In Colorado men’s basketball’s final Pac-12 trip to Beasley Coliseum, the Big 12-bound Buffaloes fell to Washington State, 78-69.

Colorado trailed for 37 minutes on Saturday and received little offensive production outside of KJ Simpson. While the Buffs made things interesting late in the second half, Myles Rice and Isaac Jones stepped up for the Cougars when needed.

Simpson led the Buffs with 25 points and Tristan da Silva had 16, but Colorado shot only 38.6% from the field. Washington State, meanwhile, made just over 45% of its shots.

Colorado men’s basketball knocks off first-place Oregon Ducks

Cody Williams’ huge night helped Colorado hand Oregon its first Pac-12 loss

Cody Williams likely won’t be playing college basketball much longer, so Colorado fans better appreciate whatever time he has left in Boulder.

Going up against Oregon on Thursday night, the freshman phenom produced arguably the best performance of his young career, dropping a season-best 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting. Williams, along with KJ Simpson and his 22 points, was key as the Buffs knocked off the visiting Ducks, 86-70.

“All his (Williams) shots tonight were great shots,” CU head coach Tad Boyle said. “I think people are starting to play him as a driver a little bit because he’s a good driver. Obviously, we want him to drive the ball and be aggressive.”

Oregon entered Thursday undefeated in Pac-12 play and atop the conference standings. While the Ducks remain in first place at 5-1, their loss confirmed the Pac-12 is wide open.

With the win, Colorado improved to 13-5 overall, 4-3 in the Pac-12 and 11-0 at home.

The Buffs led for over 34 minutes and shot over 50% from the field for the 10th time this season. Three other Buffs finished in double-figures scoring: J’Vonne Hadley (11), Tristan da Silva (13) and Luke O’Brien (10).

After the game, Boyle shared his appreciation for Hadley, who also contributed six rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

“People don’t talk about him enough in terms of the little things that he does for our team: moving the ball, sharing the ball,” Boyle said. “He made some really nice plays tonight and got to the foul line. He guards every single night and leads every single night. I can’t say enough about that kid.”

Colorado will next host Oregon State on Saturday at 5 p.m. MT.

Head coach JR Payne and the No. 5 CU Buffs women’s basketball team cruised to its seventh straight win on Sunday, beating Arizona State, 81-68.

Colorado is now 3-0 to start conference play for the first time since 1996-97, a season in which the Buffs won the Big 12 Tournament before reaching the Sweet Sixteen. The times were good then for the Buffs, and the times are good now in Payne’s eighth year.

At Desert Financial Arena on Sunday, Aaronette Vonleh enjoyed another 20-point game while Frida Formann, Quay Miller and Maddie Nolan also scored in the double figures.

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Colorado’s transfer additions

Once again, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders owns college football’s top-ranked transfer portal class.

Seventeen players from the portal, including five highly-needed offensive linemen, are committed to the Buffs as of Sunday. With five-star OT Jordan Seaton also now officially coming to Boulder, Shedeur Sanders figures to have a much cleaner pocket next fall.

Additionally, Coach Prime gifted his son multiple intriguing receivers out of the portal: Will Sheppard (Vanderbilt), Terrell Timmons Jr. (North Carolina State), Cordale Russell (TCU) and former Cincinnati tight end Chamon Metayer.

Looking back at Travis Hunter’s sensational first season at Colorado

Take a photographic look back at Travis Hunter’s first season with the Buffs

Travis Hunter was an absolute joy to watch in his first season wearing a Colorado Buffaloes uniform. The two-way star made several jaw-dropping plays on both sides of the ball and should only get better heading into 2024.

As Hunter said on his Bleacher Report show earlier this week, “We coming different next year.” After seeing what he did in 2023, next year can’t come soon enough.

Defensively, Hunter finished his inaugural campaign at Colorado with 30 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups. And he was just as impressive on offense, totaling 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns despite missing three full games.

The 2023 season is now complete for Colorado. Despite enduring a few late bumps, it’s hard not to be optimistic about the future of Buffs football under the leadership of head coach Deion Sanders.

After starting the campaign 3-0, Coach Prime and the Buffs went on to lose eight of their next nine games to finish the season with a disappointing 4-8 record in their final year playing in the Pac-12. Next fall, we’ll see the Buffs back in the Big 12.

As we reflect on a wild season of CU football, here are some of the top photos from Coach Prime’s first season in Boulder:

Shedeur Sanders surpasses 10,000 career passing yards

Shedeur Sanders reached an impressive career milestone

Shedeur Sanders reached an impressive career milestone on Saturday in Colorado football’s 2023 home finale against Arizona. With a 12-yard pass to tight end Michael Harrison late in the second quarter, Sanders surpassed 10,000 passing yards in his college career.

Prior to joining the Buffs, Sanders totaled 6,963 passing yards in his two years at Jackson State. He entered Saturday needing only 155 to reach 10,000.

Sanders also surpassed 3,000 passing yards on the season, joining Sefo Liufau (2014) and Koy Detmer (1996) as the only QBs in Colorado history to reach that number in a single season.

The Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team wasted no time in making a massive statement on opening night. After a Sweet 16 loss in last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Buffs faced the No. 1 LSU Tigers, who are fresh off a national title.

Well, the Buffs prevailed with ease on Monday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, walking away with a 92-78 victory that sent social media into a frenzy.

Frida Formann led the way with 27 points, five rebounds and five assists and Aaronette Vonleh was right behind with a 24/6/4 stat line. Point guard Jaylyn Sherrod also posted 19 points and eight boards.

While that was certainly disappointing, let’s remember to keep things in perspective. Colorado’s rebuild is going to take time. Yes, those first three wins were thrilling, but nobody truly expected the Buffs to compete with an AP Top 10 team this season.

Well, the No. 19 Buffs and head coach Deion Sanders got a taste of the big picture on Saturday in a brutal 42-6 loss to No. 10 Oregon. Colorado’s offensive and defensive lines were brutal as the Ducks were dominant in every aspect of the game.

Take a look back at the best images from Coach Prime’s home debut

For a number of reasons, Saturday was a special day in Colorado football history. Not only did the No. 22 Buffs beat rival Nebraska in head coach Deion Sanders’ home debut, but they also opened their 100th season at Folsom Field and secured a spot on ESPN’s “College GameDay” for next week.

Over 53,000 fans packed Folsom for the highly-anticipated matchup, marking the stadium’s highest attendance in 15 years. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders was impressive once again as he connected with wide receiver Xavier Weaver for 170 yards and a touchdown.
