LSU logs another prediction for 4-star DL Zion Williams on the eve of his commitment

The Tigers picked up another prediction to land four-star Texas defensive lineman Zion Williams, who commits on Thursday.

Two of LSU’s top defensive line targets are set to make commitment decisions over the next 48 hours, and the Tigers seem to be in good shape for both of them.

First up is four-star Lufkin, Texas, defensive lineman [autotag]Zion Williams[/autotag], who is set to announce his commitment on July 4. The Tigers have been the favorite here for a while, holding three crystal ball predictions from 247Sports and several predictions from On3’s recruiting staff, as well.

Now, LSU Country’s Zack Nagy is also projecting that Williams, the No. 298 player nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings, will commit to the Tigers on Thursday.

TCU is also in the mix for Williams, and he recently officially visited the Horned Frogs as well as Arkansas and Texas A&M.

LSU seems to be in a position of strength for Williams, and if it can land him as well as top-100 EDGE [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag], who commits Friday, it would be a massive addition to a 2025 recruiting class that is already verging on elite.

Pair of blue-chip LSU recruiting targets to announce commitments this week

LSU could add to its already strong 2025 class with a pair of four-star prospects this week.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is already one of the best in the nation, and it could be set to get even better this week.

A pair of LSU targets are scheduled to make their decisions in four-star Indianapolis EDGE [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag] and four-star Lufkin, Texas, defensive lineman [autotag]Zion Williams[/autotag]. The latter will commit on July 4 this Thursday, while the former, who ranks inside the top 100 nationally, will make his decision the following day.

LSU has received multiple predictions to land both players and currently seems to have a significant lead in their recruitment.

Shanklin and Williams aren’t the only Tigers targets deciding in the near future. Four-star receiver [autotag]Cortez Mills[/autotag], considered an Oklahoma lean, is committing on Monday, while in-state safety [autotag]Jhase Thomas[/autotag] will announce a decision on July 13.

It seems like a two-team race for Thomas between LSU and Ole Miss, though the Tigers look like the clear favorite.

Ohio State target sets commitment date for Fourth of July

Could there be fireworks on the Fourth of July for Ohio State football recruiting? #GoBucks

Ohio State football is in the running to earn a commitment from a four-star edge rusher in the class of 2025, but we won’t find out where he will be playing until Independence Day. The timeline of the Damien Shanklin decision is interesting, considering he originally moved his commitment date from September to August, then July 5, and finally on a national holiday.

The Indiana native has narrowed his decision down to three powerhouse programs in Alabama, LSU, and of course, Ohio State. At first glance, one would consider the Buckeyes to be the favorite considering Shanklin is from a northern location, but we know that’s not always true.

Shanklin is a consensus top 50 player in the country and someone who many believe can be an impact player at the next level. It will be a commitment to monitor.

LSU reportedly picking up steam for pair of blue-chip defensive lineman committing next week

Both Zion Williams and Damien Shanklin are set to make decisions during the first week of July.

LSU is off to a strong start in the 2025 recruiting cycle, but it’s looking to add to its defensive line haul. After next week, it could be a lot happier with that group.

Two players the Tigers are in the mix for are set to make their decisions: four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Zion Williams[/autotag] and four-star EDGE [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag]. Williams, who comes from Lufkin, Texas, commits on Thursday, while Shanklin, an Indianapolis prospect, commits the following day after originally planning to commit in late August.

LSU has recently found itself trending for both. It picked up two crystal ball projections for Williams, the No. 284 player in the cycle, in the last week. Shanklin, who On3 ranks inside the top 100, also holds a crystal ball prediction for the Tigers.

On3’s recruiting prediction machine also gives LSU a sizable lead for both.

The Tigers had both on campus for official visits in the last month, and it seems defensive line coach [autotag]Bo Davis[/autotag] used that time with the prospects productively.

Top 100 LSU EDGE target Damien Shanklin moves commitment date up to next week

The Tigers are favored to land Damien Shanklin, who will announce his choice on July 5.

LSU is looking to add more pieces to its already promising 2025 recruiting class, and as the June official visit rush comes to a close, some to prospects in the cycle are ready to make their decisions.

One of those is four-star, top 100 EDGE [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag]. He moved his commitment date up to July 5 and is now set to decide between a top three of LSU, Alabama and Ohio State next week.

The Warren Central (Indianapolis) prospect ranks as the No. 86 overall player in the class and the No. 12 EDGE according to the On3 industry rankings. LSU received a crystal ball projection to land him from 247Sports’ Tom Loy earlier this month, and the Tigers have a comfortable lead according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine.

LSU seems to be in the driver’s seat here, and after getting the first of his four official visits, it doesn’t look like much has changed in recent weeks despite trips to Ohio State, Tennessee and Alabama.

Premier 2025 EDGE, LSU target sets commitment date

After LSU received multiple projections for Damien Shanklin, he moved up his commitment date.

In recent days, LSU seems to be trending to land four-star edge rusher [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag], and on Thursday, the Indianapolis prospect set his commitment date.

He was originally scheduled to make his decision on Sept. 21, but he has now moved that date up by nearly a month and will now decide on Aug. 29. While Notre Dame is currently the favorite per the On3 recruiting prediction machine, LSU received an expert prediction from Steve Wiltfong to land him.

It also received a crystal ball projection this week for Shanklin from 247Sports.

Still, the Tigers are not without competition for the Warren Central prospect. Shanklin will officially visit Ohio State this weekend, which has previously called his “dream school.”

Shanklin ranks as the No. 85 overall player in the On3 industry rankings, and he is the top-rated player in the state of Indiana.

LSU picking up steam with 4-star defensive end

LSU is well positioned to land a four-star recruit from Indiana.

According to On3, the LSU staff made significant progress with a blue-chip defensive end over the weekend.

The Tigers hosted four-star [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag] for an official visit over the weekend. Following the visit, LSU looks to be in a good spot.

“Everything was great about the visit. Nothing but positive energy,” Shanklin told On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Wiltfong, along with On3’s Billy Embody, are now both predicting Shanklin to be a part of LSU’s 2025 class. According to the On3 Prediction Machine, LSU sits in second place at 43.1%, with Notre Dame in the lead at 49.2%.

LSU will have to fend off Tennessee and Ohio State too, but this looks like one Tiger fans should feel good about.

Shanklin is close to 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 215. All four major recruiting services have him as a four-star with 247Sports ranking Shanklin as the fifth-best edge rusher in the class and the best recruit in the state of Indiana.

We haven’t seen LSU dip into Indiana a ton over the years, but Brian Kelly’s old ties to the state could be paying off with this one.

Notre Dame makes top list for in-state 2025 pass rusher

The Irish could land the states best 2025 prospect

It should come as no surprise that Notre Dame football is among the top schools for in-state 2025 defensive end [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 4-inch and 230-pound edge trimmed his list to twelve schools, with the Irish obviously making the cut. Many believe that Notre Dame is the front-runner as they have received multiple 247Sports Crystal Ball picks.

Shanklin is the top player in the state for his class and the No. 10 edge rusher and 107th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Irish currently have Christopher Burgess Jr., Dominik Hulak and Joseph Reiff committed at the position, but Shanklin would be the top rated prospect of the lot.
