Watch: Steph Curry knocks down pregame shots from Golden State logo

Before the Warriors tipped off against the Sacramento Kings, Stephen Curry knocked down some long-distance jumpers from the Golden State logo at Chase Center.

Stephen Curry has yet to return to Golden State Warriors game action, but he’s close. Curry is still dealing with the broken left-hand injury he suffered in late October. However, the Warriors point guard could return as soon as this weekend.

Leading up to Curry’s return to the court, the six-time NBA All-Star has climbed up several vital steps in his rehab. Curry has traveled with the Warriors on the road, participated in shooting workouts with the coaching staff, and most recently, he’s joined full-contact scrimmages at practice.

As Curry’s ramped up his rehab, the Golden State guard displayed one of his signature pregame shooting routines before the Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings.

Curry knocked down a couple of long-distance shots from just inside the Chase Center midcourt logo. The Davidson product finished his pregame shooting workout with twirling corner 3-pointer from the baseline that was nothing but net.

Before bringing his electric shooting back to the court, Curry and his injured left-hand are scheduled to go through a re-evaluation.

If his evaluation goes smooth, Curry could return to the Golden State lineup on Sunday, March 1, against the Washington Wizards.

Report: Steph Curry to return to Warriors lineup on March 1 vs. Wizards

Stephen Curry will make his return to the Golden State Warriors’ starting lineup on March 1 against the Washington Wizards, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

From the minute Stephen Curry was injured in late October against the Phoenix Suns, his looming return became one of the most anticipated dates on Golden State’s schedule.

Late in the stretch run of the regular season, the answer to his return date might be finally revealed.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Curry is slated to return to the Warriors lineup on Sunday, March 1, against the Washington Wizards.

As Curry’s made progress through his rehab, March 1 has turned into the long-time target date for his return. March 1 will serve as the final box on Curry’s checklist in returning to the floor.

In one of the final steps in getting back to the court for game action, Curry was cleared for full contact scrimmages at Golden State’s practice. The six-time All-Star has been going through shooting workouts with the Golden State coaching staff before games.

Steve Kerr spoke to reporters before the Warriors tipped off against the Sacramento Kings and spoke about Curry’s potential return. Kerr said Curry and his broken left hand will be re-evaluated on Saturday.

If Curry can return against Washington, he will have 22 games with the Warriors to end the 2019-20 season.

Report: Steph Curry scheduled to be re-evaluated Friday before return

Before Stephen Curry makes his long-awaited return to the starting lineup, his broken hand will be re-evaluated on February 28, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Stephen Curry has checked off many boxes when it comes to his broken left-hand rehab. The former Most Valuable Player has only played in four games all season. Yet as his rehab progresses to the final stages, his return is near.

Curry’s been traveling with his teammates on the road and participating in pregame warmups with the Warriors coaching staff. At practice, Curry has been shooting without any type of brace and has been taking part in full-contact scrimmages.

Sunday, March 1 has been the long-discussed target date for Curry’s return, but before he is officially cleared, the six-time All-Star will have one final test.

According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry will be re-evaluated by Golden State on Friday.

How Curry’s hand responds to Friday’s evaluation could be the key to his return. After his assessment, Golden State will play a weekend back-to-back at Chase Center in San Francisco against the Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.

If Curry can return by the targeted March 1 game against the Wizards, the Golden State point guard will have 22 games remaining on the 2019-20 schedule.

Members of the Warriors will attend Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s memorial service in Los Angeles

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Bob Myers will represent the Golden State Warriors at Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s memorial service.

The impact of Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing is still making waves through the NBA. Players from across the league have poured emotional tributes on the court and through social media in Bryant’s honor.

Members of the Golden State Warriors, including Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, have used social media to share their feelings on Bryant’s loss.

In their first home game since his passing, the Warriors paid respect to the fallen Lakers legend. During the game, Curry wore a Bryant jersey on the sideline.

The Staples Center will host a memorial service for Bryant and his daughter Gianna on Monday in Los Angeles.

After Golden State’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night, Steve Kerr spoke to reporters about Bryant’s upcoming memorial.

Via Lets Go Warriors:

Steph and Draymond will go down to LA for the service with Bob. And the rest of the staff and team will stay here and practice tomorrow. It’ll be a tough day for the NBA, and it’s been a tough few weeks for everybody, and it doesn’t seem real; it really doesn’t. It’s just a constant reminder when you hear his name, when you see him on TV — see images. It’s just a constant reminder of what happened and how tragic it was and how tragic it is for his family. We will all be thinking of Vanessa [Bryant] and the family, and the Lakers. And then the service tomorrow, like I said; Draymond, Steph and Bob will represent us there.

Along with Curry, Thompson and Bob Myers, Klay Thompson is expected to attend the service, according to Conor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Warriors will travel to Bryant’s home arena as a full team on April 7 in their final game against the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2019-20 season.

Steph Curry is still getting over nerve damage in his injured left hand

Stephen Curry told reporters at Warriors practice that he’s still getting over the nerve damage in his injured left hand.

As the Golden State Warriors enter the stretch run of the 2019-20 NBA season, the news around Stephen Curry’s broken hand becomes the top priority. Each report that circulates regarding the six-time All-Stars injured hand has been positive.

Curry’s been traveling with his teammates, working out at practice, taking part in pregame shooting routines, and he’s now been cleared to participate in full-contact scrimmages. After missing all but four games in the entire season, Curry could make his long-awaited return to the Warriors when the calendar flips to March.

However, as exciting as it is that Curry’s return is nearing, there will still be an adjustment period once he is back on the floor. As the two-time Most Valuable Player progresses through his rehab, Curry will have to adapt to his healed hand.

Curry spoke to reporters at Golden State’s Saturday practice about dealing with nerve damage from the injury in his left hand.

Via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

This one was a serious one that had a lot of nuances to it with the two surgeries and the nerve damage that I’m still dealing with.  Again, everything is new. If it was an ankle thing, I would tell you exactly what was happening every step of the way.

The Warriors’ point guard was asked if he’s feeling any sensation or tingling in his hand due to the nerve damage.

All that type of stuff. When you have 280 lbs laying on your hand, it’s bound for something like that to happen. Thankfully it’s responding, it’s just a slow process.

Curry broke his hand against the Phoenix Suns in late October on an awkward collision with Aaron Baynes. The Suns’ center fell on Curry leading to his injury.

The Davidson product told reporters his hand would feel different once he returns, but his goal is to get to a place where he’s playing without thinking about it.

I’m getting used to what the new normal is. It definitely feels different than the right (hand), but you can try to get to a point where when you’re actually playing basketball, you don’t think about it — whether it feels all the way the same or not, that doesn’t really matter, as long as I’m not worried about the things that I’m trying to do, the strength part of it and how it bounces back the next day after pushing it. Whether it’s contact type stuff and all that. You have to pay attention to all that type of stuff. To answer your question, It is going to feel different. Anybody that’s been through surgeries knows it takes a long time for it to get back to true normal. Functionally speaking, where I’m out there on the court where I’m not thinking about it, that’s where I’m trying to get to.

If Curry is cleared to play on March 1 against when the Washington Wizards come to San Francisco, he will have 22 games left in the season to see how his hand responds from injury.

Kevon Looney thinks Steph Curry can elevate Andrew Wiggins’ game to ‘another level’

Kevon Looney thinks Stephen Curry has the ability to raise Andrew Wiggins’ game with the Warriors to ‘another level.’

Andrew Wiggins passed his first impression with the Golden State Warriors with flying colors. The newest member of the Warriors has impressed on both ends of the floor in an almost seamless fit.

Wiggins’ led the Warriors in scoring in two of the first four games in San Francisco, averaging 22.7 points per game. The former Rookie of the Year has been efficient in Golden State, shooting 57.9 % from the field while knocking down 10-of-19 shots from beyond the arc.

The 2014 first overall draft pick has especially shown up on the defensive end of the court. He’s been challenged with guarding All-Star caliber players like James Harden, LeBron James and Devin Booker. As a member of the Warriors, Wiggins has already registered career highs in blocks (4) and steals (5).

After the Warriors loss to the Houston Rockets, Kevon Looney had high praise for Wiggins. However, the UCLA product thinks his new teammate’s game could improve once Stephen Curry returns from injury.

Via Eran Soroka:

I think that’s going to be great for him — playing with Steph [Curry] is great for everybody. He makes everybody look great, he makes everybody feel comfortable and it’s a lot of fun when he’s out on the court. I think playing with Steph is going to take his game to another level, just because Steph is that type of player — he took my game to another level, took everybody on this team to another level, you probably didn’t know you could go to. It’s going to be exciting when Steph gets back and I think Wiggins is going to have a lot of fun.

Curry’s return from his broken hand injury is scheduled to take place in March, according to reports, giving him and Wiggins around 20 games together. How Wiggins and Curry play off of each other throughout the remainder of the season will give Golden State a small glimpse of what their core could look like next season.

Watch: Steph Curry puts on a shooting show at Warriors practice

While rehabbing his broken hand injury, Stephen Curry put on a show in the latest Golden State Warriors practice.

As the post-All-Star break portion of the Golden State Warriors season begins, all eyes will be on Stephen Curry. The two-time Most Valuable Player has only played four games all season due to a broken hand, but his long-awaited return could be nearing.

Over the past couple of months, Curry has jumped several hurdles in his road back to the court. Recently, the injured guard has been working out and traveling on the road with his teammates.

Curry has participated in portions of practice, but he’s yet to take part in contact drills. In a down season, the Warriors are using caution with their franchise player’s return.

The six-time All-Star may be dealing with an injury, but it hasn’t slowed down his picturesque jump shot. During Golden State’s practice at the end of the All-Star break, Curry put on a show when it came to shooting.

Via NBC Bay Area’s Anthony Flores:

Curry’s practice didn’t end with just shooting; the Davidson product was put through different drills with the Warriors coaching staff.

Via KNBR’s Jake Hutchinson:

Reports have targeted March as the time for Curry’s return to action, giving the point guard around 20 games with Golden State. Although the Warriors are out of the playoff picture entirely, Curry’s remaining time with Golden State in the 2019-20 season is precious.

The Warriors hopes of returning to the top of NBA standings next season rests on the health of Curry. How he responds after missing a significant chunk of the season is a question that needs to be answered in Golden State.

Steve Kerr on Steph Curry’s non-contact practice: ‘We’re calling him Tom Brady today’

Steve Kerr says the Warriors are giving Stephen Curry the name “Tom Brady” as he wears a red non-contact jersey at practice.

With a 12-43 record at the All-Star break, there’s not much positivity circulating around the Golden State Warriors. However, when it comes to Stephen Curry’s broken hand injury, the good news keeps rolling in.

Curry has only played in four games in the 2019-20 season after suffering a broken hand injury in late October. Since the 2020 New Year began, Curry has had a bevy of positive updates about his left hand.

Curry’s been traveling with Golden State on the road and participating in shooting exercises. The two-time Most Valuable Player has taken part in recent pregame workouts while ramping things up at practice.

In the Warriors’ first practice back from the All-Star break, Curry participated with the team at every level except for the scrimmage portion. Curry has yet to be cleared for full-contact practices. The six-time All-Star donned a red jersey to ensure no one would touch him.

Steve Kerr compared Curry’s practice attire to how the NFL protects quarterbacks.

Via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

We’re calling him Tom Brady today — don’t touch Steph. I think it was more for fun than anything, but, he took part in everything other than our scrimmage at the end, he couldn’t do that. He did take place in everything else, and he’s looking great.

Curry is scheduled to be reevaluated in just a couple weeks away in March. If the Davidson product can return healthy in March, he will have around 20 games with Golden State to finish the remainder of the season.

Warriors second half storylines: Getting familiar with Andrew Wiggins

How Andrew Wiggins fits into the Warriors system over the remainder of the 2019-20 season will give the Warriors a better look into the future.

At the All-Star break, the Golden State Warriors had the worst record in the NBA at 12-43. The standard term for a team that sits at the bottom of the NBA standings is rebuilding. Yet, the Warriors are in a different position.

After registering trips to the past five NBA Finals, the 2019-20 season looks like an outlier, despite Kevin Durant’s departure. Although signs point to the future for Golden State, the remainder of this season is critical for the team’s chances of returning to contention next year.

With expensive contracts on the books, it’s essential to find players from the current roster who can fit in next to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green next season. The second half of the season will be an evaluation process for Golden State decision-makers.

The newest Warrior may be the most important piece to the puzzle. Finding out who Andrew Wiggins is and where he fits with the Warriors once Curry is healthy are questions that will linger throughout the final games of the season.

Here are three things to watch with Wiggins for the remainder of the 2019-20 season:

Consistency

Wiggins has passed every test since being moved from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Warriors in a blockbuster deal on trade deadline day. The former first overall pick has impressed in his first three games in Golden State, but is it sustainable?

Wiggins has struggled with consistency over his career, but in Golden State, he will serve a different role. After being named Rookie of The Year in 2015, Wiggins was a focal point in Minnesota. With the Warriors surrounded by Curry, Thompson and Green, Wiggins will play a more centralized role.

With Wiggins’ workload tapered in Golden State, consistency from game-to-game should be the focus. With eyeballs glued to Curry and Thompson, Wiggins should have an advantage in a subtle role.

Chemistry with Curry

While finding ways to mesh with a healthy Curry is vital for every new member of the Warriors, but for Wiggins, it’s crucial. Reports indicate Curry will return from his broken hand injury in March, giving him around 20 games with Wiggins.

Wiggins alongside Curry in the starting lineup will give Golden State their best glimpse of what the future could look like next season. Wiggins has played with All-Star caliber talents like Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns, but the gravity Curry pulls is unlike anything in the NBA.

How Wiggins takes advantage of the spacing Curry creates will be something to monitor until the season ends.

Defense

Somewhat of a surprise since being traded to the Warriors has been Wiggins’ ability on the defensive end of the floor. In three games in Golden State, Wiggins already has new career highs in both blocks and steals.

Steve Kerr has praised the flexibility Wiggins has brought defensively. Wiggins has locked up with Devin Booker and LeBron James in his new stint with the Warriors.

For the rest of the season, Wiggins will get more opportunities to tangle with Golden State’s opponent’s best wing option. Adding a former Defensive Player of the Year in Green next to Wiggins as he continues to develop could give Golden State a formidable duo.

Watch: Steph Curry fired up after Giannis Antetokounmpo’s All-Star block on LeBron James

Stephen Curry was fired up watching the 2020 NBA All-Star Game at home.

The 2020 edition of the NBA All-Star game had a different feel to it. In Chicago, the NBA switched up how the star-studded exhibition was decided. Each quarter was split up into stand-alone periods, with the winner getting $100,000 donated to charity.

The most exciting change came in the final period. The fourth quarter was played with no time; instead, the game was decided by a point total — similar to pick-up basketball.

The new format provided fireworks. A game known for showing off turned into a legitimate competition. All-Stars were passing the ball to get an efficient shot, taking charges and playing defense.

One of the key defensive moments came from the reigning Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo. The “Greek Freak” met LeBron James at the rim to send him away with an emphatic block. The swat was initially called goaltending, but after review, it was ruled a clean block. However, James had the last laugh when his team edged out Team Giannis, 157-156.

Although the game was exciting, it was still missing the presence of six-time All-Star, Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors’ guard has only played four games this season due to his hand injury, yet still finished in the top-10 of Western Conference voting.

Curry’s absence from All-Star festivities didn’t stop him from tuning in. Ayesha Curry posted a story on her Instagram with her husband cheering after Antetokounmpo’s block on James.

Reports have targeted March for Curry’s return to the court from injury. The injured guard will have around 20 games with Golden State to knock off the rust before getting back to an All-Star campaign next season. Curry will have the chance to make his debut in the new All-Star Game format next year in Indianapolis, Indiana.
