Happy Friday DawgNation! Today’s play of the day comes from Georgia versus Missouri at Sanford Stadium in 2017.

Missouri quarterback Drew Lock’s two quick passing touchdowns had the unranked Tigers tied 14-14 with No. 4 Georgia at the end of the first quarter.

But the tie definitely would not last. This game-changing play from Georgia star running back Nick Chubb seemed to give the Bulldogs the spark they needed in the first play of the second quarter.

Georgia would go on to claim the 53-28 win behind a two-touchdown performance from both quarterback Jake Fromm and running back Sony Michel.

Georgia football play of the day – Georgia vs Auburn (2002)

Watch the Georgia football play of the day here!

It’s Thursday, August 6 and today’s play of the day comes Georgia at Auburn in 2002 – the same Georgia squad that claimed an SEC Championship and Sugar Bowl victory in the same year.

Before the Bulldogs secured the 13th SEC title in school history, they faced a tough No. 24 Auburn team at Jordan-Hare Stadium, who, with 1:25 remaining, held a 4-point lead over the No. 7 Bulldogs with a shot to play in the SEC Championship game on the line.

Here’s what happened next – narrated by the legendary Larry Munson.

“We jump up, touchdown!”

The Bulldogs would go on to win 24-21, led by receiver Michael Johnson’s 13 catches for 141 yards and one game-winning touchdown.

Dawgs in the NFL: Nick Chubb ranks No. 36 on the NFL 100

Former Georgia star running back Nick Chubb is making his mark on the NFL. He is ranked No. 36 on the annual NFL 100. Details here!

Former Georgia star running back Nick Chubb is the second most prolific rusher in Georgia football history with 4, 769 yards and is now making his name heard with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL.

Chubb was recently rated No. 36 in the annual NFL 100 which ranks the 100 best players in the league. Chubb was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft where he rushed for 996 yards with eight touchdowns in his rookie season.

2019 was a break-out year for the Cedar Town, Georgia native. Chubb rushed for 1494 yards (2nd in NFL) with eight touchdowns, which earned him a 2019 Prow Bowl invitation and the Brown’s offensive MVP.

Additionally , Pro Football Focus (PFF) rated Chubb as the best running back in the NFL over the past two seasons.

“Chubb has been the best rusher in the NFL since being drafted in the second round by the Browns in 2018. He is the only running back with a PFF rushing grade north of 90.0 over that two-year stretch, and he joins Derrick Henry as one of just two running backs to average over 4 yards after contact per attempt on 100 or more carries. You won’t find any negatives on Chubb’s resume in the broken tackle department, either. No matter which way you cut it, bringing this man to the ground is not an easy task.”

PFF: Georgia QB Jamie Newman No. 1 among Power 5 in TDs versus the blitz

PFF released a stat which lists new Georgia QB Jamie Newman as the No. 1 in TDs versus the blitz among power 5 QBs. Read our analysis here!

Pro Football Focus (PFF) recently released a graphic showing Wake Forest transfer quarterback, new Georgia signal caller Jamie Newman as first among all power five quarterbacks in touchdowns versus the blitz.

It seems as if every month we learn of a new stat that shows Newman as one of the top quarterbacks returning for the 2020 college football season.

Early this year, PFF listed Newman as the No. 3 returning quarterback in college football behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State’s Justin Fields and rated Newman as the highest graded passer on throws of 30 yards or more.

What we’ve learned from these advanced stats from PFF is that Newman is not only a 500 yard rusher, but he’s also got a cannon for an arm, which he’s not afraid to let loose with pressure in his face.

With star receiver George Pickens on the outside and running backs Zamir White and James Cook out of the backfield, Newman should have every opportunity to stretch the field in Georgia’s 2020 offense.

Of course, there are still some remaining questions about the offensive line rebuild and new offensive coordinator Todd Monken’s system translating, but there is no questioning the quality in talent that coach Kirby Smart and staff have put together on this offense for 2020.

It’s Friday, July 24 and today’s play of the day comes from the book of clean old fashioned hate – Georgia versus Georgia Tech in 2013.

One of the most exciting games of the classic series, the 2013 matchup featured 75 points and a walk-off touchdown in the second overtime. Georgia star running back Todd Gurley had a monster game, scoring three touchdowns, two of those in overtime.

After Tech’s turnover on downs, it was Georgia’s turn in the second overtime – any points would win the game for the Bulldogs.

First-and-10 from Georgia Tech’s 25-yard-line, Gurley takes an inside hand-off and beats the defense to the end zone for the score and the Georgia win.

Former Georgia fullback, No. 46 Chris McCarthy helped pave the way for Georgia’s 1980 National Championship while blocking for legendary running back Herschel Walker. McCarthy (1979-1982) was also a large part of Walker’s Heisman campaign in 1982 and added 322 yards on the ground that season.

Here is a game clip from Georgia versus Florida (1982). Perhaps McCarthy’s best game as a Bulldog, he helped share Herschel’s load against a stingy Florida defense and even broke a long run to cap it off.
