Aaron Rodgers hilariously signs off of The Pat McAfee Show with ‘Go Browns’

Aaron Rodgers is a Browns fan this weekend

The Cleveland Browns have an additional fan this weekend as they get set to take on Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders. Making his regular appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers signed off on the show with a hilarious nod to Cleveland, exiting with, “Go Browns.”

The Packers, of course, need the help of the Browns to make the playoffs this season as a loss by the Commanders would put them in a win-and-in situation in Week 18. Can the Browns help Rodgers and the Packers out this weekend? It sure would go a long way in smoothing over some tension between the team and the fanbase.

Carson Wentz will start at QB for Commanders vs. Browns

The Browns will get Carson Wentz.

The Washington Commanders will turn back to quarterback Carson Wentz as their starter this weekend as the Cleveland Browns travel to the nation’s capital. Benching Taylor Heinicke, the Browns and defensive coordinator Joe Woods, who will likely exit this offseason, have plenty of time to prepare for Wentz as they look for their seventh win of the season.

Their last game against Wentz, when he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, went quite well. Sione Takitaki intercepted a pass for a touchdown, and the Browns were able to bring home a win in 2020. They will be looking to repeat that performance this year.

The season is nearing the end and some of these games have immense importance while others do not matter at all. There are many scenarios this week in which teams will make the playoffs. So, make sure, especially this week and next, you find these things out before making any wagers. Teams with nothing to play for, usually don’t.

NFL Week 17: Let’s make some money parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated on Tuesday at 10:11 p.m. ET. All games Sunday and ET unless noted.

Leg 1: Colts at GIANTS -5 (-110) – 1 p.m. ET (CBS)

In the first leg of our parlay, I am going with not just a playoff play, but a play against a terrible Colts team.

Nick Foles is not a starting QB in the league. Especially behind a struggling offensive line and the Giants pass rush of DL Dexter Lawrence and DL Kayvon Thibodeaux will feast on Indianapolis. Jonathan Taylor is done for the season and the Colts are just attempting to get to the finish line at this point.

The Giants, on the other hand, will clinch a playoff berth with a win. RB Saquon Barkley is a leading contender for comeback player of the year and coach Brian Daboll has QB Daniel Jones playing at a 1st-round level after years of struggling.

The Giants are 11-4 against the spread (ATS) on the season, 2nd only to the Bengals in covering the spread. With all the motivation on its side, I expect New York to roll the Colts in this game.

Leg 2: PANTHERS -3 (-113) at Buccaneers – 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

QB Tom Brady is 45 years old and looking his age this season, but the comebacks are still there. Like last Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals in which he led the Buccaneers to a 19-16 overtime win. However the game should not have been so close. The Cardinals had QB Trace McSorley behind center and the team has been a scene of ultimate turmoil this season. The Buccaneers should have easily covered the 7-point spread. The fact they didn’t says a lot of what Tampa Bay is in 2022.

While the Panthers started slowing under coach Matt Rhule, the team has come alive since his departure and the trade of Christian McCaffrey to San Francisco. RBs D’Onta Foreman and Chuba Hubbard combined for 290 rushing yards against the Lions last Saturrday and the 570 total yards was a franchise record for Carolina. Coach Steve Wilks has the Panthers on the verge of a playoff berth. With a win against Tampa Bay and a win in Week 18 against the New Orleans Saints, they will earn a wild-card spot.

The 1st step is beating the Buccaneers, who are 3-point favorites and have only covered the spread in 3 of 15 previous games this season. I would also consider taking the Panthers +135 on the ML, but for our purposes I will take the safer play.

Leg 3: Bears at Lions OVER 52 (-112) – 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

The last meeting between these 2 teams was a 31-30 victory by the Lions at Soldier Field Nov. 13. QB Justin Fields has 1,011 rushing yards, but only managed 13 yards last Saturday against the Buffalo Bills in 2nd-coldest game in Bears’ home history with a game temperature of 6 and a wind chill of -12. This game will be inside cozy Ford Field and both the Bears and Lions will find this agreeable to a lot of points.

In a down offensive performance which saw QB Jared Goff lead the Lions with 15 rushing yards, Detroit still put up 23 points on Carolina. The Bears defense is just as bad as the Panthers and being at home, the Lions offense will do even more against them. The Bears and Fields will also be able to move the ball. RB Khalil Herbert is back with team, joining RB David Montgomery. The Bears will score with the run and the Lions will just score. I like the OVER 52 (-111) in this game.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $68.10 (profit $58.10).

Leg 4-*: BROWNS +110 ML at Commanders – 1 p.m. ET (FOX)

*-If you want to add a 4th play to this parlay:

Washington is playing for a playoff berth and needs to win. But the team has decided to return to QB Carson Wentz, which is where the trouble lies. QB Taylor Heinicke was playing solid football and leading the Commanders to wins. After some disappointing play against the No. 1 defense in the 49ers, coach Ron Rivera decided to sit him down and go back to Wentz for the rest of the season. We saw what Wentz can, or cannot do, early in the season and I expect the Browns have seen the same thing.

The Browns have had trouble scoring since QB Deshaun Watson returned to the lineup from suspension. They have only 1 offensive TD since he started  against Houston. But with RB Nick Chubb pounding the ball, I see another offensive TD or 2 coming for Cleveland. And with Wentz on the other side, this could be enough to get the victory as an underdog. This is a tricky game., but if you want to add a 4th leg and double your payout, this is a solid wager to add.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $143.00 (profit $133.00).
