Mississippi State at Memphis odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Mississippi State at Memphis odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs (10-1) and the No. 22 Memphis Tigers (9-2) meet Saturday at FedEx Forum in Memphis. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Mississippi State vs. Memphis odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Mississippi State posted an 83-59 win over Central Michigan Tuesday on a neutral floor, covering as a 20-point favorite with the Under (148) cashing. Despite the cover, the Bulldogs are still just 2-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past 5 outings, while the Under is 3-1 in the past 4 contests.

Memphis scratched out a 64-62 win at Virginia Wednesday, but it just missed covering as a 3.5-point favorite as the Under (129.5) connected. The Tigers have won 3 of the past 4 games but are 1-4 ATS in the past 5 games after a 6-0 ATS start. The Over is 4-1 in their past 5 contests.

Mississippi State at Memphis picks and predictions

Prediction

Memphis 81, Mississippi State 76

Moneyline

Memphis (-110) should be able to get the job done at home in this battle on the banks of the Mississippi River. So far this season, the Tigers have split 1-1 SU/ATS in 2 games against the SEC. However, with victories against No. 13 UConn, then-No. 16 Clemson, Michigan State, Missouri and Virginia, don’t underestimate the Tigers, especially at home.

However, PASS on an ML wager as Memphis is a much better value laying the little bit of points.

Against the spread

BACK MEMPHIS -1.5 (+100) at even-money as the Tigers should be able to get the job done by at least a bucket. Backing the Tigers laying 1½ points is a much better value than taking them on the moneyline.

Mississippi State enters on a 4-game win streak, but as mentioned above, it is just 2-3 ATS in the past 5 outings. In the past 9 contests, the Bulldogs are 4-5 ATS.

Over/Under

OVER 151.5 (-110) is a solid play in this marquee matchup of ranked teams.

While the Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4 outings for Mississippi State, the total has cashed high in the team’s only previous true road game.

For the Tigers, in their current 4-1 Over run, they have scored 76 or more points in 3 of those outings. They have also allowed 82 or more points in 3 of the past 5 contests, too.

North Florida at Florida odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s North Florida vs. Florida odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The North Florida Ospreys (7-5) and the No. 6 Florida Gators (11-0) meet Saturday at Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville. Tip-off is set for noon ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the North Florida vs. Florida odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

North Florida suffered a 95-81 loss at UNC Asheville Tuesday as a 3-point underdog with the Over (162) cashing. UNF has outright wins at South Carolina and at Georgia Tech, while opening the season 4-1 straight up (SU) and 4-0 against the spread (ATS). However, the Ospreys are just 3-4 SU and 2-4 ATS in the past 7 outings. What’s really impressive is that the Over is a perfect 10-0 this season for UNF.

Florida picked up a 90-84 win as a 3.5-point favorite against North Carolina Tuesday on a neutral floor at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. It was the Gators’ sixth consecutive cover. They have scored 83 or more points in 4 in a row, and at least 81 points in 10 of their 11 games. The Over is 2-1 in the past 3 outings, but 5-6 overall.

  • Against the spread: North Florida +25.5 (-115) | Florida -25.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 170.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

FanDuel Sportsbook lists a ML of:

  • North Florida +2200 (bet $100 to win $2,200)
  • Florida -8000 (bet $8,000 to win $100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

North Florida at Florida picks and predictions

Prediction

Florida 96, North Florida 78

Moneyline

Florida (-8000) will cost 80 times the potential return, which is obviously way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. In fact, it will cost $100 for every $1.25 of profit.

AVOID.

Against the spread

BET NORTH FLORIDA +25.5 (-115) with the big points in this intra-state battle in Gainesville.

The Ospreys have already slayed 2 big-time programs, knocking off South Carolina and Georgia Tech this season. However, UNF has tailed off a little bit lately. Still, the Ospreys keep the foot on the gas, scoring plenty, and allowing plenty. They have the horses to at least stay within arm’s length.

There is risk as Florida has covered the past 6 games. However, as a favorite of 19 or more points, the Gators are 0-3 ATS this season.

Over/Under

OVER 170.5 (-110) is worth a look, but don’t get carried away.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the Over is a perfect 10-for-10 for North Florida so far this season.

The Gators have rolled up 83 or more points in 4 in a row, and more than 80 points in 10 of their 11 games.

Both teams rank in the top 15 in the nation in scoring. North Florida is seventh at 87.9 points per game (according to NCAA.com), while Florida is 15th at 86.5 PPG.

Marquette at Xavier odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Marquette at Xavier odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 9 Marquette Golden Eagles (10-2, 1-0 Big East) face the Xavier Musketeers (8-4, 0-1) Saturday. Tip-off from Cintas Center in Cincinnati is set for noon ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Marquette vs. Xavier odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Marquette kicked off Big East play with an 80-70 victory over Butler Wednesday but fell short of covering as a 14.5-point home favorite. The Over (148.5) hit, and the Golden Eagles showcased impressive ball control with only 2 turnovers, their lowest mark since Jan. 8, 2011, according to Elias Sports. G Kam Jones led the way, filling the stat sheet with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals in the win vs. Butler.

Xavier suffered its second consecutive loss — both to ranked opponents — falling 94-89 in overtime at No. 13 UConn Wednesday and 68-65 at No. 20 Cincinnati Dec. 14. However, the Musketeers covered the spread in both losses — as 13.5-point underdogs at UConn and as 8-point ‘dogs at Cincy. The O/U lines was 146.5 in both games. Against UConn, G Ryan Conwell scored a game-high 23 points, while G Dante Maddox Jr. came off the bench to add 22 points.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Marquette -5.5 (-110) | Xavier +5.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 154.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Marquette at Xavier picks and predictions

Prediction

Marquette 82, Xavier 75

Moneyline

PASS.

Marquette will win this game Saturday afternoon, but the -225 price is too costly, so I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET MARQUETTE -5.5 (-110).

Marquette has dominated this series recently, winning the last 4 meetings vs. Xavier and covering the spread in the last 3. The Golden Eagles’ most recent victory vs. the Muskies was last March 9, an 86-80 triumph as 3.5-point road favorites.

Xavier has also struggled against top competition, losing each of its last 13 games against AP-ranked opponents, dating back to the 2023 Big East Tournament.

The Golden Eagles have proven their mettle with a tough recent stretch, losing to No. 3 Iowa State and No. 24 Dayton and beating then-No. 11 Wisconsin and Butler in their last 4 games.

This game will likely be decided in the paint, where Marquette has the edge. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Butler 38-27 in their last game, showcasing their physicality. On the other hand, Xavier was outmuscled on the boards 35-27 in its loss to UConn, highlighting a potential weakness.

I dig the GOLDEN EAGLES -5.5 (-110) to steal this game on the road.

Over/Under

BET OVER 154.5 (-110).

The trends point toward the Under, as 5 of the last 6 head-to-head matchups have gone that route.

However, this season is different. Xavier averages 80.4 points per game (PPG), while Marquette scores 81.4 PPG. The Musketeers lead the Big East in 3-point shooting at 40.7%, which ranks ninth in the country according to NCAA.com. Xavier struggles defensively in that department, allowing opponents to hit 35.2% from beyond the arc.

With both teams capable of explosive offense, this game could turn into a shootout.

Duke at Georgia Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Duke at Georgia Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-6, 0-1 ACC) welcome the No. 5 Duke Blue Devils (9-2, 1-0) to McCamish Pavilion Saturday. Tip is set for noon ET (ACC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Duke vs. Georgia Tech odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Duke enters on a 5-game win streak. The Blue Devils are coming off a 68-47 home win over the George Mason Patriots Tuesday, covering as 19.5-point favorites. Duke has played 2 true road games so far and are 2-0 against the spread (ATS) in those and 7-4 ATS overall.

The Yellow Jackets snapped a 3-game losing streak Wednesday, beating the UMBC Retrievers 91-82 but not covering as 15.5-point home favorites. They have failed to cover in 4 of their last 5 games and are 3-8 ATS on the season. Georgia Tech has played 8 home games and is 0-2 ATS as an underdog in those and 2-6 ATS across all 8.

Duke at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 80, Georgia Tech 61

Moneyline

PASS.

The Blue Devils (-1400) are a far superior side but certainly aren’t worth a play at this price. While Georgia Tech (+800) is an ACC side, it likely isn’t capable of pulling off the upset. AVOID a moneyline play.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

BET DUKE -14.5 (-115).

The Blue Devils are 4-2 ATS as double-digit favorites. They are 2-0 ATS on the road, winning at Arizona by 14 as 2-point underdogs and at Louisville by 11 as 8.5-point favorites. Duke has the firepower to keep the foot on the gas as well with 7 players averaging more than 7 points per game.

Georgia Tech, at the same time, has struggled immensely both at home and as an underdog. Tech is 1-4 ATS as an underdog. It has also topped 65 points just once in the 5 games in which it has been an underdog.

Considering these trends, BACK DUKE -14.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 144.5 (-115).

If there’s one thing both teams can undoubtedly agree on, it is going Under the projected total. The Yellow Jackets are 4-7 O/U in their 11 games on the season and 0-5 O/U in games as underdogs.

Duke, despite its wide array of scoring, has defended well enough to consistently go Under. It is 3-8 O/U and has held its opponents to 47 or fewer in 2 straight games. It has gone Under in 8 of its last 9.

PLAY UNDER 144.5 (-115).

Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 20 Cincinnati Bearcats (8-1) and the No. 24 Dayton Flyers (10-2) meet Friday at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati in what is technically a neutral-site game. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Cincinnati vs. Dayton odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

This game is being played in Cincinnati, but it is not included in either team’s season-ticket package, and technically considered a neutral-site game.

The last time Cincinnati was ranked while facing another ranked team was in 2019 with the Bearcats topping then-No. 11 Houston 69-57 in the AAC title game. The Bearcats haven’t faced a ranked team this season.

Dayton will be playing a ranked team for the fifth time this season. It has losses against ranked North Carolina Tar Heels and Iowa State Cyclones teams, while it has topped Big East powers in the Marquette Golden Eagles and UConn Huskies.

UC is coming off a 68-65 win over the Xavier Muskateers in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout last Saturday, but the Bearcats have failed to cash in 4 straight outings. The Under is 7-1 in the past 8 games, too.

For the Flyers, they topped UNLV Rebels 66-65 on Tuesday despite the fact they were favored by 10.5 points. Dayton has won 5 in a row, but it is just 2-2 against the spread (ATS) in the past 4 outings. The Under has hit in the previous 2 games.

  • Against the spread: Cincinnati -3.5 (-110) | Dayton +3.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 138.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Cincinnati vs. Dayton picks and predictions

Prediction

Dayton 70, Cincinnati 66

Moneyline

While yes, this game is technically in the Queen City, DAYTON (+135) is easily the more battle-tested team this season. The Flyers won’t be fazed by playing in Cincinnati (-165), and it’s rather surprising to see the team with the better resume as the underdog. Take advantage.

Against the spread

BACK DAYTON +3.5 (-110) catching the points if you can’t trust it straight up. The window isn’t huge, but there is a little wiggle room in the result of a close Cincinnati -3.5 (-110) victory.

Dayton is 6-2 ATS in the past 8 games, and 8-3 ATS on the season, while Cincinnati has failed to cover the past 4 outings. In addition, the Flyers won 82-68 in last season’s resumption of the series, winning outright as a 5.5-point underdog, so there’s that.

Over/Under

UNDER 138.5 (-105) is the lean, but only go with a half-unit play at best.

The Under has dominated for the Flyers, cashing in 7 of the past 8 since an Over result in the opener against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions.

The Under has hit in the past 2 games for the Bearcats, too, although the Over has dominated for UC for the most part.

St. John’s at Providence odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s St. John’s at Providence odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The St. John’s Red Storm (9-2, 1-0 Big East) face the Providence Friars (7-5, 1-0) Friday. Tip-off from Amica Mutual Pavilion is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the St. John’s vs. Providence odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

St. John’s extended their winning streak to 4 games with an 89-61 victory over the DePaul Blue Demons on Tuesday. They covered as 11.5-point home favorites as the Under 151 hit. The defense was sharp, forcing 20 turnovers. Senior G Kadary Richmond stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal.

Providence lost to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 74-70 on Saturday, failing to cover as 3-point home favorites as the Over 127.5 hit. The Friars struggled in the paint, getting outscored 38-18. Guard Jayden Pierre contributed across the board with 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal.

St. John’s at Providence picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 77, Providence 63

Moneyline

PASS.

St. John’s (-275) will win this game on Friday night, but is too costly so I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET ST. JOHN’S -6.5 (-105).

Rick Pitino has the Red Storm clicking on both ends of the court. St. John’s is 8-3 against the spread (ATS) this season and has won 14 of their last 15 games against non-ranked opponents.

While Providence allows just 64.6 points per game (PPG), they gave up 74 points in their last outing and now face a high-powered St. John’s offense averaging 84.8 PPG, ranking 28th in the nation. The Red Storm has scored 88+ points in 3 straight games and is 11th in KenPom’s ratings, thanks to their balanced attack. Defensively, they’re holding opponents to 67.5 PPG.

The Friars face an uphill battle, especially if F Bryce Hopkins (19 PPG) is sidelined. Providence is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 143.5 (-110).

St. John’s can score in bunches, but it also excels in gritty, defensive battles. They’re holding opponents to under 68 points per game and dominate the glass with 14.7 offensive rebounds per contest.

Providence has struggled offensively without Hopkins, averaging just 70.5 PPG (292nd nationally). Their free-throw struggles—67.8% on 19.4 attempts per game—haven’t helped either. The Friars have also hit the Under in 2 of their last 3 games.

This has all the makings of a tough, physical Big East showdown where every point will count.

Houston Christian at Texas A&M odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Houston Christian at Texas A&M odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Texas A&M Aggies (9-2) welcome the Houston Christian Huskies (4-7) to the Reed Arena Friday afternoon for a non-conference game. Tip is set for 2 p.m. ET (SEC Network+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Houston Christian vs. Texas A&M odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Texas A&M, which is No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, enters on a 5-game win streak. The Aggies beat the No. 17 Purdue Boilermakers 70-66 on a neutral-court battle Saturday, closing as a 2-point underdog. They have covered 3 straight games and are 6-4-1 against the spread (ATS).  Texas A&M is 4-4-1 ATS as a favorite.

Houston Christian beat the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 74-68 Tuesday, closing as a 3.5-point road underdog. It was led by G Julian Mackey, who scored 32 points and nailed 6 triples. The Huskies are 8-1 ATS, having played 2 games that closed without a spread. They are 4-0 ATS as a double-digit underdog.

Houston Christian at Texas A&M picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 78, Houston Christian 58

Moneyline

PASS.

Even if you find odds on this game, avoid them.

Against the spread

BET HOUSTON CHRISTIAN +30.5 (-105).

Texas A&M is 2-1 ATS in its last 3 games as a favorite of 25 points or more, but is just 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games as a favorite. The Aggies’ top 2 scoring options shoot under 39% from the field, so they may not have the offensive weaponry to pull too far ahead against a capable Houston Christian squad.

The Huskies are 4-0 ATS on the road this season and have gone 2-0 ATS as an underdog of 30 points or more. They have played the Texas Longhorns and Creighton Bluejays, both of the road, losing those by 31 and 35 respectively. Houston Christian’s top 4 scorers all shoot at least 42% from the field.

Expect the Huskies to be able to keep it within 31 points so take HOUSTON CHRISTIAN +30.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 140.5 (-115).

The Huskies are 0-2 O/U in games in which they are an underdog of 30 points or more and 1-3 O/U when they are a double-digit underdog.

The Aggies are 4-7 O/U and have gone Under in 3 straight games. They are 1-4 O/U at home on the season and 1-2 O/U as a favorite of 20 or greater.

Considering those trends, back UNDER 140.5 (-115).

Merrimack at Saint Mary’s picks and predictions

Prediction

Saint Mary’s 77, Merrimack 59

Moneyline

Saint Mary’s (-5000) will cost you 50 times your potential return, which is obviously way too much risk for not nearly enough reward. In fact, you must risk $100 for every $2 of profit. That’s ridiculous, and not a recommended long-term betting strategy.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

PLAY MERRIMACK +20.5 (-110) catching this massive amount of points in Moraga.

The Warriors have managed to cover 4 of the past 5 games, and it is 3-1 ATS in the past 4 games as a double-digit underdog, including a straight up win at Troy Nov. 29 as an 11-point underdog.

Saint Mary’s -20.5 (-115) is just 1-3 ATS in the past 4 games, while going 3-7 ATS in 10 games this season.

Over/Under

OVER 129.5 (-110) is a strong play in this battle out west.

The Gaels have cashed low in 5 of the past 6 games, as SMC struggles to score, while locking it down defensively. Saint Mary’s has scored 76.2 PPG while hitting just 31.4% from behind the 3-point line. The Gaels have allowed just 63.4 PPG, while teams are hitting just 38.8% from the field.

For Merrimack, the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games. However, the Warriors have really struggled offensively, going for 63.3 PPG, among the worst marks in the nation, while hitting just 41.1% from the field and 30.1% from behind the 3-point line.

New Orleans at Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s New Orleans at Texas odds and lines with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Orleans Privateers (2-7) face the Texas Longhorns (9-2) on Thursday. Tip-off from Moody Center is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the New Orleans vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

New Orleans suffered its third consecutive loss 104-57 to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, failing to cover as 30.5-point underdogs as the Under 162.5 hit. The Privateers struggled to contain Iowa’s offense, as the Hawkeyes shot an impressive 62.7% (42-of-67) from the field. Senior G James White led New Orleans with a game-high 24 points.

Texas rebounded from its 76-65 loss to the No. 13 UConn Huskies on Dec. 8 with 2 straight wins, capped by a commanding 121-57 victory over the  Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Sunday. The Longhorns covered the 38.5-point spread and the over 160 hit. Their defense forced 22 turnovers, and all 5 starters scored in double figures. F Nic Codie came off the bench to lead the team with 20 points, showcasing their depth in the blowout win.

New Orleans at Texas odds

  • Moneyline (ML): Off the board
  • Against the spread: New Orleans +34.5 (-110) | Texas -34.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 149.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

New Orleans at Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 108, New Orleans 63

Moneyline

PASS.

The Longhorns are such favorites that Vegas is not even offering moneyline odds for this game. Take your wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET TEXAS -34.5 (-110).

This game is a clash of 2 teams on completely different levels. From talent to coaching, the gap is massive.

The Longhorns are heating up with 4 wins in their last 5 games, while the Privateers have dropped 4 of their last 5. Texas, hungry to get back into the Top 25, is led by star freshman Tre Johnson, who’s averaging 19.9 points per game (PPG).

New Orleans leans on guards James White and Jah Short, their only players averaging in double digits. Scoring just 67.1 PPG (285th in the country) while giving up 83.2 PPG (345th in the country), the Privateers struggle at both ends of the court.

It’s likely Texas hits the 100-point mark. KenPom rankings put New Orleans at No. 345 and Texas at No. 37, pointing to another blowout so expect a 40-to-50 point margin in favor of the Longhorns.

Over/Under

BET OVER 149.5 (-105).

This matchup feels similar to Sunday’s Iowa vs. New Orleans game, but this one should hit the Over. With the total set lower than Iowa’s 162.5, Texas is likely to break the century mark while New Orleans scores around 60. The Privateers’ defense has been a liability, giving up 90-plus points in 2 of their last 3 games. Meanwhile, Texas has scored 90-plus in 5 games this season. Expect plenty of scoring here.

UC Irvine at Belmont odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s UC Irvine at Belmont odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The UC Irvine Anteaters (9-1) and the Belmont Bruins (9-2) meet Thursday at the Curb Event Center Arena in Nashville. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the UC Irvine vs. Belmont odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

UC Irvine lost 67-55 at the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, its first loss of the season. Despite the setback and non-cover, UCI is still a respectable 6-3 against the spread (ATS) in 9 games, while the Under has cashed in 7 of 9 outings.

Belmont picked up a 93-86 win at the Richmond Spiders on Saturday as a 2-point road favorite as the Over (149) connected. The Bruins have 5 wins in 6 tries at home, while going 2-1-1 ATS in the past 4 at Curb. The Over has cashed in 5 in a row, while going 8-1 in the past 9 outings.

UC Irvine at Belmont odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list of college basketball odds. Lines last updated at 5:47 a.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): UC Irvine -135 (bet $135 to win $100) | Belmont +110 (bet $100 to win $110)
  • Against the spread: UC Irvine -2.5 (-105) | Belmont +2.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 152.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

UC Irvine at Belmont picks and predictions

Prediction

UC Irvine 85, Belmont 79

Moneyline

Rolling with UC Irvine (-135) straight up is a little more expensive than necessary. It does have a Quad 1 victory against the Northern Iowa Panthers on the road, and it came by 20 points, too. That was the only loss for the Anteaters, as they have 4 Q3 wins and 3 Q4 victories with no bad losses.

While Belmont (+110) has been money lately, it hasn’t had close to the same type of resume of UCI. The Bruins had a solid win at Richmond Saturday, but that’s just a Q4 game. It has ticked off a Q2 victory over the rival Lipscomb Bisons, but Belmont also lost a Q4 game against the Loyola Marymount Lions. Not good.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

BACK UC IRVINE -2.5 (-110) laying the points for a much better value as opposed to backing it on the moneyline.

UCI is 3-2 ATS in the past 5 games, although it is coming off a 67-55 loss at Oregon State.

Belmont +2.5 (-110) is 3-1-1 ATS in the past 5 games, which is impressive, but it is just 2-2-1 ATS in 5 games against home against Division I teams.

Over/Under

OVER 152.5 (-115) might be the best play on the board in the Music City.

The Over has cashed in 5 straight games for the Bruins, with Belmont going for 82 or more points in each of the outings. The total has gone high in 8 of the past 9 games, too.

UC Irvine managed just 55 points in a loss at Oregon State last time out, but it did fill up the basket with 82 points in a win over Cal State Bakersfield prior to that one Dec. 5. Defensively, UCI allows just 60.3 PPG, while teams are hitting only 37.8% from the field against them. But, facing Belmont is a huge test, and perhaps the toughest of the season for UCI.
