Tennessee at Cincinnati odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Tennessee Volunteers at Cincinnati Bearcats betting odds and lines, with NCAA basketball betting picks and bets.

The Tennessee Volunteers (7-2, 0-0 SEC) and the Cincinnati Bearcats (6-4, 0-0 AAC) square off Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET at Fifth Third Arena. We analyze the Tennessee-Cincinnati odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Tennessee at Cincinnati: Three things you need to know

1. The Bearcats are looking to bounce back after a stunning 67-66 loss at home to Colgate. G Jarron Cumberland fired up a 3-pointer with about five seconds left, as Colgate came down with it and ended up at the free-throw line to win it.

2. The Volunteers are coming off a 51-47 loss against Memphis last time out. That’s the bad news. The good news is the defense hasn’t allowed 70 or more points all season.

3. Both teams are a disaster against the number, as the Vols are 1-4 against the spread in the past five overall and 2-5 ATS in the past seven on the road, while the Bearcats are 8-23 ATS in the past 31 overall dating back to last season.

Tennessee at Cincinnati: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Tennessee 69, Cincinnati 55

Moneyline (ML)

TENNESSEE (-125) is worth a considerable bet on the road, as the ranked Volunteers face a Cincinnati (+105) side that can’t seem to get out of its own way lately.

A $10 bet on the Vols to win outright would return a profit of $8.

Against the Spread (ATS)

TENNESSEE (-1.5, -110) is expected to win, and all it has to do is win by a bucket to cover. The Volunteers are a better value against the spread. While they have struggled on the road against the number, the Bearcats (+1.5, -110) are coming off a home loss to Colgate, they have dropped two in a row, and they have won just once in regulation over their past four home games. They’re not playing good ball right now.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 129.5 (-106) is worth a small-unit play, although confidence is not high. Tennessee’s defense has been strong this season, however, and that’s not what Cincinnati needs as it looks to bounce back.

Ohio State at Minnesota odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Ohio State Buckeyes at Minnesota Golden Gophers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Ohio State Buckeyes (9-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will tangle in the Twin Cities with the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-5, 0-1 Big Ten) in a Big Ten Conference battle at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday. We analyze the Ohio State-Minnesota odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Ohio State at Minnesota: Three things you need to know

1. The Buckeyes really burst onto the national scene by hammering North Carolina at the Dean Dome Dec. 4. With a victory the Buckeyes might ascend to the No. 1 spot in the rankings for the first time since 2010-11.

2. The Golden Gophers are a game below .500, but they have had a tough schedule during the early going. They have losses to Oklahoma, Butler, Utah, DePaul and Iowa, in the Big Ten opener.

3. Ohio State has covered the spread in seven straight games, including six in a row as a favorite.

Ohio State at Minnesota: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Ohio State 74, Minnesota 67

Moneyline (ML)

Ohio State (-333) is expected to win this one, but as a moderate favorite the moneyline isn’t worth a play, as you’d have to risk way too much for a small reward. A $10 bet on the Buckeyes to win outright would return a profit of just $3.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MINNESOTA (+8.5, -143) should be able to hang around, as it’s catching four buckets at home. Home teams are actually 11-0 straight up in Big Ten games to date, so Ohio State (-8.5, +120) is on upset alert here. It’s all on the line, as a solid win and it’s likely headed for the top spot in the rankings. But a loss, even against a sub-.500 Minnesota team, wouldn’t be shocking.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Minnesota to cover the spread and stay within 8 points in a loss or win outright would profit $7 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 128.5 (-120) seems criminally low, but perhaps I am overvaluing the Buckeyes offense based on the fact they dropped a triple-digit total against Penn State in the conference opener. While the Under has been the trend for the Bucks, more often than not, the over is 4-1-2 in Minny’s past seven games against winning sides.

Gonzaga at Arizona odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Gonzaga Bulldogs at Arizona Wildcats sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs (10-1, 0-0 WCC) will square off with the Arizona Wildcats (10-1, 0-0 Pac-12) at McKale Memorial Center in Tucson at 10 p.m. ET Saturday. We analyze the Gonzaga-Arizona odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Gonzaga at Arizona: Three things you need to know

1. The Bulldogs have recorded wins against Pac-12 teams Oregon and Washington already this season. The Over hit in both matchups.

2. The Wildcats have just one loss, a 63-58 setback at Baylor Dec. 7. At home they won by 50 last time out over Omaha, and five of their past six games in Tucson have been double-digit victories.

3. Gonzaga topped Arizona 91-74 last season in the Maui Invitational semifinals, and the Zags have won six of the previous nine meetings in this series.

Gonzaga at Arizona: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Gonzaga 83, Arizona 77

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. GONZAGA would be the pick on the road, even though Arizona is certainly hostile territory. The Bulldogs have faced plenty of adversity already, so don’t expect them to be fazed.

Against the Spread (ATS)

GONZAGA (+3.5, -139) is a strong option on the road, especially considering Arizona (-3.5, +115) is just 1-4 ATS in the past five overall, and 0-4 ATS in the past four against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Gonzaga to cover the spread and stay within 3 points in a loss or win outright would profit $7.20 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 152.5 (+110) is a great option in this high-profile matchup. The total has gone Over in five straight for the Zags. While the Under is 5-2 in Arizona’s past seven against winning teams, the Over is 4-1 in the past five on its home floor.

Memphis at Tennessee odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Memphis Tigers at Tennessee Volunteers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Memphis Tigers (8-1, 0-0 AAC) travel to meet the Tennessee Volunteers (7-1, 0-0 SEC) in Knoxville Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. We analyze the Memphis-Tennessee odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Memphis at Tennessee: Three things you need to know

1. The Volunteers have posted a 3-7 against the spread mark across their past 10 games at home, while the underdog is 9-3 ATS in the past 12 meetings in this Volunteer State rivalry.

2. The Tigers are still without C James Wiseman for another month, as he remains suspended by the NCAA. To make matters worse, freshman G Lester Quinones (hand) is considered questionable due to a hand injury.

3. Tennessee won 102-92 in the most recent meeting Dec. 15, 2018.

Prediction

Tennessee 76, Memphis 72

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. TENNESSEE would be the pick.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MEMPHIS (+6.5, -115) is a good play catching more than three buckets. This is a rivalry game, and even though Wiseman isn’t part of the festivities, Quinones might be back after a three-game absence. Either way, the Tigers should be able to at least keep it close.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Memphis to cover the spread would profit $8.70 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 139.5 (-105) is worth a small-unit play. While the Under is 4-1 in Tennessee’s past five overall, the Over is 7-3-1 in its past 11 at home. The Under has also dominated for Memphis, but the Over is 4-1 in its past five against winning teams.

Oregon at Michigan odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Oregon Ducks at Michigan Wolverines sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks and tips.

The Michigan Wolverines (8-2, 1-1 Big Ten) host the Oregon Ducks (7-2, 0-0 Pac-12) battle at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor at 12:00 p.m. ET. We analyze the Oregon-Michigan odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Oregon at Michigan: Three things you need to know

1. The Wolverines look to bounce back after falling at Illinois last time out by a 71-62 score. After a 7-0 straight-up start the Wolverines are 1-2 SU and against the spread in their past three games.

2. Oregon enters play on a 6-2 SU/7-1 ATS run across the past eight contests. The Over is 6-1-1 during the span.

3. The Ducks rank 18th in the country in 3-point percentage (67.4), and they’re 34th in the land in field-goal defense percentage (37.8).

Prediction

Michigan 74, Oregon 70

Moneyline (ML)

There was no moneyline posted at the time of publishing. MICHIGAN would be the pick as it is looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss on the road against Illinois. Oregon hasn’t been great away from home this season, so look for the Wolverines to get that bounce-back win.

Against the Spread (ATS)

PASS. Michigan (-3.5, -110) is favored at home, but you can expect this game to be a nip and tuck affair and a total sweatshop to the end. They need to win by two or more buckets, and I expect they’ll win by four.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Michigan to cover the spread would profit $9.09 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 137.5 (-110) is the play, going 3-0-1 in the past four on the road for the Ducks, while going 4-0-1 in UO’s past five overall. While Michigan is coming off an Under in Illinois, the Wolverines will show much better offensive results at home.

Michigan at Illinois odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Michigan Wolverines vs. Illinois Fighting Illini sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks and tips.

The Michigan Wolverines (8-1, 1-0 Big Ten) and the Illinois Fighting Illini (6-3, 0-1) square off at State Farm Center at 9 p.m. ET in a Big Ten Conference clash. We analyze the Michigan-Illinois odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Michigan at Illinois: Three things you need to know

1. The Wolverines were drummed 58-43 at No. 1 Louisville Dec. 3, but they rebounded with plenty of anger, topping the Iowa Hawkeyes 103-91 at Crisler Center Dec. 6. While they lost the road game to the Cards, they do have impressive late November wins over then-No. 6 North Carolina (73-64) and then-No. 8 Gonzaga (82-64) on a neutral floor at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas.

2. Michigan is 41-18-2 against the spread in the past 61 against teams with a winning overall record.

3. Illinois is 2-6 ATS in the past eight against teams with a winning overall record.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Michigan 88, Illinois 77

Moneyline (ML)

MICHIGAN (+115) is going to win this game outright. An elite team, which beat Gonzaga and North Carolina, isn’t going to lose to an ordinary Illinois club, which has losses to Arizona, Miami (Fla.) and Maryland.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MICHIGAN (+1.5, -110) is worth a rather sizeable bet if you can afford it from your bankroll. Juwan Howard’s club is going to steamroll Illinois (-1.5, -110) on the road in Champaign. The Illini are improving, especially with dynamic freshman C Kofi Cockburn, but they’re not quite there yet.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Michigan to stay within 2 points in a loss or win outright would profit $9.09 if it does so.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 142.5 (-110) is the play in this one. I love the Wolverines and the Over as part of a multi-unit parlay. If you’re looking to make a little cheddar on Hump Day, that’s the way to go.

Indiana vs. Connecticut odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Indiana Hoosiers vs. Connecticut Huskies sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks and tips.

The Indiana Hoosiers (8-1) and the Connecticut Huskies (6-2) lock horns in the Jimmy V Classic in New York at approximately 9:00 p.m. ET after the Texas Tech-Louisville game is completed. We analyze the Indiana-Connecticut odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Indiana vs. Connecticut: Three things you need to know

1. The Hoosiers won eight straight games to open the season, but they were dumped by 20 points last time out in the Big Ten Conference opener at Wisconsin to splash cold water on their hot start.

2. Huskies G Christian Vital has posted 14.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game to lead his team.

3. Indiana is just 9-23-1 against the spread in the past 33 games as a favorite on a neutral-site court.

Prediction

Indiana 78, Connecticut 66

Moneyline (ML)

INDIANA (-161) is worth a small-unit bet on the moneyline, but they’re a much better value when laying the points with the spread.

Against the Spread (ATS)

INDIANA (-2.5, -110) has covered five of the past seven games overall, and is 5-2 ATS in the past seven when installed as a favorite, too. Connecticut (+2.5, -110) is 4-1 ATS in the past five neutral-site games but is just 2-8 ATS in the past 10 as an underdog in neutral-site contests.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS (142.5). The total is going to be super close, and the trends are all over the board in this one. It’s all Over all the time for IU, going 7-2 in the past nine overall, and 5-1 in the past six neutral-site games when favored. The Under is 5-1 in UConn’s past six, and 5-2 in the past seven neutral-site affairs.

Texas Tech vs. Louisville odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Louisville Cardinals sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-3) and the top-ranked Louisville Cardinals (9-0) tip it off in the Jimmy V Classic Tuesday in New York at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. ET. We analyze the Texas Tech-Louisville odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

The Cardinals are ranked first in the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll.

Texas Tech vs. Louisville: Three things you need to know

1. Cardinals F Malik Williams (foot) appears to be fully recovered from a broken right foot. He posted 13 points and 11 rebounds against Pittsburgh Friday for his fourth-career double-double.

2. The Red Raiders are on a three-game non-conference losing streak, falling to Iowa, Creighton and DePaul. They haven’t lost four straight non-conference games since the 1990-91 season.

3. This is the first-ever meeting between these schools on the hardwood.

Prediction

Louisville 66, Texas Tech 57

Moneyline (ML)

AVOID taking Louisville (-333) on the moneyline, as they’re just too expensive. It is generally a bad idea to lay anything more than -160 or -170.

Against the Spread (ATS)

LOUISVILLE (-6.5, -121) will get a nice test from Texas Tech (+6.5, +100), but it’s an assignment they’ll pass with flying colors. The Red Raiders are on a three-game skid, and pulling off a win against the top-ranked team is just not in the ‘cards’. Yeah, I know. That was bad.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 131.5 (-139) is a nice play in the front end of the Jimmy V Classic. The Under is 4-1 in Texas Tech’s past five games against teams with a winning percentage over .600, while the Under has hit in four of the past five for the Cardinals. Look for both of these defensive-minded teams to keep the total well below the number.

Butler at Baylor: Three things you need to know

1. The Bulldogs have passed all early tests with flying colors, rattling off wins over Minnesota, Missouri, Stanford, Mississippi and Florida so far while going 7-2 against the spread.

2. Graduate transfer C Derrik Smits, son of former NBA center Rik Smits, is out indefinitely for Butler due to a knee injury.

3. Baylor has posted a 4-0 ATS record against teams with a winning record.

Prediction

Baylor 75, Butler 71

Moneyline (ML)

Baylor (-286) is a bit expensive on the moneyline, so it’s a good idea to pass in this top-20 battle which could go either way.

Against the Spread (ATS)

BUTLER (+5.5, +100) pays plus-money and the Bulldogs are unbeaten, having passed all tests to date. They might not leave Waco with an unblemished record, but Baylor (-5.5, -120) will have trouble covering the number. Look for the Bulldogs to keep it within three buckets.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 131.5 (-110) is the play in this one, especially since the total has gone Over in 21 of the past 30 for the Bears, and the Over is 20-8 in the previous 28 for Baylor against teams with a winning percentage over .600. Gonzaga at Washington odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Gonzaga Bulldogs at Washington Huskies college basketball matchup, with NCAA basketball betting odds, picks and best bets

The Gonzaga Bulldogs (9-1) and the Washington Huskies (7-1) lock horns in an Evergreen State battle at Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Gonzaga-Washington odds and betting lines, while providing college basketball betting tips and advice on this matchup.

The Bulldogs are ranked ninth in the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll. The Huskies are No. 23.

Gonzaga at Washington: Three things you need to know

1. Washington leads this series 29-18, but the Bulldogs have won 12 of the past 13 meetings in this series, including 81-79 at home last season.

2. Filip Petrusev appears to be the next Zags great, averaging 15.7 points and 8.4 rebounds to lead Gonzaga in both categories.

3. Isaiah Stewart leads the Huskies with 16.5 PPG and 7.6 RPG. The freshman forward also averages 2.0 blocks per game.

Gonzaga at Washington: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:25 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Gonzaga 81, Washington 75

Moneyline (ML)

AVOID. Gonzaga (-200) is a little costly, having to bet double what you want to profit. There is a good possibility this could be a one-possession game, similar to last season’s 81-79 battle in Spokane. Washington is +170.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Gonzaga to win returns a profit of $5. In other words, every $1 bet on the Zags to win would proft $0.50 if they prevail. Every $1 wagered on the Huskies would profit $1.70 if they win.

Against the Spread (ATS)

A slight leant to GONZAGA (-4, -110). The Zags have posted a 2-5 ATS mark in their past seven road games, but the Huskies (+4, -110) are just 1-5 ATS in the past six as a home underdog. Look for the well-rounded Zags to head back east on Interstate 90 with a feather in their cap, and state bragging rights again.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 144 (-110) is the play in this one. Expect Gonzaga to be off and running, with Washington looking to slow things down a little. The Over is a perfect 4-0 in the past four for the Zags, and 5-2 in the past seven against winning teams.
