WATCH: Deshaun Watson connects with Amari Cooper to take lead vs. Commanders

The Browns have re-taken the lead!

The Cleveland Browns have retaken the lead against the Washington Commanders. Finally taking advantage of a big stop defensively after wasting two Carson Wentz interceptions, quarterback Deshaun Watson connected with wide receiver Amari Cooper for a Cleveland touchdown. This was the first catch for Cooper on the afternoon as he picked up a massive chunk after the catch to house an intermediate throw.

Can the Browns continue to get after Wentz and force another turnover? Can the offense continue to show signs of life in the second half? The Browns are 24 minutes from their seventh win of the season in this one.

Browns Injury Alert: Tony Fields II enters medical tent vs. Commanders

The Browns might be down another linebacker

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbw33aqtym0ft0g player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

The Cleveland Browns have already placed their fifth linebacker on Injured Reserve this week in Jordan Kunaszyk, and now they may be down another as Tony Fields II has entered the medical tent against the Washington Commanders with a potential shoulder injury. They have not announced any status on Fields at this point.

Despite a long drive, the Browns have been able to get a couple of takeaways from Carson Wentz as both Denzel Ward and Grant Delpit have interceptions this afternoon. Losing another linebacker in Fields, however, would be a big blow for their unit with 25 minutes left to play.

WATCH: Grant Delpit comes away with second Carson Wentz pick vs. Commanders

The Browns have their second takeaway of the afternoon!

The Cleveland Browns have now intercepted Carson Wentz for the second time as Grant Delpit has come away with the pick. First, it was Denzel Ward who picked Wentz off, and now the Delpit gives the Browns their second turnover against the Commanders.

Delpit has come along quite nicely for the Browns over the back half of the season and has earned his keep in Cleveland. Some overhaul is needed on the defensive side of the football, but Delpit is here to stay as he has proven capable against the run and the pass for the Browns. The Browns currently lead 3-0 in the second quarter.

WATCH: Denzel Ward picks off Carson Wentz on opening drive

Denzel Ward comes away with a big turnover!

The Cleveland Browns are now up 3-0 against the Washington Commanders, and that is due to a massive takeaway from the defense. On their opening possession of the game, Commanders’ quarterback gifted cornerback Denzel Ward with an interception to give the Browns excellent field position.

The Browns have the advantage on paper, and they are off to an early lead against the Commanders. They will need to start scoring touchdowns instead of field goals, but they now force Washington to play from behind early in this one. Can the Browns close the season on a high note and pick up their seventh win of the season on New Year’s Day?

Browns announce 7 inactives, Jaelon Darden set to debut vs. Commanders

The Browns have announced their seven inactives as Jaelon Darden is set to make his debut

As the Cleveland Browns and Washington Commanders get set to go to battle on New Year’s Day, the away team has a slight advantage on paper. As the two sides get set for their matchup on the field, however, both teams have announced their inactives for the day. The Browns have announced their seven inactives, but not listed is wide receiver, Jaelon Darden. He is set to make his debut in the brown and orange after being claimed off of waivers a month ago.

Here are the seven inactives who will not dress for the Browns as they look to capture their seventh win on the season.

Jadeveon Clowney questionable, Jedrick Wills good to go vs. Commanders

The Browns have just one player with an injury designation.

The Cleveland Browns will enter their matchup with the Washington Commanders at near-full healthy as they only have one player with an injury designation. After missing last week with a concussion and part of this week with an illness, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is listed as questionable. Despite missing two practices this week, left tackle Jedrick Wills was not given an injury designation.

The Commanders will be without offensive lineman Saadiq Charles, running back Antonio Gibson, and defensive end James Smith-Williams on Sunday. Safeties Percy Butler and Kam Curl are questionable, along with cornerbacks Benjamin St-Juste and Christian Holmes as Carson Wentz and the Commanders prepare for the Browns.

Browns Injury report: Jedrick Wills misses second practice, James Hudson could start vs. Commanders

The Browns are trending toward a week without Jedrick Wills

The second injury report of the week has come out for the Cleveland Browns as they prepare for the Washington Commanders. On paper, they should be in line for their seventh win of the season, but the game is not played on paper as they still have to go out and take care of business in D.C. They may, however, be without their starting left tackle as Jedrick Wills has missed his second practice in as many days. If he cannot go, second-year player James Hudson would be in line for the start for the Browns.

Here is the full list of players who missed practice or were limited Thursday for the Browns.

How do the Browns stack up against the Commanders this weekend?

The Cleveland Browns can quiet a ton of outside noise by stacking two straight performances down the stretch against the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers. With highs around 60 in the nation’s capital this weekend the Browns and quarterback Deshaun Watson have an opportunity to finally break out offensively since his return from suspension.

Here we will take a look at the numbers on paper to see how this matchup of the Browns vs. Commanders stacks up. The two metrics used here are DVOA from Football Outsiders and EPA metrics. Can the Browns get back in the win column and stack a couple of games down the stretch of the season? Here is how they stack up against the Commanders as they travel to D.C.

DENVER BRONCOS +12 (-109) at Kansas City Chiefs – 1 p.m. (CBS)

The Broncos will get new life with a coaching change, which almost always brings extra focus in their 1st game.

The Broncos lost to the Chiefs by only 6 points earlier this season and 3 of the last 4 games between the 2 teams have been decided by single digits.

The Chiefs covered the spread at home for the 1st time last week against the Seahawks.

CLEVELAND BROWNS (+110) at Washington Commanders – 1 p.m. (FOX)

The Commanders are returning to QB Carson Wentz as the team has not won a game in the last month. The Commanders are 2-4 when he starts.

The Browns have lost 2 of their last 3 games but are only allowing opponents to score only 14.8 points per game in their last 5 contests.

The Commanders have not covered the spread in the last 3 weeks.

Dallas Cowboys at TENNESSEE TITANS +12.5 (-110) – Thursday 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video)

The Cowboys are a tough team to trust. It took overtime to beat the Eagles last week with backup QB Gardner Minshew playing. They have 5 wins of more than 12 points, but only 1 in the last 5 weeks.

The Titans have lost 5 games in a row and 2 have been by at least 14 points.

The Cowboys are 3-3 ATS on the road and the Titans are 3-4 ATS at home.

It’s just too many point to lay for the Cowboys.

The Browns saw one player return while a new starter missed practice with an injury.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to rebound after a disappointing performance against the New Orleans Saints on Christmas Eve. Now as they prepare for Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders, the Browns have some injuries to work through after Wednesday’s injury report was quite steep. While defensive end Jadeveon Clowney returned to practice, the Browns now may be without left tackle Jedrick Wills as he missed practice.

All-in-all, ten players appeared on Wednesday’s report for the Browns. Here is the full list of players who appeared on Wednesday’s injury report as the Browns get set to take on the Commanders.
