Former South Alabama WR set to visit Texas A&M this weekend

It has been reported that former South Alabama wide receiver Caullin Lacy is set to visit Texas A&M this coming weekend.

Amid all the transfer portal chaos surrounding Texas A&M Football’s transition into the Mike Elko coaching era, and while several key players have already announced their intentions to depart, Elko has already begun to utilize the portal to add depth and starting talent on both sides of the ball.

After star quarterback Conner Weigman announced his return next season, veteran wide receiver Ainias Smith, who does have one year of collegiate eligibility remaining, is poised to enter the 2024 NFL Draft in the coming weeks, while the status of sophomore WR Evan Stewart remains in the balance.

However, after the hiring of new OC Colin Klein, Jimbo Fisher’s influence on the offense is gone for good and in the hands of a highly competent play-caller who had immense success in just two years as Kansas State made him one of the hottest names on the open market.

So, in need of more playmakers in the receiving core, it has been reported that former South Alabama wide receiver Caullin Lacy, who has received an offer from Elko, is set to visit Texas A&M this weekend from Friday to Sunday, coming his productive 2023 season ranked 5th in the country in receptions (91) and yards with 1,316, including seven touchdown receptions.

Standing at 5-10 190 pounds, Lacy is a versatile and experienced receiver who could instantly replace any lost production concerning Smith and Stewart’s future with the program. Lacy has gained interest from Louisville, Oregon, Auburn, and Mississippi State.

Texas A&M will hire Collin Klein as the program’s next offensive coordinator

It has been confirmed that Texas A&M will hired Collin Klein as the programs next offensive coordinater.

It has been confirmed that Texas A&M and head football coach Mike Elko will hire Kansas State offensive coordinator Collin Klein as the program’s new OC, which ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg confirmed on Wednesday morning.

Klein, who has spent the past two seasons with K State, has been on multiple teams radars this season, recently receiving OC offers at both Penn State and Notre Dame before Elko came calling.

So, what does the 34-year-old Klein bring to the the Aggies offense?

Focusing on the 2023 season, Kansas State (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) ranked 23rd in total offense, averaging 445 yards per contest. Even better, the Wildcats averaged nearly 38 points per game, good for 10th nationally.

What is even more important to note is that this was all done with less talent compared to A&M’s five-star factory led by quarterback Conner Weigman, who is poised to take the next step toward his incredible ceiling with the right OC calling plays and designing the offense.

This was a slam dunk move by Mike Elko as the first-year head coach continues to assemble his staff, and knowing the Aggies have finally found their play-caller for the future has to be a sigh of relief.

After four highly successful years as the starting QB at K State, choosing the headset has already paid in his young coaching career.

With plenty of names to go around for one of the more coveted coordinator jobs on the market, Collin Klein is undoubtedly the most intriguing.
