David Ortiz can’t stop tormenting Derek Jeter and A-Rod over the Yankees’ World Series failures

Ortiz is TOO funny on FOX’s MLB pregame show.

FOX’s MLB panel includes host Kevin Burkhardt with former baseball legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter as well as David Ortiz.

Rodriguez and Jeter were famously teammates on the New York Yankees from 2004 until 2013, winning a World Series together in 2009. Ortiz, on the other hand, played for New York’s biggest rival on the Boston Red Sox.

He is a three-time World Series champion who famously helped pull off one of the biggest upsets in sports history when Boston miraculously came back from a 3-0 deficit in the 2004 ALCS.

Ortiz hilariously continues to be a thorn in the side of Rodriguez and Jeter on FOX’s broadcast. Just watch his reaction to when the Yankees lost Game 3 of the 2024 MLB World Series against the Dodgers on Monday:

This is not the first time fans have seen this hilarious energy from Ortiz, though.

Earlier in the series, after Ice Cube performed before a Dodgers victory in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium, Ortiz declared it was a “good day” because the Yankees lost.

Ortiz recently said he has tremendous “respect” for the Yankees and their fanbase.

But his ability to poke fun at Rodriguez and Jeter for their former team coming up short so far in the series is legitimately very funny to watch.

MLB fans roasted Red Sox legend David Ortiz after he somehow whiffed on his swing during a gender reveal

His wife must’ve read the scouting report.

Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz hasn’t played baseball since 2016. But given that he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, you’d think that Big Papi would be able to handle an underhanded toss with ease.

Guess again.

With Ortiz and his wife, Tiffany, expecting a child, the couple hosted a gender reveal party recently. And the thought was to have Papi reveal the gender by crushing an exploding baseball. It’s a popular gender-reveal concept amongst MLB players — and something Ortiz should have been able to handle.

Instead, we got ourselves an epic blooper.

Tiffany’s toss was a bit high and inside (not where Papi typically liked pitches), but still, you have to at least make contact there. Tiffany must’ve read the scouting report.

Despite the swing-and-miss attempt, everyone was thrilled to see that the couple is expecting a baby boy. MLB fans also had jokes about the video.

David Ortiz to Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum: ‘You’re my dog’

Red Sox great David Ortiz explained why he’s such a fan of Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has accomplished plenty in his young career. But playing beneath the banners that hang in TD Garden serves as a reminder that the fans in Boston expect more than All-Star nods and individual accolades. Championships are the ultimate currency in the Hub.

Few people know about Boston’s rabid sports culture quite like former Red Sox great David Ortiz. The Hall of Fame designated hitter won three championships with the Sox, helping the club end an 86-year title drought and cementing himself as Boston sports royalty in the process. And while Tatum might understand the history and greatness that motivate fans, Ortiz has lived it. Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and this current crop of Celtics players have a lot of work to do to reach those same heights and lofty expectations.

According to Ortiz, however, that time will come. Ortiz recently spoke with NBC Sports Boston about Tatum and why he’s such a supporter of Boston’s rising star.

“First of all, I might be his number one fan in all of Boston,” Ortiz said. “I love Jayson.

David Ortiz pranked Derek Jeter with a custom Red Sox jersey to welcome him to FOX Sports

David Ortiz found the perfect way to prank his new FOX Sports co-worker Derek Jeter.

Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz found the perfect way to prank his brand-new FOX Sports co-worker Derek Jeter on the latter’s first day on the job.

Jeter started his broadcasting career with FOX Sports on Saturday at the MLB World Tour Series in London. The New York Yankees icon will now provide baseball analysis for the fans at home, adding to his immeasurable impact on the game.

Well, Ortiz and Jeter used to be the best of enemies in one of baseball’s most heated rivalries between the Red Sox and Yankees.

Ortiz couldn’t help but bring the rivalry to Saturday’s broadcast by “gifting” Jeter a personalized Boston jersey with his name on it.

As you could imagine, Jeter quickly tossed the Red Sox jersey off the broadcast desk as the rest of the crew, which included Kevin Burkhardt and Jeter’s former Yankees teammate Alex Rodriguez, laughed at Ortiz’s prank.

This is a very funny way of welcoming a former rival to your team, so kudos to Ortiz for refusing to let a day pass without reminding Jeter that some rivalries never go away.

Dallas United player denies racism charges after TST incident vs. West Ham

“I did not use a racist slur towards anyone,” said David Ortiz

A Dallas United player has denied using a racial slur in a match against West Ham at The Soccer Tournament.

A match between the two teams on the first day of the competition was suspended amid allegations of a player directing a racial slur at a West Ham player.

An investigation by tournament organizers concluded that Dallas United violated TST’s code of conduct. After speaking to representatives from both teams, the decision was taken for Dallas United to withdraw from the tournament.

The Dallas United player who was alleged to have used the slur was not named, but now David Ortiz has made a statement on Instagram confirming he is the player in question and denying the charges.

“Racism has never been condoned in my household and it goes without saying that I stand against racism in any shape or form,” Ortiz said on his Instagram story. “I did not use a racist slur towards anyone, and it pains me to have my legacy tarnished in this way.”

Ortiz, 22, came up through the FC Dallas academy before playing professionally in Spain and Colombia. Most recently he’s played in the MASL indoor league and with the U.S. futsal national team.

David Ortiz tells how he recruited Al Horford to the Boston Celtics

The details about how it happened are more than worth a listen, especially if you can hear them from the man that did the recruiting himself.

The Boston Celtics have generally been on good terms with the NHL’s New England Patriots, MLB’s Boston Red Sox and NHL’s Boston Bruins when it comes to solidarity among northeastern sports franchises. So news that Red Sox legend (and fellow native of the Dominican Republic) David Ortiz helped recruit star Celtics big man Al Horford to Boston is not that outrageous of a story.

But the details about how it happened are more than worth a listen, especially if you can hear them from the man that did the recruiting himself. Big Papi did exactly that in a recent interview on the Heavy “Celtics Collective” podcast.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear for yourself how Ortiz managed to change the mind of the then-Atlanta Hawk to get Horford on board with becoming a Boston Celtic.

David Ortiz celebrates Gronk’s retirement with hilarious memory

David Ortiz congratulated Rob Gronkowski in the best way possible.

With former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski retiring on Tuesday, several prominent Boston sports figures extended their congratulations, including former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz.

Ortiz retired following the 2017 baseball season, marking the beginning of a changing of the guard in Boston sports. Ortiz was one of the greatest hitters in Red Sox history, recording 483 home runs and 1,530 RBIs. Those statistics are just a snippet of what he was able to bring to Boston, as he made an impact both on and off the field.

Ortiz congratulated Gronk on his retirement by posting a hilarious video of the two showcasing their musical talents in an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts.

If Gronkowski is looking for ideas to keep himself busy during retirement, a musical career would be intriguing to say the least.

Want to feel old? Here’s a video David Ortiz’s son driving in Manny Ramirez’s kid with an RBI single

Time flies!

Feels like just yesterday that we were watching David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez play for the Boston Red Sox and bring a World Series title to the city.

But it was just in 2016 that Ortiz played his final year. And Manny was being Manny in the majors up until 2011.

Still, yeah, this is going to make you feel old: There’s now footage of Ortiz’s son and Ramirez’s kid playing baseball together.

They’re on the Brockton Rox together in the Futures League and D’Angelo Ortiz drove in Manny Ramirez Jr. with a single. Everyone watching this had the exact same reaction:

David Ortiz is officially a first-ballot Hall of Famer!
