Four-star cornerback and Sooners target Cobey Sellers sets committment date

Four-star cornerback Corey Sellers has announced his commitment date. Set to choose between the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Pearland Shadow Creek four-star cornerback [autotag]Cobey Sellers[/autotag] is down to his top three and is ready to decide where he will play out his college career.

Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M all made the cut for the talented four-star corner. On Tuesday morning, Sellers announced via social media that his recruitment would end on May 11, when he decides between one of those three schools in a live commitment airing on the 247Sports YouTube Channel at 2 p.m.

This news is a bit of a shock to many following his recruitment.

Sellers had originally planned to announce his commitment in late July, but he seems ready to postpone it and turn his attention to his final high school season.

Two months ago, there were six schools in the mix. Oregon, Georgia, and LSU were eliminated from contention, but likely won’t give up recruiting the blue-chip prospect. All that remains is a familiar rivalry as Oklahoma competes with the two most significant football programs in Texas for a talented defensive back.

Sellers said this when asked by 247Sports about Oklahoma and the reasons they were a finalist.

I love everything they do and the family environment. Always making sure my family is good and everybody is good and bringing that love aspect to the game, which a lot of teams lost due to NIL, but I feel like they try their best to make everything equal and make all their players feel loved and wanted. Coach [Brent] Venables and coach [Jay] Valai are both great coaches and great developers and they’ve put multiple players in the league. – Sellers to 247Sports

Oklahoma has been in pursuit of Sellers since February of 2023. The Sooners have prioritized him since his recruitment took off. He has visited Norman multiple times, and the Sooners have a number of predictions in their favor. In short, the Sooners should feel good about where they sit as this commitment comes down the stretch.

Still, 12 days remain until a decision is finalized, so Brent Venables, Jay Valai, and the rest of the Oklahoma staff must close this one strongly.

Sooners land commitment from of 2025 four-star CB Courtland Guillory

Oklahoma continues their success on the recruiting trail landing a commitment from 2025 four-star cornerback Courtland Guillory.

Jay Valai has been a pretty productive recruiter during his time as the Sooners cornerbacks coach. He has recruited a number of four-star players to Norman, reshaping the cornerback depth chart in the process.

On Sunday, Valai nailed down another talented cornerback prospect. [autotag]Courtland Guillory[/autotag], a four-star cornerback from Klein Oak, Texas, announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners.

The talented corner chose the Sooners over Texas, Texas A&M and UCF.

Guillory is rated No. 364 overall in the[autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag]. The four-star also ranks as the No. 31 cornerback in the nation and a top-60 player in Texas.

He excels using his long frame to disrupt plays and clog throwing windows. He is 6-feet tall and uses every inch to his advantage. He’s a physical player for the position, and he looks to put a significant hit on the ball carrier. Guillory does a great job tracking the football in the air and times his attack well.

247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks believes he can improve his quick-twitch athleticism, which would help raise his ceiling as a player. He’s undoubtedly a high-major football player, and the Sooners will try to realize the rest of his potential,

Guillory has long been one of the top corners on Oklahoma’s board for 2025. Oklahoma offered in January and has been in the mix since. In recent weeks, a number of predictions favored the Sooners. Now he pledged to the Sooners, joining the No. 6 recruiting class in the nation.

He becomes the third defensive back to join the Sooners for 2025, along with[autotag]Marcus Wimberly[/autotag] and[autotag]Maliek Hawkins[/autotag]. Both committed earlier this spring. With Guillory in the fold, the Sooners turn their attention to defensive backs [autotag]Cobey Sellers[/autotag], [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag] and [autotag]Omarion Robinson[/autotag].

Oklahoma Sooners trending well for 4-star, top-125 2025 cornerback

The Sooners are hoping to keep their momentum for a 4-star cornerback from Texas

The Oklahoma Sooners and cornerback coach [autotag]Jay Valai[/autotag] have been putting in the work trying to build depth at the cornerback position with the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag]. The Sooners are expected to land four-star [autotag]Maliek Hawkins[/autotag] later on Wednesday but they are also right in the thick of it for another 4-Star cornerback.

[autotag]Cobey Sellers[/autotag] is from Pearland, TX, and is a top-125 recruit and a top-15 cornerback. The Sooners will have to fight off the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies to earn his commitment.

They seem to be well on their way to doing that, landing a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst, Mike Roach.

The Sooners currently hold a lead over both the Longhorns and Aggies, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Sellers doesn’t have a commitment date set just yet but the Sooners have been all of the momentum.

Four-star CB Cobey Sellers names top schools

Four-star cornerback prospect Cobey Sellers has an SEC-heavy top schools list

Four-star cornerback recruit Cobey Sellers has named his top six schools. Sellers is one of the country’s premier cornerbacks in the class of 2025.

The four-star is ranked as the nation’s No. 20 cornerback and the No. 26 recruit in Texas. Sellers is the No. 142 recruit in the country.

Cobey Sellers plays high school football for Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas. Pearland is located south of Houston. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback prospect is currently projected to commit to the Oklahoma Sooners, per 247Sports.

In Sellers’ tape, he does a good job of sticking with opposing wide receivers. He tracks the ball well and locates if before trying to make a play on the ball as opposed to the man.

The Shadow Creek superstar’s top six schools are Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, and Oregon. Sellers announced his top schools via social media:

Cobey Sellers is planning to graduate from high school in Dec. 2025, so he can enroll early at the next level. The four-star recently visited Georgia, Oregon, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Elite 2025 CB Cobey Sellers puts Oregon Ducks among top schools

The Oregon Ducks landed among the top schools for 4-star CB Cobey Sellers, who visited Eugene earlier this year.

The Oregon Ducks appear to be in a great spot to land an elite cornerback in the class of 2025, with 4-star CB Cobey Sellers recently announcing his top six schools including Dan Lanning and his group.

Sellers was on campus in Eugene earlier this year to check out the program and see what Lanning and his staff are building with the Ducks.

Sellers is rated by 247Sports as the No. 124 overall player in the class, and the No. 17 CB. He stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, and is rated as the No. 18 overall player in the state of Texas.

Oklahoma to host talented 2025 prospects for first Junior Day of new recruiting cycle

Oklahoma is hosting their first Junior Day for the Class of 2025. We’ve compiled a list of the expected or confirmed attendees.

Oklahoma’s recruiting has been borderline elite since Brent Venables took over as Norman’s head man. The three recruiting classes have been well-balanced from top to bottom. As the 2024 class begins to acclimate themselves as student-athletes on campus this month, the staff has pressed on and is looking ahead to the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

The 2025 class is a switch-up from the previous classes. If nothing else because the Sooners have a slew of commits already in the boat for 2025. In the last few years, Oklahoma has exploded onto the scene in the summer. Some early lifting and the byproduct of terrific relationships built over the last few years have already paid dividends for this staff. The Sooners already have nine commits for 2025.

Oklahoma will host its first Junior Day of the year Saturday in Norman, and we’ve done our best to compile a list of the names confirmed or expected to be in the building.

Oklahoma Sooners receive Rival Futurecast for 2025 four-star cornerback

The Oklahoma Sooners look to be in a favorable position for 2025 four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers.

The Oklahoma Sooners have had a strong start to the 2025 recruiting cycle, with nine players currently committed to the class. A lot of work has been done on the offensive side of the ball, but Oklahoma does have commitments from a pair of defensive line prospects in Ka’Mori Moore and Alexander Shieldknight, and an athlete projected to play outside linebacker, Marcus James.

Well, the Oklahoma Sooners look like they’re making headway for another defensive standout, four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers. Sellers is a top 150 player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports and On3, and a consensus top 30 player at his position across the board.

He’s a player that already has good size, standing 6-0 and weighing 170 pounds, and he plays like it. He’s a sticky-man corner that will play through the receiver at the catch point and helps in run support. He’s got the athleticism to play in both man and zone coverages and make plays on the ball in the air.

For Shadow Creek, Sellers also returned punts, and during his senior season, played quarterback.

He’s a good player who will be an important target to follow as the 2025 recruiting class takes center stage. Cornerbacks coach Jay Valai has done an excellent job building his depth chart and Sellers would be another excellent addition.

Sellers has a big-time offer sheet, including Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Penn State.

Oklahoma Sooners predicted to land 2025 4-Star cornerback

A prediction has been put in in favor of the Oklahoma Sooners for 4-Star 2025 cornerback.

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to hit the recruiting trail hard in the 2025 recruiting class. The Sooners currently have the No. 4 class in the country.

It feels like just about every week, Oklahoma is earning a new prediction for a 2025 recruit or a commit. On Friday night, they earned a commitment from EDGE rusher [autotag]Alexander Shieldnight[/autotag]. This time the Sooners received a prediction from On3 and SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuiston for four-star cornerback from Texas, Cobey Sellers.

Sellers is six feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. He’s a defensive back who is ranked as the No. 16 cornerback in the country. Sellers is also a top 250 overall recruit on every recruiting site and would be a big addition to [autotag]Jay Valai[/autotag]’s cornerback room.

Oklahoma is currently the favorite to land the talented cornerback with the Texas Longhorns, LSU Tigers, [autotag]Baylor Bears[/autotag] and [autotag]SMU Mustangs[/autotag] lurking. Oklahoma has an 89% chance of landing Sellers, according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine.

The Sooners currently have eight commits in 2025 already. With a top-five class in 2023 and trending toward another top 10 class in 2024, they have a chance to start stacking big-time classes ahead of their move to the SEC.

There is still a long way to go with Sellers, and he hasn’t set a commitment date, but there is no question the Sooners are off to a great start.

‘Future Freaks’ weekend set to be a massive recruiting event for Oklahoma’s present and future

Arguably the second biggest recruiting event of the calendar for Oklahoma will take place this week, with OU hosting its “Future Freaks” day.

Oklahoma has had some major recruiting in the month of March, but none seem as big as the one happening in Norman this weekend.

Officially dubbed “Future Freaks” weekend, Oklahoma plans to host exactly that. The Sooners will be welcoming more than 60 prospects over the next few recruiting classes in Norman.

Oklahoma’s been building momentum for recruiting since landing their top five composite class in 2023. While they have no commitments for 2024, the momentum is building.

Much like a volcano, it’s about to erupt. There’s a real chance the commitment party starts April 8 when Michael Hawkins, Oklahoma’s number one QB target in 2024, will make his commitment.

Oklahoma has plans to keep it pushing forward as they host many talented players this weekend. Here are the players they’ll be hosting over the next three recruiting classes in Norman this week.

Sooners next to offer 2025 QB KJ Lacey out of Alabama

Oklahoma joins Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina to offer 2025 QB KJ Lacey.

The University of Oklahoma has cast a wide net for their pursuit of a quarterback for the 2025 recruiting class. That net got a bit wider with the Sooners sending an offer to 2025 QB K.J. Lacey out of Saraland, Alabama.

Lacey is slight in size as he currently stands 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds. He is a dynamic player, though, with a good arm that he uses to push the ball downfield. He can also make throws on the run, showing off excellent accuracy outside the pocket.

Lacey looks to have the attention of some high-profile programs already. He has offers from Alabama, Florida State, and Tennessee in addition to his OU offer. He is the third QB offer the Sooners have sent out for the class of 2025, joining [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] and [autotag]Cobey Sellers[/autotag].
