Four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink commits to Texas A&M: ‘It checked all the boxes’

Landon Rink breaks down his commitment to Texas A&M.

Four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink committed to Texas A&M on Wednesday, giving the SEC program another strong in-state for their rebuild.

A 6-foot-2, 280-pound defensive lineman from Cy-Fair (Cypress, Texas), Rink is a four-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite. He held offers that included Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Kansas, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Penn State among others.

His Wednesday announcement for Texas A&M is another big win for a program that is looking to re-tool and rebuild in a hurry.

“I picked A&M because it was the best fit for me and it checked all the boxes'” Rink told USA TODAY High School Sports. “It feels like home because of the culture there and the proximity to home.”

Another key component in the Aggies winning out in Rink’s recruitment was the relationship with the staff. Rink cites the connection he formed with head coach Mike Elko and the new staff at Texas A&M.

For Rink, who had offers and was heavily recruited by some of the top programs in the nation, the bond formed with the Aggies staff proved important in landing his verbal.

“I love those guys – I have great relationships with coach Elko, coach ‘Chaos’ (defensive line assistant coach Sean Spencer), coach Tony (defensive line assistant coach Tony Jerod-Eddie), and coach Bateman (defensive coordinator Jay Bateman),” Rink said.

“They stand out to me because they have a real plan for me there and want to get the best out of me.”

Ohio State 2025 defensive end target will commit next week

The Buckeyes could steal another prospect from the state of Texas

One of Ohio State football’s top defensive line targets, 2025 Texan, [autotag]Landon Rink[/autotag], will make his commitment next Wednesday.

The Buckeyes are one of three schools that the 6-foot, 2-inch and 270-pound lineman will choose from, as he also has Texas A&M and Oklahoma as his other finalists. Rink is ranked as the No. 312 overall prospect and the 36th rated defensive lineman according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

What’s interesting about Rink’s timetable is that he has more than a few official visits set up after he makes his pledge. As of right now, it doesn’t look like Ohio State will be the pick with the 247Sports Crystal Ball is leaning towards A&M.

The good news is that one of those visit is set for Columbus at the end of May, but after that Rink has one scheduled for Texas A&M as well.

Sooners DL target Landon Rink sets commitment date, names top 3

The Oklahoma Sooners are battling with Texas A&M and Ohio State for 2025 four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink, who set his commitment date for April 3.

The Oklahoma Sooners had a historic [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag] and are hoping to add to that in their pursuit of 2025 defensive lineman [autotag]Landon Rink[/autotag].

Rink is a four-star prospect out of Cypress, Texas and is considered a top 15 defensive lineman by Rivals and ESPN. He holds offers from 35 Power Four programs across the country, including nine of the 16 SEC schools.

Rink told On3’s Chad Simmons that his top three schools are Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, and he plans to make his decision next week on April 3.

Link told On3, “I like Coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag]’ and Coach Bates’ plan for me and what they want to do with me when I’m there. Also, I like the relationship I have with them.”

The Sooners currently have just one defensive lineman committed in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag], Lee Summit North’s [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag]. But they could earn another pledge as Kole Briehler dropped his top three Wednesday morning including the Sooners.

The biggest challenge comes from local recruiting power, Texas A&M. Link’s hometown of Cypress is just over an hour away from College Station. If the Sooners are going to earn his commitment, they’ll have to go deep into the heart of Texas to do it.

Recruits react on Social Media to Junior Day weekend with Oklahoma Sooners

2025 prospects react on social media to their junior day weekend with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Sooners are off and running in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] with nine commitments as they turn the page on 2024.

Over the weekend, a number of Oklahoma’s 2025 targets made the trip to Norman for their annual junior day. It was an opportunity for the next class of prospects to meet with coaches, tour the facilities, and get a deeper look at Oklahoma football.

It has yielded positive reactions. The Sooners received a trio of Rivals Futurecasts for four-star running back Tory Blaylock and five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham included the Sooners in his top 12 after their visits.

But they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed their visits, here’s how other prospects reacted to their time with the Oklahoma Sooners over the weekend.

Oklahoma to host talented 2025 prospects for first Junior Day of new recruiting cycle

Oklahoma is hosting their first Junior Day for the Class of 2025. We’ve compiled a list of the expected or confirmed attendees.

Oklahoma’s recruiting has been borderline elite since Brent Venables took over as Norman’s head man. The three recruiting classes have been well-balanced from top to bottom. As the 2024 class begins to acclimate themselves as student-athletes on campus this month, the staff has pressed on and is looking ahead to the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

The 2025 class is a switch-up from the previous classes. If nothing else because the Sooners have a slew of commits already in the boat for 2025. In the last few years, Oklahoma has exploded onto the scene in the summer. Some early lifting and the byproduct of terrific relationships built over the last few years have already paid dividends for this staff. The Sooners already have nine commits for 2025.

Oklahoma will host its first Junior Day of the year Saturday in Norman, and we’ve done our best to compile a list of the names confirmed or expected to be in the building.

Ohio State offers 2025 Texas defensive lineman

Will another Lone Star state star head to Columbus? #GoBucks

With a well earned bye week for [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag], the coaching staff is going to hit the recruiting trail hard.

Multiple coaches were on the road, and [autotag]Landon Rink[/autotag], a 6-foot, 2-inch, 270-pound defensive end was offered a scholarship. The class of 2025 lineman already had multiple impressive offers which included Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Notre Dame.

The Buckeyes are the latest school to reach out with a scholarship to the No. 31 defensive lineman and 289th overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The offer list and rankings don’t quite line up, so it seems like when there is a re-rank of Rink’s class, he should see a move north.

At the current moment, Ohio State has just one commit for the 2025 cycle, quarterback Tavien St. Clair.
