Sights and sounds from the first full contact practice of camp

The Browns continue to increase the pace of practice with the Hall of Fame game less than a week away

The Cleveland Browns put on pads for the first time on Friday and then on Saturday they began contact and hitting as they continue to ramp up. The Browns will play the Jets this coming Thursday for the Hall of Fame game as the return of football is nearly here.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson continued to have a strong training camp spreading the ball around and making throws on every level of the defense. He wasn’t perfect as cornerback Denzel Ward had a great one-on-one rep against Elijah Moore in the red zone even though Moore ended up stealing the ball from Ward.

Let’s take a look at some of the media availability as well as clips from Saturday’s practice.

Sights and sounds from the first padded Browns practice of camp

For the first time this summer, the Browns put their shoulder pads during training camp. Take a look:

The preparation for the 2023 season continues to ramp up as the Browns wore pads for the first time during Friday’s training camp practice.

They weren’t going full speed and hitting, which they will do for the first time during Saturday’s camp practice. Wide receiver Amari Cooper returned to the field after missing the past few practices with a minor injury.

Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson spoke during a media availability after practice and raved about defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo and how he has flown under the radar since the Za’Darius Smith trade took place.

Let’s take a look at some of the sound bites and clips from Friday’s padded practice:

WATCH: Jordan Akins goes above the rim for absurd snag

The chemistry between Deshaun Watson and Jordan Akins has carried over from Houston to the Browns

One of the more underrated additions for the Cleveland Browns this offseason was former Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins. He has a history with his quarterback Deshaun Watson having played together in Houston. Akins is an underrated athlete with the size and strength to make the tough contested catches, especially in the red zone.

With training camp well under way it is clear that the connection between Akins and Watson is still there. During Thursday’s practice he made an impressive reception going up and over the defensive back to snag a pass from Watson. If this is a preview of what we will see during the season then the passing offense could be impressive.

Sights and sounds from day four of Browns training camp in Greenbrier

The fourth day is a wrap with a day off on Wednesday

Another day of Cleveland Browns training camp is in the books as the team continues the ramp-up process. For the second day, the team held some 11-on-11 periods and it was clear they were picking up the pace and running closer to 100% after a slower pace the previous couple of practices.

Amari Cooper again was off to the side with trainers as the team is being cautious to avoid serious injury. Outside of that no real note-worthy injury news as rookie tackle Dawand Jones returned to the field after missing a couple of days with a sickness.

Let’s take a look at some of the sights and sounds from the fourth practice day of the Browns’ training camp.

Sights and sounds from day three of Browns training camp in Greenbrier

Training camp continues to ramp up down in West Virginia

The third day of Cleveland Browns training camp is in the books as the team held their first 11-on-11 periods of the summer. Head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke before practice saying that the injury to wide receiver Amari Cooper that caused him to leave Sunday’s practice was minor. In fact, Cooper worked off to the side with trainers and it seems the team is just being cautious.

The team is continuing to ramp practice up a little each day as they are far from going 100% so far. Some interesting notes as the OBR’s Fred Greetham noted that Newsome lined up in the slot during the 11-on-11 period and that Jordan Elliott started next to Dalvin Tomlinson on the interior.

Now let’s take a look at more sights and sounds from Monday’s practice.

Sights and sounds from day two of Browns training camp in Greenbrier

The first full practice is now in the books for the Browns

Training camp is underway for the Cleveland Browns and after a walk-through on Saturday, they had their first full practice of camp on Sunday at the Greenbrier in West Virginia as Deshaun Watson and company get back to work.

After they participated in walk-throughs yesterday it was great to see linebackers Sione Takitaki and Anthony Walker Jr. participating in position drills already. Though you can’t learn a lot from unpadded practices especially this early in camp it is nice to see the Browns on the football field again. The team focused a lot on individual drills as they normally do this early in camp as they work to get everyone back up to speed.

Here’s a look at some of the sights and sounds from the second day of training camp.

3 takeaways from Kevin Stefanski’s press conference to open training camp

The Browns head coach spoke with the media to kick off training camp

The 2023 training camp for the Cleveland Browns is finally underway as the team held a walkthrough Saturday at the Greenbrier in West Virginia. Once the walkthrough was complete Kevin Stefanski spoke for the first time since the end of mandatory minicamp last month.

Stefanski started by talking about being excited to be back and in a great place for team bonding and working to prepare for the season. He talked about being excited to return to Berea and be in front of the fans for the team’s first open practice on August first.

Here are my three main takeaways from Stefanski’s media availability on the first day of training camp.

Podcast: Predicting the Browns’ final 53-man roster prior to training camp

How does the roster shake out as camp opens?

With the remainder of the Cleveland Browns roster reporting to training camp the long NFL off-season has finally come to an end. The team will have its first practice at the Greenbrier on Sunday. A majority of the roster is likely set going into training camp outside of a few roster battles that’ll take place.

In this week’s podcast, I was joined by Dawg Pound Daily’s Randy Gurzi and Casey Kinnamon to predict how the 53-man rosters will play out barring injuries. You can watch this episode by clicking here to see what the four of us predict will happen in training camp with the return of Browns football.

8 biggest questions entering Browns training camp

The 8 biggest questions that need to get answered in Browns training camp

Cleveland Browns training camp kicks off with the rookies reporting on Friday and the full team convening shortly thereafter. The Browns head to Berea for Kevin Stefanski’s third season as head coach with quite a few questions.

The biggest of those is what happens with QB Deshaun Watson, but that’s a greater question than can be answered in training camp. My questions for the Browns deal more with things that can be resolved in training camp and the three preseason games.

Here are the top questions for the Browns to answer on the practice field in training camp.
