting to put the bones together for another impressive 2024 class. While there aren’t any commitments just yet, a number of players have put the Ducks among their top schools, with the latest being 4-star point guard Del Jones.

Jones is rated as the No. 64 player in the 2024 class and the No. 7 PG. Standing at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Jones is also the No. 1 ranked player in the state over Virginia.
