COMMITTED: 4-star, top-200 EDGE CJ Jackson pledges to LSU

The Tigers picked up a couple of commitments in the wake of the big win over Auburn.

After a 48-18 beatdown at Tiger Stadium against Auburn on Saturday night, LSU landed a couple of recruits.

First came 2025 receiver [autotag]TaRon Francis[/autotag] on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning, LSU added another commitment in four-star 2024 edge rusher [autotag]CJ Jackson[/autotag].

Jackson, a native of Tucker, Georgia, ranks as the No. 193 player in the 2024 class and No. 14 edge rusher per the 247Sports Composite rankings. He previously committed to in-state Georgia Tech back in June shortly after an official visit to Baton Rouge, but he backed off that pledge on Oct. 5.

He took an unofficial visit this weekend, however, and that was enough to sway him. He had other visits planned for later this fall, per On3, but now those won’t be happening.

With Jackson’s commitment, LSU’s class now already features 25 players and ranks ninth nationally.

Recent 4-star Georgia Tech decommit has LSU near the top of his board

One of the most talented players in the 2024 recruiting class recently decommitted from Georgia Tech and has reopened his recruitment.

One of the most talented players in the 2024 recruiting class recently decommitted from Georgia Tech and has re-opened his recruitment. He now has a new list of schools at the top: LSU, Colorado, Auburn, Alabama and UCF.

[autotag]CJ Jackson[/autotag] is a 6-foot-5, 225-pound, four-star edge rusher from Tucker, Georgia, where he plays for Tucker High School. The Tucker Tigers are off to a 4-3 start to the 2023 season. All of their losses have occurred against non-region opponents, though, so they are still in good shape for playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Jackson, but Georgia is considered a 31% favorite to land him per On3. LSU is the second favorite at 22%. According to what he said his top five are and who his favorites are assumed to be, LSU may be the favorite.

LSU’s 2024 recruiting class currently has 24 commits and the class ranks as the No. 10 class in the country.

Auburn is one of the programs standing out to four-star edge CJ Jackson

He recently announced his decommitment from Georgia Tech.

[autotag]CJ Jackson[/autotag], one of the top edge players in the country, is back on the market after he decommitted from Georgia Tech on Oct. 5 and Auburn is one of several programs that are standing out to the Tucker, Georgia product

The Tigers offered him back in December 2022 but were never a major factor is his recruitment before he committed to the Yellow Jackets on June 25, 2023. It looks like they are making the most of their second chance as Jackson told On3’s Chad Simmons that they are one of five programs on his mind.

“I am going to hear everyone out, but the schools in mind now are LSU, Colorado, Alabama, UCF and Auburn.”

Jackson also provided a timeline for his commitment, saying he wants to commit by the middle of December but he is willing to commit sooner if he makes up his mind before then.

He is the No. 181 overall player and No. 14 edge rusher in the On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 24 player from Georgia.

Oklahoma 2024 prospects expected at ‘Party At The Palace’

Oklahoma set to host multiple 2024 recruits and commits for the Party at the Palace.

Oklahoma’s had a busy July to follow up a June full of official visits. July was about constructing their recruiting board for 2025 and 2026 as the 2024 class determines their future.

With so many Oklahoma targets for the 2024 recruiting class stopping by in June for official visits, it significantly decreased the likelihood that July would see nearly as much traffic. And while that may be true, this weekend’s Party at the Palace is still significant and a notable follow-up from Oklahoma’s ‘Sooners under the Sun’ underclassmen event that took place in the middle of the week. That event has already netted a pair of 2025 commitments from defensive tackle Ka’Mori Moore and four-star wide receiver Elijah Thomas.

For [autotag]Party at the Palace[/autotag], the 2024 class is back in the spotlight as more than 10 2024 prospects are expected to be in the building over the weekend. Several players are already committed, and the Sooners are hoping to use the event to move the needle with their uncommitted players. We took the liberty of highlighting who has been confirmed to be in Norman for the event.

Oklahoma will have the luxury of having multiple 2024 commits in the building to help with their recruiting efforts. [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] and [autotag]Isaiah Autry[/autotag] can help with the recruitment of three-star offensive lineman [autotag]Josh Aisosa[/autotag] and four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Grant Brix[/autotag]. Defensively, Jaydan Hardy can help with the recruitments of [autotag]Eli Bowen[/autotag], [autotag]C.J. Jackson[/autotag], and [autotag]Michael Boganowski[/autotag] and get in the ear of three-star safety [autotag]Mykel Patterson-McDonald[/autotag], who plans to announce his commitment on July 31st. He’ll be deciding between Oklahoma, Houston, and UNLV.

In-state talent [autotag]Danny Okoye[/autotag] has had a compelling recruitment. He’s been offered by some of college football’s elite, including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State. With Oklahoma still looking to build a historic class along the defensive line, knocking this visit out of the park would help go a long way.

Party at the Palace could provide the last springboard Oklahoma needs to help solidify its place in the recruitments of several 2024 guys as prospects prepare to lock in for their final high school seasons. This event also marks the last major recruiting event of the offseason for Oklahoma. The calendar gives way to fall camp in preparation for the [autotag]2023 college football season[/autotag].

LSU offers 2024 EDGE from Georgia

Jackson isn’t rated by any of the major recruiting sites, but that hasn’t kept him from picking up offers.

[autotag]CJ Jackson[/autotag] is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound edge rusher in the class of 2024. He is from Tucker, Georgia, where he plays for Tucker High School. The Tigers finished the 2022 season 4-7 with a loss to Northside in the first round of the GHSA 5A playoffs.

Jackson currently has no Crystal Ball projections on 247sports and no favorites per On3.

Film Analysis: Jackson is a guy that is flying under the radar on recruiting sites. He doesn’t have any stars on any of the four major sites, but that hasn’t prevented him from getting offers. He holds multiple Division I offers and you can see why in his film. He is very quick off the line of scrimmage and wreaks havoc in opposing backfields.

Michigan State football offers rising 2024 linebacker CJ Jackson

The unranked linebacker has gotten some major attention for his recruitment lately

A few months ago, CJ Jackson was unranked, unheralded, and relatively unknown. Then, an offer came in from Georgia seemingly out of nowhere. Then, Clemson got involved. Now, teams like Ole Miss and Texas A&M are joining the party, and Michigan State football is also throwing their hat in the ring for the recruitment of Jackson, who they offered on Monday.
