Cardinals re-sign WR Dan Chisena for 2024

Chisena had two special teams tackles in four games for Arizona before playing two games with the Ravens in the postseason.

The Arizona Cardinals are bringing back a core special teams player they had late in the season. They announced that receiver Dan Chisena was signed ti a futures contract for 2024.

Chisena was on the Cardinals’ practice squad late in the season and was elevated to the active roster to play in the final three games. He appeared in four games total. He played one offensive snap in four games and 53 special teams snaps with a pair of tackles.

After the season, the Cardinals released Chisena before his contract expired, allowing him to sign with the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad. He played in both the Ravens’ postseason games.

Now he is set to spend at least the offseason with the Cardinals, hoping to impress enough to find a more permanent spot on the roster.

Vikings make 4 roster moves on Tuesday

After the injury to Dean Lowry on Sunday night, the Minnesota Vikings made four roster moves on Tuesday to fortify the roster

Due to the injury to defensive end Dean Lowry on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, the Minnesota Vikings made some roster moves on Tuesday afternoon to fortify the roster.

On Monday afternoon, they lost outside linebacker Benton Whitley to the New York Giants, who signed him to their active roster.

Let’s take a look at the four roster moves made by the Vikings on Tuesday.

2 veteran free agents worked out for the Seahawks on Monday

John Schneider said the team is still working on some roster stuff but is hoping to have the Week 1 roster set by afternoon today.

The Seattle Seahawks announced five roster and practice squad moves just before yesterday’s practice. Sounds like they aren’t quite done yet, though.

Speaking with reporters before practice, general manager John Schneider said the team is still working on some roster stuff but is hoping to have the Week 1 roster set by afternoon today.

That means we should expect to see a couple more moves.

As to who they might pick up it’s anybody’s guess, but the team did work out two free agents yesterday.

Former Vikings WR Dan Chisena

Aside from finding some sort of magic solution to improve their interior defensive line rotation, the top priority for the Seahawks right now has to be adding some wide receiver depth.

At the moment there are only five wide receivers on the roster after Dareke Young was placed on injured reserve yesterday. While having a healthy DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett at the top of the depth chart goes a long way, remember that Cody Thompson is one of the five, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is dealing with a wrist injury and preseason superstars like Jake Bobo tend to drop off quite a bit when the real games begin.

One short-term solution might be signing Dan Chisena (6-foot-3, 202 pounds), who worked out for the team Monday. After going undrafted, he was picked up by the Vikings. Over the last three seasons Chisena appeared in 27 games for Minnesota. It was mostly a special teams role, though as he put in 496 snaps there compared to just 11 on offense.

Seattle may also choose to elevate one of the practice squad wide receivers to the active roster (expect that on Saturday). Right now, they are carrying three on the practice squad: Easop Winston Jr., Matt Landers and Cade Johnson.

Former Bills S JaQuan Johnson

With Joey Blount and Jonathan Sutherland going down and reaching injury settlements with the team, Seattle could also use another body at safety. Another free agent they worked out yesterday could help there – JaQuan Johnson. He played at Miami (FL) in college and was picked in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft by Buffalo. Since then, Johnson (5-foot-10, 191 pounds) has appeared in 60 regular season games for the Bills. He has totaled 58 tackles and two interceptions.

As for game-day elevation options, at the moment the Seahawks have two safeties on their practice squad: Ty Okada and Brady Breeze, who signed yesterday.

What Penn State players are on the rosters for teams in this season’s NFL playoffs?

The NFL’s regular season is now officially in the books and the field for this year’s playoff is set. And once again, this NFL postseason will be seeing Penn State well represented throughout the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the most former Nittany Lions on their roster as the battle for the Super Bowl is about to get underway. In all, there are 18 players from Penn State in this year’s NFL playoffs.

The only teams in the NFL playoffs with no Penn State ties are the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks.

Vikings elevate two, Jalen Nailor out vs Commanders

Nailor has been downgraded to out after practicing in full on Friday

The Minnesota Vikings already had one player declared out in defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson who sustained a calf injury last week against the Arizona Cardinals. He had one more join him, as wide receiver Jalen Nailor was declared out with an illness despite practicing in full on Friday afternoon.

The Vikings also elevated two players from the practice squad in wide receiver Dan Chisena and tight end Nick Muse. Both players have been activated for one game each on the season with both players getting their only action against the Chicago Bears in week five.

Chisena’s activation is strictly to be a punt gunner and special teams ace, as that is the role that Nailor is currently playing.

Muse was activated for the second time this season and becomes the fourth tight end in the last four weeks to be activated for gameday due to Ben Ellefson being on injured reserve.

The game kicks off at noon on Sunday.

Every Penn State player on an NFL opening day roster in 2022

Here is every former Penn State plater on an NFL roster to start the new NFL season in 2022.

The start of a new season in the National Football League is here and there will be a good amount of Penn State flavor throughout the league this season. Penn State will have the eighth most players on an NFL opening day roster this season with 34 players appearing on an NFL team’s 53-man roster to start the season (plus two additional players on injured reserve and another on the physically unable to perform list). In all, Penn State claims 44 players are on NFL rosters to start the year with the inclusion of practice squad players.

That includes nine players who were on the Penn State roster in 2021, including wide receiver [autotag]Jahan Dotson[/autotag], defensive end [autotag]Arnold Ebiketie[/autotag], and safety [autotag]Jaquan Brisker[/autotag]. Dotson is one of four Penn State players on the Washington Commanders, the most of any NFL franchise to start the season.

Former kicker [autotag]Robbie Gould[/autotag] continues to be the elder statesman of the Nittany Lions football family in the NFL. Gould, of the San Francisco 49ers, is entering his 19th season in the NFL.

Here is a look at every Penn State player on either an NFL team’s 53-man roster or practice squad at the start of the 2022 season.

Vikings 2022 offseason preview: Where does Minnesota stand at WR?

The firepower at receiver is unreal

For the Minnesota Vikings, the 2021 season was a teaser to what should be one of the best receiving units in 2022 and beyond. It doesn’t matter who starts under center—Kirk Cousins, Kellen Mond, a rookie or some veteran free agent the Vikings decide to bring into the fold.

Some quarterback will be playing with the Infinity Gauntlet of offensive firepower.

The opportunity will clearly be there for the Vikings to morph into one of the most explosive teams on the field with an offensive-minded head coach like Kevin O’Connell leading the charge.

They aren’t going to be a team afraid to take risks, and they’re going to consistently push the ball downfield. You can also expect plenty of pre-snap movement in order to bait and confuse opposing defenses.

Grab a cold beverage, a bowl of popcorn and pull up a chair. Things are about to reach new levels of excitement in Minnesota.

Here’s where the Vikings stand at wide receiver.

Vikings sign WR Dan Chisena

The Vikings have signed Dan Chisena to a two-year deal, according to his representation, JL Sports.

Minnesota waived Dan Chisena on Saturday, but the speedy wide receiver wasn’t gone for long.

JL Sports, Chisena’s representation, announced that the Vikings and the wideout have agreed to a two-year deal.

The Vikings have primarily used Chisena as a gunner in the NFL. Minnesota has made the interesting choice of signing him to the 53-man roster, so it clearly values that position more than a lot of other teams around the league.

Chisena had six tackles in 2020, but has none so far in 2021. It’s hard to make a huge impact when your reps are so limited, but maybe Chisena getting signed will lead to less yardage on punt returns in upcoming games.

Chisena originally signed with the Vikings in the offseason of 2020, doing so as an undrafted free agent. He not only played football for Penn State, but he was also a member of the Nittany Lions’ track and field team. Now, the Vikings will likely give him another shot at special teams reps at the NFL level.

Vikings WR Dan Chisena, RB Kene Nwangwu designated to return to practice

The Vikings get two players back at practice this week.

Minnesota is set to get two special teams players back from practice this week.

Vikings WR Dan Chisena and RB Kene Nwangwu are both expected to be back, the team announced on Wednesday.

Nwangwu was tabbed as a promising prospect, and that was on full display amid training camp when he showcased his speed. Chisena, also very speedy, has been a gunner on the Vikings’ punt unit.

Minnesota could use both of these players when it takes on Seattle. Nwangwu’s role won’t be as important now that running back Ameer Abdullah is signed to the active roster. Abdullah and Nwangwu offer something similar stylistically, with them both being running backs who can make an impact as receiving options.

Nwangwu’s role remains to be seen, but WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette has been good as a kick returner, so he has ample competition.

Minnesota moved to 1-2 with the victory over the Seahawks. Minnesota has a tough matchup with Cleveland in Week 4 this week. It might help to have these players back, though it remains to be seen whether they will actually be ready by Sunday.
