Grant Delpit has hilarious answer when asked how to prepare for Derrick Henry

As the Browns get set to take on Derrick Henry and the Ravens, Grant Delpit has one solution to help them prepare for the massive Baltimore running back

To prepare to stop Derrick Henry, the Cleveland Browns, like many other NFL teams, are searching for answers as they get set to take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. Instead, Browns safety Grant Delpit had a brilliant idea on how the scout team could provide the Cleveland Browns defense with a more realistic test: putting Dawand Jones as scout team running back.

When asked about how to prepare for star Ravens running back Derrick Henry, Delpit jokingly answered, “We’re just going to put Dawand back there and have him give us a couple of looks.”

Running back Derrick Henry is recognized for his unique size and dominance in his position, which makes him incredibly difficult to tackle. Delpit’s joke demonstrates that the Browns are doing all possible to prepare, but there is no real method to stop Derrick Henry in the open field.

He has been the best running back in the NFL this year for a reason. We’ll see if the Browns can be one of the first teams to stop him on Sunday.

Veteran Jack Conklin gets the start over struggling Dawand Jones

The Browns make a change to their offensive line with the return of the two-time All-Pro

The Cleveland Browns have finally gotten Jack Conklin back on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he even got the start over second-year player Dawand Jones.

Conklin, who suffered a severe knee injury in the first week of the season in 2023 and missed the rest of the season and the first six weeks this year, is finally back in the lineup. Head coach Kevin Stefanski stated that he would not disclose the role of Conklin heading into this Week 6 game.

Then he stepped onto the field with the first-team offense at the right tackle post. This does not come as too much of a surprise as Jones has struggled mightily in his second season after a stellar rookie campaign. With Jedrick Wills making his second start in a row and third on the season, the Browns have their original starting offensive tackles back on the field for the first time this season as they look to right the ship against the Eagles.

3 key matchups for Raiders vs Browns

3 key matchups for Raiders vs Browns

With all the injuries, it can be tough to keep up with who is playing and who is not. But let’s try. Here are some key matchups that figure to play a role in who comes out victorious in this week’s tilt between the Raiders and Browns.

Kolton Miller vs Myles Garrett

The biggest star taking the field in this game is lining up at edge rusher for the Browns. Garrett the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He has averaged over 15 sacks per season the past three seasons and already has two this season.

Meanwhile Kolton Miller has looked probably the worst he’s ever looked in Luke Getsy’s new zone blocking scheme. He has already surrendered five sacks this season along with several run stuffs as well. This could get messy if the Raiders aren’t careful.

Jakorian Bennett vs Amari Cooper

Coop is coming off a career-best season in which he put up 1250 yards receiving while averaging 17.4 yards per catch. It earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl since 2019. Bennett has played pretty well this season and this could be his toughest test yet.

Tyree Wilson vs Dawand Jones

It’s backup vs backup. Who will show they belong? Wilson will be asked to pick up the slack with Maxx Crosby not expected to play. And Jones will be stepping in for the injured Jack Conklin.

Jones started nine games last season and has started the first three this season as well. He has surrendered two sacks in the first three games after giving up three sacks last season. Wilson has 3.5 career sacks, all last season.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson has been terrible this season, but if he has time to throw or room to run around, he can carve up the Raiders. Wilson’s one job will be the keep that from happening.

Dawand Jones injured knee vs. Jaguars; doesn’t practice Wednesday

The Browns may be down another offensive tackle.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Dawand Jones would not practice with the team on Wednesday after injuring his knee in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

During his bounce back performance in Jacksonville, he apparently injured his knee and could affect his status to play this Sunday. Jones was able to finish the matchup against the Jaguars in Week 2 and it’s unclear when exactly the injury occurred.

Coach Stefanski did not provide much detail on how long Dawand Jones could be out for or which knee he hurt. Based on the limited information, the extent of this injury this may be fresh news to the Browns head coach.

The Browns offensive line room has struggled with injuries to begin the season. In a time when they need it most, Browns starting right tackle Jack Conklin is in line to make his first start of the season against the Giants this weekend.

If Dawand Jones is unable to play, the Browns will do everything they can to get Conklin ready to make his 2024 debut.

RT Dawand Jones leaves Jaguars game with cramps Questionable to Return

The Cleveland Browns right tackle Dawand Jones exited the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with cramps.

The Cleveland Browns right tackle Dawand Jones exited the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the second quarter. The second-year tackle was shown heading into the locker room with a couple of trainers.

Jones is suffering from cramps and his return is questionable. The Browns are playing in Jacksonville.

The tackle was starting in place for an injured Jack Conklin. Conklin was listed as inactive by the Browns this morning. Germain Ifedi has replaced Jones in the lineup. Hopefully, Jones can return later in the game. The Browns need him healthy this season.

The Browns have started hot. The Browns have bullied the Jaguars on both sides of the ball. The defense has shut down the Jaguars to a handful of plays. The Browns offense has steamrolled over the Jaguars’ defense on two drives. The Browns must continue dominating the Jaguars in the trenches for them to secure a win today.

Browns: Kevin Stefanski comments on two injured Buckeyes

The pair should return to practice shortly

The Cleveland Browns held their first padded practice of the year on Monday, their fourth training camp practice overall. Cleveland was without two of their talented young lineman, with right tackle Dawand Jones and rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. absent from practice.

After practice, head coach Kevin Stefanski discussed the pair, saying they would be back “shortly” and that their injuries were not serious. Earlier in the day, the team placed veteran center Brian Allen on injured reserve, so it is important to avoid another injury on the offensive line this early.

Jones is the only offensive tackle practicing out of their top three. Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin are still sidelined with their knee injuries, which ended their seasons early in 2023.

Hall, the Browns’ second-round pick this year, has turned some heads in practice with his rare athleticism at his size. Cleveland will be back on the practice field on Tuesday as they continue to prepare for the 2024 season.

Browns O-line ranks highly in the latest rankings by Establish the Run

The Cleveland Browns offensive line was ranked inside the top 3 by Brandon Thorn for Establish the Run heading into the 2024 NFL season

The offensive line of the Cleveland Browns continues to receive high praise heading into the NFL season. Brandon Thorn of Trench Warfare ranked all 32 offensive line units ahead of the season for Establish the Run.

Thorn believes the Browns have the third-best offensive line in football. Thorn acknowledges that the loss of Bill Callahan may negatively affect the team, but he believes that the consistency on the offensive line will compensate for Callahan’s loss.

New offensive line coach Andy Dickerson is a good coach. He interviewed for the offensive coordinator job before he was hired as the line coach. Dickerson teaches the independent hand-striking technique that former Browns coaches Scott Peters and Callahan created. Dickerson is a competent coach who will do a good job replacing Callahan.

Thorn has Jack Conklin as the projected right tackle going into the season. The former All-Pro tackle has been battling through injuries over the last few years that have limited his playing time. Conklin started training camp on the PUP list. Starting left tackle, Jed Wills is also listed on the PUP list as he recovers from his torn MCL last year.

The Browns found an excellent replacement for Conklin in Dawand Jones. Jones was fantastic in his rookie year before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Both tackles look healthy before the start of the season and their battle to start will be an exciting showdown.

The Browns offensive line will guide the team to success by providing consistency to an offense that relies on variance.

WATCH: Browns OT Dawand Jones looks healthy on the basketball court ahead of training camp

Jones looks healthy and ready to go

The Cleveland Browns offensive line, specifically the offensive tackle position, was plagued with injuries in 2023, with the top three all suffering season-ending injuries. Veteran Jack Conklin announced on social media that he is back, but Dawand Jones is the only one of the three who participated in off-season workouts.

Jones is recovering from a knee injury and recently played basketball at his old high school. The video, posted on social media, really highlights his crazy athleticism for his size. With training camp just around the corner, it is clear that Jones is healthy and ready to head into his second NFL season.

The Browns have an interesting decision to make at right tackle this year. It is clear that Dawand Jones is the future at the position, but when healthy, Jack Conklin is one of the best in the game. Personally, I would start Jones and have Conklin be the swing tackle this season.

“Big Thanos” has made his debut on social media

It’s one thing to get a cool nickname, it’s another to take it to heart, and that’s exactly what former Ohio State offensive tackle [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag] has done.

The “Big Thanos” moniker was partly due to his massive size at 6-foot, 8-inches and 374-pounds. Many believed that Jones would get selected early in the NFL draft, but he fell to the fourth round where the Cleveland Browns struck gold.

During this past season, Jones started 9 of 11 games when he was active, showing massive potential as he continues his career. Unfortunately a knee injury ended his year prematurely, but the future is bright.

On Sunday, Jones changed his social media profile picture to his nickname, “Big Thanos.” Check it out below!

A play on Marvel supervillain Thanos, wearing Jones’ No. 79 is the perfect fit for him. It’s pretty cool to see him really buying into his nickname.

Browns Podcast: Breaking down the offensive tackle room and more

There are some questions surrounding the tackle group

Training camp for the 2024 Cleveland Browns season is just a few weeks away, with rookies reporting on July 22nd at Veterans on the 23rd.

Last week, some videos were posted to social media showing Nick Chubb completing stability drills on his injured knee. That is significant, and realistically, Chubb could return earlier than previously thought.

Last year, the depth at offensive tackle was tested. The team started players off the street as their top three tackles suffered season-ending injuries. Jedrick Wills Jr. is in a contract year, and the team still isn’t sure if he is the answer with inconsistent play throughout his career so far.

Jack Conklin has battled back-to-back season-ending injuries, and promising young right tackle Dawand Jones will push to start after a great rookie season. You can hear a complete breakdown of the offensive tackle group by watching our latest episode by clicking here.
