Steph Curry reacts to Andre Iguodala’s putback dunk in Orlando Bubble on Instagram

After Andre Iguodala threw down a fierce putback dunk for the Miami Heat in the Orlando Bubble, Stephen Curry chimed in on Instagram.

While he may not be suiting up in the Orlando Bubble, Steph Curry is tuning in to watch his former teammates.

After ex-Golden State Warrior Andre Iguodala threw down a highlight-worthy dunk in the Miami Heat’s tilt against the Boston Celtics, the two-time MVP chimed in on Instagram.

When no Celtics boxed him out, Iguodala flew into the lane to slam down a two-handed putback dunk with 5:50 left in the fourth quarter. Running back down the court, the 2015 Finals MVP was hyped.

Curry shared a highlight of Iguodala’s dunk on his Instagram story with a message about golf.

If Iguodala did hit the golf course before his game on Tuesday, it worked. Against Boston, the forward recorded his top totals in scoring, rebounds and blocks since entering the Orlando Bubble.

The veteran finished the contest with six points, eight boards, four assists and a steal in 31 minutes as the Heat cruised to victory over the Celtics. In the second quarter, Iguodala knocked down a shot from long distance to push him to 1,000 made 3-pointers in his career.

With the PGA Championship set to begin on Thursday, Curry and Iguodala will have the chance to tune in for the first major golf tournament of 2020. The PGA Championship will tee off on Thursday morning in the Bay Area at San Francisco’s TPC Harding Park.

Steph Curry reacts to Bomani Jones’ comments with shoutout to ‘system players’

After Bomani Jones referred to Steph Curry as the “greatest system player of all-time,” the MVP reacted in a shoutout to the WNBA’s return.

Through 10 seasons in the NBA, Steph Curry’s trophy case is packed with hoops hardware. Three championship rings, two Most Valuable Player awards, six All-Star appearances, a membership to the 50-40-90 club and more. Despite his decorated resume, ESPN’s Bomani Jones believes an NBA club may need a little more than just Curry to win a championship.

On his podcast “The Right Time,” Vince Goodwell of Yahoo Sports and Jones discussed what NBA superstars give teams a chance at winning a championship. When it came to Curry, Jones wasn’t convinced. Jones referred to the Golden State Warriors point guard as “the greatest system player of all time.”

Via ESPN’s The Right Time with Bomani Jones:

I feel like if you tell me that you have Kevin Durant, you have a chance to win the championship. If you tell me you have Kawhi Leonard, my immediate response is, ‘You have a chance to win a championship.’ And the same with LeBron. You tell me you got Steph โ€” I want you to tell me a little bit more.

My only problem with Steph though โ€” you know me and what I care about โ€” this is a big problem โ€” getting his own shot. He can get his own shot if he shoots it from 40 coming across the line. He’s got a sick handle and all that stuff. There’s something different. It’s hard to explain what it is with Steph, but Steph is somehow like the greatest system player of all time. And I’m not saying that to shade him. But you are not going 1-4 flat and being like โ€” ‘get us a bucket.’

On Saturday, Curry had a subtle response to Jones’ “system player” comment. In a Twitter shoutout for the opening of the WNBA season, Curry saluted the league’s system players. The Davidson product wrote, “we get it done” with a pair of emojis.

Klay Thompson’s injury absence paired with Curry missing a majority of the 2019-20 season has brought a storm of questions regarding the Warriors’ ability to return to the Western Conference Postseason. Add Jones’ remarks to a long list of bulletin board material for Curry and the Warriors next season.

Steph Curry thanks Vince Carter for ‘changing the game’ in tribute message

After 22-years in the NBA, Vince Carter is officially retiring. In a tribute message, Steph Curry thanked Carter for “changing the game.”

After 22 years in the association, Vince Carter is hanging up his uniform for the last time โ€” the 43-year-old has officially retired. Before the Orlando Bubble opens up for the NBA’s restart next week, former players, teammates and current stars shared messages for Carter in a special tribute video.

Tracy McGrady, Mike Conley Jr., Jayson Tatum, Jason Kidd, Trae Young and others joined the video to congratulate Carter on his retirement. Following the emotional goodbye, Carter reflected on the tribute and his career on TNT’s “The Arena.”

Via The Arena:

To learn that you’ve impacted so many players in the league is wowing to me, to see all those guys, J-Kidd and T-Mac and all these guys who were teammates of mineโ€” to hear their testimonies and share their kind words is โ€” Can’t beat it, man.

My love for the game โ€” I want to believe it speaks for itself and that’s the legacy I want. Some people tout me as the greatest dunker, and I’m very appreciative of that. But with that โ€” I want them to say ‘man, he played in his 40s and he must love the game.’

Another player Carter left a mark on is Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors point guard went to Twitter to pay tribute to the eight-time All-Star. Curry thanked Carter for “changing the game.”

Although they were never teammates, the pairing of Curry and Carter share a storied history. As a young player with the Toronto Raptors, Carter played alongside Dell Curry with the future two-time MVP watching from the sidelines.

“Vinsanity’s” final contest took place on March 11 against the New York Knicks. In 12 minutes, Carter tallied five points and a rebound. Putting a bow on his career, the North Carolina Tarheel product drilled a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the game.

Klay Thompson reacts on Instagram to recent praise from Jerry West

After Jerry West called Klay Thompson “the perfect player” for Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors shooter paid tribute on Instagram.

After earning a trio of championships and a bevy of All-Star appearances, praise is common for a player like Klay Thompson. Yet, when it comes from a legendary hooper simply known as “The Logo,” words hold a bit more weight.

In a recent interview on 95.7 The Game with Damon Bruce, Matt Kolsky and Ray Ratto, Jerry West shared his appreciation for the Golden State Warriors’ backcourt. When discussing the rumored Kevin Love for Thompson trade from his days in Golden State’s front office, West called the Washington State product “one of the most underrated players in the league.”

Via 95.7 The Game:

But to me, the perfect player โ€” and he wasn’t as far along in his career when this trade had been talked about โ€”the perfect player for Steph [Currry] was Klay [Thompson]. He never seeks the spotlight. He just plays the game. And he has gotten better and better, and frankly, he’s one of the most underrated players in the league who gets not as much love as he should get.

After seeing West’s comments, the sharpshooting wing weighed in on Instagram. Thompson posted a message saying West knows he’s “about that life.”

Via @KlayThompson on Instagram:

I’ll never forget working out in front of Jerry [West] back in 2011. And ever since he knows I’m about that life. #realGsmoveinsilence #webeenworkin

With West currently serving as an executive board member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Thompson will have to wait to connect with the NBA Hall of Famer. After a 15-50 season, the Golden State Warriors are one of eight teams to be on the outside of the NBA’s Orlando Bubble restart.

As their season is officially over, Thompson will have an extended offseason to work his way back to the court. The three-time champion hasn’t played since injuring his knee against the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 NBA Finals. Luckily for the Warriors, most of the news surrounding Thompson’s injury has been positive.

After watching him work out in Southern California, Steve Kerr said Thompson was “draining shots everywhere.” With Thompson’s anticipated return to action on delay, the Splash Brother will have more time to continue “workin.”

Report: Steph Curry could host San Francisco PGA Tour event in 2021

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Stephen Curry could be in line to host a PGA Tour event at San Francisco’s Harding Park in 2021.

After much anticipation, Stephen Curry could finally have the chance to host a PGA Tour event in the Bay Area. The Golden State Warriors point guard has been in talks with the Tour for nearly two years.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Parks and Recreations Commission unanimously approved an amendment in their contract with the PGA Tour that will likely lead to Curry hosting an event in San Francisco.

His initial talks were aimed at hosting the event at Daly City’s Lake Merced Golf Club. However, the new Curry hosted event is slated to take place in the 2021 Fall edition of the Tour’s schedule at San Francisco’s public course, TPC Harding Park. In August, Harding Park will be the site of the 2020 PGA Championship.

According to Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry’s family foundation Eat. Learn. Play. will be involved with the tournament. Workday, the software finance company based in the Bay Area, is expected to serve as the title sponsor for the Bay Area golf event.

The two-time Most Valuable Player is coming off a fourth-place finish in his eighth appearance at Lake Tahoe’s celebrity golf tournament, the American Century Championship at Edgewood Golf Resort.

Curry has been a longtime advocate of the game, serving as an ambassador for the PGA Junior League. In 2019, the six-time All-Star pledged a significant donation to Howard University for the creation of a men’s and women’s golf program.

With the Golden State Warriors extended offseason on deck, Curry will have plenty of time to hit the golf course before he hosts his first PGA Tour event.

Watch: Steph Curry takes dive into Lake Tahoe after final round of American Century Championship golf tournament

After the final of the American Century Championship, Steph Curry dove into the water of Lake Tahoe with Canelo Alvarez and Mardy Fish.

In a sport that’s riddled with history, a new golf tradition is building in Lake Tahoe.

For the eighth consecutive season, Stephen Curry joined the star-studded field at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.

Curry’s father Dell joined his son in the tournament field. With each tournament, the father-son duo competes against each other in a friendly bet. At the end of the match, the golfer with the lower score has to dive into Lake Tahoe’s water.

Dell began the tournament outplaying his son in the first round. However, strong performances from the two-time Most Valuable Player in rounds two and three helped propel him near the top of the leaderboard.

With the Stableford scoring system in place, Curry’s 26 in round three was the top score on the tournament’s final day. The Golden State point guard finished fourth in the competition, three spots ahead of his father. Although it was Dell’s turn to take a leap into the lake, a group of other golfers decided to make the dive.

After finishing with a 76, tournament champ Mardy Fish hopped in the lake with both of the Currys and boxer Canelo Alvarez.

Former Buffalo Bills defensive linemen Kyle Williams placed second at 67, with MLB Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz rounding out the top three with a score of 58.

Steph Curry on Warriors’ down season: ‘This could be a blessing in disguise’

Although the Warriors won’t be joining the NBA’s Orlando restart, Steph Curry thinks their down season could be a blessing in disguise.

The Golden State Warriors’ dynasty run has officially been disrupted. After five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals, the Warriors will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2013.

Notable injuries to both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson played a critical role in Golden State’s underwhelming season. Along with injuries to the Splash Brothers, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and several other members of the Warriors missed time.

Both Green and Looney missed 20 or more games for Golden State’s frontcourt. Swingman Damion Lee was also sidelined for 10 contests.ย

As injuries ran rampant in their lineup, the Warriors recorded a league-worst 15-50 record. Golden State will be one of eight teams to not participate in the NBA’s restart in Orlando.ย

Despite Golden State’s struggles, Curry believes their down season could be “a blessing in disguise.” After finishing round one at the American Century Championship golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, Curry had a positive outlook on Golden State’s 2019-20 season.ย

Viaย @anthonyVslaterย on Twitter:ย

We still have a great core. We have an understanding of who we are. Like you said, it was a crazy year โ€” my hand injury, Klay being out all year, Draymond in and out of the lineup with injuries all year, a lot of new young guys. It’s definitely different, but this could be a blessing in disguise in terms of this next three four year run that we want to have โ€” get rested get healthy. We’ll obviously be watching Orlando and in taking all that in. But come next season wherever that starts, we’ll be ready. We’ve had a long seven years, so it’s nice to get a little refresh.ย

In addition to their extended layoff, the Golden State Warriors are in line for a top-five pick in the NBA draft for the first time since 2002. Along with their prized pick, new members of the Warriors like Marquese Chriss, Eric Paschall and Andrew Wiggins will join Golden State’s refreshed championship core in 2020-21.ย

Reigning Super Bowl champion and 2019 NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes will make his ACC tournament in a grouping with Charles Barkley and Travis Kelce.
