Darrisaw joins the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Lions
The Minnesota Vikings added one player to the injury report for week 18 against the Detroit Lions. That player is left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who didn’t practice due to illness.
CB Byron Murphy Jr. (knee): Did not practice
WR Jalen Nailor (concussion): Did not practice
RT Brian O’Neill (ankle): Did not practice
DE Jaquelin Roy (ankle): Did not practice
LT Christian Darrisaw (illness): Did not practice
CB Mekhi Blackmon (shoulder): Limited
RG Ed Ingram (shoulder): Limited
S Theo Jackson (toe): Limited
TE Nick Muse (knee): Limited
S Harrison Smith (shoulder): Limited
The illness distinction is a difficult one as it can mean a lot of different things. Oftentimes, players with illness designations end up missing the game.
Another element at play is both Murphy and Nailor continuing to not practice. Don’t be surprised if the Vikings place Nailor on injured reserve on Friday and sign someone like Trishton Jackson or Lucky Jackson to the active roster to preserve them for the offseason program.
Friday’s injury report will tell us much more about who will and won’t play on Sunday afternoon.
The Minnesota Vikings released their first injury report on Wednesday afternoon and it has nine players on it.

Once again, both Murphy and Nailor didn’t practice. They have missed the last two and three games, respectively, due to injury. O’Neill being on the report is likey due to wanting to rest his injured ankle, as he already played last week against the Green Bay Packers.
Muse, Smith and Ingram are all new additions to the report. Ingram left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. The progress throughout the week will determine whether or not they play on Sunday.
Danielle Hunter and Harrison Phillips highlight the initial injury report
The Minnesota Vikings have a lengthy injury report heading into their week 16 winter whiteout game against the Detroit Lions. Their practice was a walkthrough so the report is an estimation.
OLB Danielle Hunter (illness): Did not practice

CB Byron Murphy Jr. (knee): Did not practice

RT Brian O’Neill (ankle): Did not practice

The holdovers from last week are Nailor, O’Neill and Mattison. All three of them not practicing is important in their attempt to come back.
Hunter is the one to keep an eye on, as an illness is something that is difficult to measure and predict.
Murphy and Phillips are both new and didn’t appear to be injured against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hicks returned to practice after having his practice window open up this past Monday. There is real optimism he can play on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions have eight players listed on their initial injury report.

Multiple starters highlight the Vikings inactive list against the Bengals
The Minnesota Vikings have announced their inactives for Saturday afternoon’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
RB Alexander Mattison
RT Brian O’Neill
WR Jalen Nailor
S Lewis Cine
TE Nick Muse
G Chris Reed
QB Josh Dobbs (emergency QB)
Mattison, O’Neill and Nailor were all ruled out earlier this week due to their injuries suffered against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Muse has yet to be active for a game this season. The reason for having Muse on the roster and not the practice squad seems to be tied to not wanting to lose him to another team.
Reed was a late add to the injury report due to an illness. With the return of both Ed Ingram and Dalton Risner, the Vikings should be okay without him. Hakeem Adeniji will dress in his place.
Dobbs was demoted to third-string quarterback earlier this week and will only be called upon in an emergency situation.
Cine continues to be inactive which is very frustrating to many. Time will tell if Cine will develop into a contributing player.
The Vikings will be without two starters on offense with at least one returning starter
The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in a Saturday afternoon clash on December 16th at noon CST.
Heading into the game, there were many injuries that the Vikings were concerned about, including ones to multiple offensive starters. The final injury report for the week 15 matchup has been released and it reflects better than expected.

The Minnesota Vikings held their first practice of the week, as they did a walkthrough on Tuesday. The injury report did add one name to it with one other player seeing improvement.
RG Ed Ingram (hip): Full
WR Justin Jefferson (chest): Limited
LG Dalton Risner (ankle): Limited
RT Brian O’Neill (ankle): Did not practice
WR Jalen Nailor (concussion): Did not practice
RB Alexander Mattison (ankle): Did not practice
G Chris Reed (illness): Did not practice
Reed was the addition to the report with an illness. That could mead a lot of things but also will be worth monitoring moving forward.
Ingram taking a step forward is a really important distinction to his status on Sunday. With O’Neill still nursing his ankle injury, if Ingram returns, could Blake Brandel start at tackle or will it be Quessenberry?
Thursday afternoon will see the final injury report released and that will tell us who will and won’t play on Saturday.
Ingram missed Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a hip injury. He was a late addition to the injury report last Thursday.
Jefferson is day-to-day with his chest injury. Early indications are that he will play but anything can happen.
Risner did return to the game with his ankle injury on Sunday. His being limited in practice is likely just out of precaution than anything.
Nailor having a concussion or being in the protocol wasn’t something known before today’s injury report. If trends continue, Nailor is likely to miss Saturday’s game. He was the fourth wide receiver after Jefferson left the game.
Mattison also did not practice with his ankle injury. He left the game and did not return. If he was unable to go, Ty Chandler would be the likely starter with DeWayne McBride likely making his NFL debut off of the practice squad.
Like Mattison, O’Neill left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. The last time that happened, he had partially torn his Achilles tendon.
The injury report updates from the next two days will tell us a lot about where things stand.
