Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz hasn’t played baseball since 2016. But given that he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, you’d think that Big Papi would be able to handle an underhanded toss with ease.
Guess again.
With Ortiz and his wife, Tiffany, expecting a child, the couple hosted a gender reveal party recently. And the thought was to have Papi reveal the gender by crushing an exploding baseball. It’s a popular gender-reveal concept amongst MLB players — and something Ortiz should have been able to handle.
Instead, we got ourselves an epic blooper.

Tiffany’s toss was a bit high and inside (not where Papi typically liked pitches), but still, you have to at least make contact there. Tiffany must’ve read the scouting report.
Despite the swing-and-miss attempt, everyone was thrilled to see that the couple is expecting a baby boy. MLB fans also had jokes about the video.
