Over 5,000 college football players have opted in to be in EA Sports College Football 25

EA Sports confirms over 5,000 players have confirmed they will be in the long-awaited college football video game this year.

When Penn State running back Nick Singleton announced on his Instagram feed that he had opted in to officially be included in the upcoming release of EA Sports College Football 25, he was clearly not alone. According to a representative from EA Sports, over 5,000 college football players have already opted in to have their name, image, and likeness included in the long-awaited revival of the gaming publisher’s iconic college football video game franchise.

“More than 5,000 college athletes have opted-in across more than 130 FBS schools… in less than 12 hours,” John Reseburg, VP of Global Marketing, Communications, and Partnerships for EA Sports, said in a message on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account last Thursday. “The total keeps growing.”

By now, it is unknown just what that number has escalated too, although it should not be surprising to know college football players around the country, including at Penn State, are taking advantage of the opportunity to capitalize on their inclusion in the game.

EA Sports is reportedly providing a $600 NIL payment to any college football player who chooses to opt-in to be included in the game, which will be releasing sometime this summer (official release date to be announced in May). Each player opting in will also receive a free copy of the game for whichever gaming console they choose.

EA Sports has not released a college football video game since 2013 with the release of NCAA Football 14. Legal battles over NIL got too heavy to deal with and schools and conferences began backing out of being included in the game, putting the beloved franchise on the shelf waiting for the right time to properly bring the game back to the masses.

Now in the era of NIL in college sports, the time is now.

It has been reported that while the basic deal for athletes will be for $600 and a free copy of the game, some athletes will receive wealthier NIL packages as brand ambassadors for the game. It is assumed Singleton is in that category based on his recent Instagram post.

Penn State RB Nick Singleton will be in EA Sports College Football 25

EA Sports College Football 25 will include this star Penn State running back.

College football video game fans are in for a real treat later this summer when EA Sports finally brings its college football video game franchise back from the dead. EA Sports College Football 25 is set for a summer release, with a confirmed launch date still to be announced. But the video game giant is busy getting the hype started months ahead of schedule with schools and players being confirmed to be included in the first iteration of a college football video game in over a decade.

Penn State has confirmed it will be included in the game, and a computer rendering of the Nittany Lion mascot was seen in the first official video tease of the upcoming title from EA Sports recently. And now details have come out confirming how players choosing to be a part of the game will be compensated. Every FBS player is eligible to opt-in to being included in the game for a return of $600 and a free copy of the game from EA Sports. Among those who have announced they are opting in is Penn State running back [autotag]Nick Singleton[/autotag].

Singleton posted a graphic on his Instagram account this week confirming he is in the game. It has been reported EA Sports will have increased packages for some more notable athletes who become ambassadors for the franchise. Judging by the graphic and the hashtag used on Singleton’s Instagram post, it may be safe to assume Singleton is a part of that marketing strategy.

EA Sports College Football is expected to be made available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. There are no reports of the game being made available on Nintendo Switch or PC at this time, which would be a real bummer for those of us dreaming of taking the game on the go with the Switch (honestly, I’d be perfectly fine if EA Sports decided to serve up a port of NCAA Football 14 with updated rosters and dump it on the Switch).

Projecting the five highest-rated Blue Devils in EA Sports’ College Football 25

With EA Sports College Football 25 on the horizon, here’s our ranking of who we think will be the five highest-rated Duke players in the game.

EA Sports has officially done it. They have successfully built the momentum for the latest installment in their beloved college football video game series. It’s been a long wait, but with the teaser trailer they dropped earlier in February and the confirmation early this week that every FBS team had opted in for the video game, it’s finally starting to feel real. The official reveal of the game will come in May.

According to ESPN, Thursday was also the first day that college football players could begin opting to participate in the video game. The report said players would receive $600 and a free game copy. With the momentum of this game hitting a fever pitch and the fact that we are getting closer to release, we decided to look at how Duke may look when the game is released.Without further ado, here’s a look at who we think will be the five highest-rated Blue Devils in the new game when it releases this summer.

ESPN reporter Holly Rowe has a message for EA Sports College Football 25: ‘Don’t forget about women’

Holly Rowe makes an important point about EA Sports College Football 25.

EA Sports College Football 25 is set to drop, and ESPN analyst Holly Rowe has an important message for the iconic game brand.

Don’t forget about women in the game.

With the return of EA Sports College Football announced this week, there has been a rollout of news about the game. From players being able to opt-into the game to news about the announcers (Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler among others), there is absolute excitement about the game’s return.

But on Thursday night, Rowe brought about a great point about the game. A highly respected sideline reporter for ESPN, Rowe doesn’t ask cookie-cutter questions. And she didn’t with her post on social media.

Rowe has been with ESPN since 1998. She is a regular on the sidelines for ESPN’s marquee college football games throughout the fall.

She also works for the Utah Jazz as an on-air analyst.

Former Georgia Bulldog, ESPN commentator David Pollack to be included in new CFB video game

EA Sports gets it right by including former UGA All-American David Pollack

Georgia Bulldogs fans weren’t happy when ESPN dropped former UGA All-American David Pollack from the “College Gameday” set last year. The good news for Georgia faithful is Pollack will be included as a commentator in EA Sports’ new college football video game.

On Thursday, programs throughout the country announced their participation in “EA Sports College Football 25”. The highly-anticipated game has been in the works since 2021 when new name, image and likeness (NIL) rules allowed for student-athletes to be compensated for their likeness. The game was discontinued in 2014 due to previous NIL issues.

Georgia is one of 134 Football Bowl Subdivision schools to be included. Fans will be able to play Between the Hedges with UGA players who elect to opt-in. EA Sports is paying $600 plus a copy of the game (approximately worth $70) athletes who choose to do so.

Star quarterback Carson Beck is the first Georgia player to announce his participation. He’ll likely be one of the highest-rated players in the game.

Joining Pollack as commentators are Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer and Kevin Connors. While players and college football figure heads will be featured, coaches like Kirby Smart won’t be in this year’s version of the game.

EA Sports’ projects a summer release, although no specific date has been announced.

The most important things Oregon fans should know about EA Sports College Football 25

A lot of new information was released about the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game, so here’s what Oregon Duck fans need to know.

Last week, college football fans got a pleasant surprise when the official announcement came out for EA Sports College Football 25, the return of a beloved video game that is set for this summer.

Since that initial announcement, more and more details have started to come out about what, and who will actually be included in the game, and what type of game play fans will be able to expect.

There is a lot of information out there, both expected and unexpected, and still a lot of speculation about what the game will look like, and when it will ultimately be released in the summer months. However, we’ve gotten a lot of answers to questions this past week.

I’ve taken the information we’ve gleaned and applied it to fans of the Oregon Ducks, giving a better view of what the game might look likee for them in the future. Here’s what Duck fans need to know about the game:

Blue Devils confirm they are in EA Sports College Football 25

Duke football will officially be included in EA Sports College Football 25, the return of the highly anticipated college football video game series.

It was probably a foregone conclusion for most Duke fans at this point, but the Blue Devils are officially in the game.

Duke football announced on Thursday through social media that the team would be included in EA Sports College Football 25 when it releases this summer.

Blue Devil fans will (more than likely) be able to work with new quarterback transfer Maalik Murphy and other Duke stars as they build a dynasty in Durham.

Coaches, like new Blue Devils leader Manny Diaz, will reportedly not be in the game.

An ESPN report on Thursday said players do need to opt in for their name, image, and likeness to be used in the new game. Players would be compensated $600 and a free copy of the game if they chose to do so.

The game does not yet have an official release date, but it is expected in the summer of 2024.

Marcus Mariota on the cover? What could have been for NCAA Football 16

Oregon legendary quarterback Marcus Mariota could have been on the cover of EA Sports College Football 16 if franchise continued.

When nostalgia is done right, it can be epic, but when it’s done wrong, it can be a proverbial dumpster fire.

The gaming world is about to find out where the cookie crumbles when EA Sports’ College Football 25 comes out in July. All indications are there won’t be a dumpster fire to be found.

It’s been over a decade since EA has presented sports fans with a college football game due to legal reasons. Unfortunately, they had to stop right when Marcus Mariota was on the top of the world leading Oregon to a national title and holding a Heisman Trophy. CBS Sports says the Duck legend would have graced the cover of NCAA Football 16.

This was a very difficult cut to make, and it came down to a pair of quarterbacks that led their teams to a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff: Mariota and Florida State’s Jameis Winston. Both won the Heisman, with Winston following in Johnny Manziel’s footsteps as a freshman winner while also becoming the youngest player to ever take the Heisman home. What sets Mariota apart, however, is his consistent success. It also helps that Mariota plays for Oregon and its imminently marketable uniforms, which look great emblazoned on any promotional material. — Will Buckus, CBS Sports

Mariota would have been the best call here, but it would have been comical to have a picture of Winston spinning himself into oblivion in the Rose Bowl on the cover.

Dillon Gabriel expected to be one of the highest-rated players in EA Sports’ College Football 25

EA Sports College Football 25 is expected to drop in the summer, and Ducks QB Dillon Gabriel is will likely be one of the top-rated players.

It’s been more than 10 years since the last time a college football video game was on the horizon, but on Wednesday, EA Sports announced College Football 25 will be available in the summer.

Fans across the country, including myself, have already begun speculating what will be included in the new game and what will not. After all, college football looks completely different than in 2014, the last time we had an NCAA game. It will be interesting to see how EA implements the changes.

[lawrence-related id=25546,57428]

247Sports joined the speculation by guessing who the highest-rated returning players will be. It’s no surprise that running back Ollie Gordon, the 2023 Doak Walker Award winner, tops the site’s list (99 overall). Travis Hunter, the Colorado Buffaloes two-way star, is a 97 overall. And Dillon Gabriel, the next great Oregon quarterback, is a 94 overall, tied for the third-best QB on the list.

One aspect that will set Gabriel apart in EA’s new game is speed and elusiveness. Back in NCAA 14, there were few things more fun than running around with Gabriel’s childhood hero Marcus Mariota. Gabriel possesses many of the same running traits as Mariota. Of all the QBs on 247 Sports’ list, Gabriel and Jalon Daniels are the quickest, which will make Gabriel a lot of fun to play with.

8 Oregon Ducks who deserve to be on the cover of EA Sports College Football 25

A ranking of the Oregon Ducks who most deserve to be on the cover of EA Sports College Football 25 when it is released this summer.

The college football world has been buzzing over the last 24 hours since the official announcement that one of the most beloved video games will be returning at long last.

On Thursday, EA Sports announced College Football 25 would hit the shelves this summer, giving football fans a chance to play with their favorite teams, running spread offenses with their favorite players — and, hopefully, mascots — in the most iconic stadiums in the nation.

One of the biggest debates since the announcement has been who will be on the cover of the new game, and whether it will be a former player, a current player or a coach.

For the Oregon Ducks, there are several players who are deserving. Oregon legend Joey Harrington graced the cover in 2003, so instead of going through the archives of Ducks’ history, we narrowed the candidate pool to those since the game last was in circulation. Here’s who we think most deserves to be on the cover.
