Clemson Football’s 2024 Recruiting Class

Here is a look at Clemson football’s 2024 recruiting class after adding two preferred walk-on wide receivers.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff did a phenomenal job with their 2023 recruiting class and look to strike the same magic they did in 2023 with their 2024 class.

The 2024 class looks great on paper, and it looks like the class wrapped things up yesterday. The Tigers added two preferred walk-ons in wide receivers Parker Fulghum and Clark Sanderson, adding depth at wide receiver behind the two studs they have already in this class.

With these additions, we have a clean, full look at what Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class looks like as the program prepares for the 2024 season. Below is a look at each recruit in the Tigers’ 2024 class and where they are ranked in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

12 Tigers in the final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 class

12 Tigers landed in Rivals final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 recruiting class.

For some teams, recruiting means a lot. For a team like Clemson, it means that much more.

Modern college football is very different from what some of us remember growing up. Year after year, the game changes and differs from what we once knew. Right now, the transfer portal is going wild as teams use the portal to build their teams. Each team is different with the transfer portal, but if you look at a team like Florida State from 2023, a majority of a team’s starting lineup can come directly through the portal.

That is not the case for Clemson, who simply doesn’t use the transfer portal often (or even at all, depending on the season). Therefore, recruiting means everything for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program. Luckily for Clemson fans, Swinney and his staff are great at recruiting.

Rivals recently released their final Rivals250 rankings for the 2024 class, with 12 Tigers making the rankings. Here is a look at each of those Tigers and where they rank.

A Clemson defensive line commit showed up in his high school game on Friday.

Four-star defensive lineman Darien Mayo recorded at least two sacks Friday night, one of which was a strip-sack fumble recovery, in a resounding win over the Jones Fightin’ Tigers.

Mayo is the No. 25 defensive lineman prospect and No. 213 overall recruit in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He committed to the Tigers in June.

The Olney, Maryland native said in a postgame interview that he will visit Clemson for one of its home games this season, possibly when the Tigers host Florida State on Sept. 23.

Here are some of Mayo’s highlights from Friday:

Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class so far grouped by position

Here is a look at all 17 current Clemson commits in the 2024 class grouped by their positions.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program have been among the top teams recruiting in the 2024 class as the Tigers look to remain one of the elite programs in college football.

Headlined by two five-star recruits in linebacker Sammy Brown and wide receiver Bryant Wesco, the Tigers have future stars ready to make an impact for the Tigers in this class. The most recent commitment in the class came from four-star cornerback Corian Gipson, who committed to the Tigers Saturday, choosing Clemson over top competitor Texas.

Now ranked the No.6 class in On3’s 2024 industry team recruiting class rankings, the Tigers have talent committed across multiple positions of need in this class. Here is a look at all 17 recruits committed to Clemson right now grouped by their position.

Michigan football loses out on another top 2024 target

Not good.

Call it zero-for-two for Michigan football out of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel in 2024.

The former high school of once-Wolverine cornerback Blake Countess appeared to have the inside track for two players from the storied high school in the DMV, yet linebacker Aaron Chiles surprised last week by choosing Florida over the maize and blue, despite having been a longtime lean to come to Ann Arbor. The other player out of Good Counsel who appeared to make Michigan his choice also opted for another opportunity.

2024 four-star EDGE Darien Mayo is ranked the No. 178 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and was expected to make it to Ann Arbor for his official visit this weekend. However, instead, he committed to Clemson.

With Mayo off the board, Michigan will continue to focus on Jacob Smith — twin brother of current commit Jerod Smith — and Deerfield Beach (Fla.) four-star Elias Rudolph, who appears to be trending to the Wolverines after unexpectedly eliminating Ohio State and choosing not to take his official visit to Columbus.

Michigan football trending to land high-profile 2024 edge rusher

Fingers crossed! #GoBlue

Michigan football is working diligently to land a trip or prospects from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel in 2024.

The maize and blue have been long trending for four-star linebacker Aaron Chiles and are in the top group for wide receiver Elijah Moore. But what about four-star edge rusher Darien Mayo?

2024 edge rusher Darien Mayo is a four-star, rated the highest by On3’s proprietary rankings at No. 89 overall. He’s the eighth-best edge rusher and No. 2 player in the state of Maryland, also per On3. On Friday, he released a top six, and Michigan football made the cut along with Ohio State, Maryland, Clemson, South Carolina, and USC.

And things appear to be looking good for Mayo to land in Ann Arbor. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Michigan is the team to beat, as he put in a prediction for Mayo to the Wolverines on Tuesday morning.

Good Counsel has long been a powerhouse school in the DMV. Michigan football has had limited success recruiting the Maryland-based high school, but it did have one of its former star players hail from there in cornerback Blake Countess.

Ohio State in top 6 for 2024 Maryland 4-star pass rusher

The Buckeyes have a chance at landing the talented pass rusher #GoBucks

The search for pass rushers is endless and for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag], they are still looking for their first one of the 2024 recruiting class.

There is no doubt that defensive line coach Larry Johnson is going to find more than a few good ones who will suit up for the Scarlet and Gray. One of those targets is Maryland edge rusher [autotag]Darien Mayo[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 7-inch, 250-pound lineman released his top six remaining schools, with Ohio State making the cut. It’s a heavy Big Ten list, with four of the schools either in the conference or soon will be for the 17th ranked edge and 181st overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Mayo has scheduled just two official visits at the moment, one of them being to Columbus early next month. After the trip, we will get a much better reading on where the talented pass rusher will end up. OSU must contend with Michigan, Clemson, South Carolina, USC, and Maryland as the other teams on Mayo’s list.

Michigan football makes top six for elite 2024 edge rusher

Can #Michigan nab both players it wants from this elite school? #GoBlue

Michigan football is working hard to make in-roads at an elite DMV school in 2024.

The Wolverines are presumed leaders for 2024 Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star linebacker Aaron Chiles, but the maize and blue are hoping to also attain an edge rusher from the same school — which just happens to be where former cornerback Blake Countess played.

Mayo has no predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but Ohio State has a slight statistical edge as of this writing according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

He’s slated to make an official visit to Ann Arbor on June 23, 2023, but will also see Clemson, Columbus, and Los Angeles in the weeks leading up to the visit.

Michigan football locks in official visit for top 100 2024 edge rusher

Could he be a package deal with another top target? #GoBlue

The Wolverines are hoping to get something of a package deal with a duo at an elite high school program in the DMV.

The maize and blue have long been after four-star linebacker Aaron Chiles, but he has a high-profile teammate, Darien Mayo, at Olney (Maryland) Good Counsel that Michigan football would love to have rushing the edge ahead of him. On3 is the highest on Mayo, listing him as the No. 88 prospect overall nationally, the ninth-best edge rusher and the second-best player from the state of Maryland (On3 has Chiles as the fourth-best, while 247Sports has him as the first).

Mayo announced four official visit locations for the month of June. The final visit will be to see the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

Of course, seeing other powerhouses such as Clemson, USC and Ohio State before them could pose a problem for the Wolverines, but having the last say in a string of visits could set Michigan up nicely.

Mayo is listed at 6-foot-7, 247-pounds and has no 247Sports crystal ball predictions. Michigan has no edge rushers or defensive ends pledged in the 2024 class.
