Four members of the Crimson Tide to play in 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl

2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl to include four former members of the Crimson Tide.

Outside of the NFL Combine, there is no tool that better helps prepare players for the draft than the Reese’s Senior Bowl. The annual game, held in Mobile, AL, is only for seniors, though, so no underclassman who declared for the draft early can participate. It’s a rare opportunity for the draft prospects as they get to spend a week practicing on the field with NFL coaching staff and personnel evaluating them.

Over the years, the Alabama Crimson Tide has become quite familiar with the Senior Bowl due to the game being in the Tide’s home state, as well as the numerous players that Nick Saban sent to the week-long event. This year’s crop of Crimson Tide standouts will include QB Jalen Milroe, TE C.J. Dippre, DL Tim Smith, and P James Burnip.

Milroe will be the wild card pick, as some projections have him going as high as No. 3 overall and as low as the end of the second round. However, the other three are likely going to be third-day draft picks and this week of practice could have a massive impact on their draft stock.

Last year, South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler was named the MVP of the camp. No former Alabama player has been named an MVP since RB Paul Ott Carruth won in 1985.

This year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl will take place this Saturday on the NFL Network at 1:30 p.m. CST.

Alabama tight end CJ Dippre releases farewell to Crimson Tide

Alabama tight end CJ Dippre releases farewell to the Crimson Tide program.

While the Alabama Crimson Tide are awaiting NFL draft decisions from a few underclassmen in particular, there are also other players who have now exhausted their remaining eligibility, meaning that they will not return next year regardless.

One of those players is senior tight end CJ Dippre, who played his final game for the Crimson Tide in the ReliaQuest Bowl after two seasons at Alabama. Dippre also took to social media Wednesday to write his farewell to Alabama in a statement, which can be found below.

Originally beginning his collegiate career at Maryland, Dippre transferred to Alabama prior to the 2023 season, and concluded his time with the Crimson Tide with a final stat line of 32 receptions for 443 yards. Alabama’s primary pass catching tight end, Dippre is also coming off a year in which he had 21 receptions for 256 yards.

Looking ahead, Dippre will enter the 2025 NFL draft where he projects as either a late round pick or an undrafted free agent signing.

Alabama tight end CJ Dippre named to Mackey Award watch list

The Crimson Tide have never won the Mackey Award.

An award that the Alabama Crimson Tide have never won, the program saw tight end CJ Dippre named to the 2024 Mackey Award preseason watch list this past Friday.

The award is presented annually to the most outstanding tight end in college football.

Dippre, a senior, is entering his second season in Tuscaloosa this fall after having transferred from Maryland prior to the 2023 fall campaign. A year ago, Dippre played a prominent role in Alabama’s tight end room, catching 11 passes for 187 yards.

Prior to Alabama, Dippre had a combined 33 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns during his time at Maryland. This included a career-best 2022 season in which he had 30 receptions for 314 yards and three scores.

Dippre is now expected to be arguably the top name in what is a deep tight end room for the Crimson Tide this season, featuring alongside the likes of Robbie Ouzts, Washington transfer Josh Cuevas, and more.

Projecting which Alabama players will turn pro and which players will return to school

When the season comes to an end, several Alabama players will have to decide whether to go pro or return to school. See who we predict to declare and come back.

Every year, the Alabama football program has roster turnover. Some players elect to enter the NFL draft. Others either elect to return to school or enter the transfer portal.

For upperclassmen, the usual option is to go pro or return to school. In the past, multiple players have increased their stock by returning to Alabama instead of declaring early. Several that come to mind are Reuben Foster, Rashaan Evans, and Najee Harris. Several who entered the draft early and likely would have benefitted from coming back were Adrian Hubbard, Saivion Smith, and Deionte Thompson.

With Alabama’s season ending in less than a month, a handful of players will be tasked with making critical decisions for their future.

Roll Tide Wire projects which Alabama players will turn pro and which players will choose to return to school.

Nick Saban provides update on two injuries suffered in Week 7

Alabama football head coach Nick Saban provides key injury updates after Week 7.

In Week 7, Alabama defeated Arkansas 24-21 to improve to 6-1 on the season. Despite Alabama’s record in conference play remaining unscaved, that was not the case for several players.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke with the media following the win on Saturday afternoon. Saban had the following to say about the injury statuses of starting linebacker Trezmen Marshall and starting tight end CJ Dippre:

“I don’t think they’re badly hurt. One guy has a pulled muscle. The other guy’s got bruised ribs. I can’t tell you the extent of those injuries”

Clearly, Saban did not clarify as to which player suffered which injury. However, he did sound hopeful that both would be able to return sooner rather than later.

Marshall has been a key piece to Alabama’s defense this season. Through the first seven games of the season, he has tallied 40 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.

As for Dippre, he has contributed more as a run-blocker than a pass-catcher. Nonetheless, he has reeled in five receptions for 104 yards on the season.

It will be interesting to hear more information on each of their statuses heading into Alabama’s Week 8 matchup versus Tennessee.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the latest regarding the Alabama football program.

Transfer Portal: How Alabama’s portal additions fit in with the Tide

A closer look at Alabama football’s transfer portal additions!

Like it or not, the transfer portal has consumed college athletics. The portal seems to be in a constant state of disorder and confusion and this chaos has turned into the new normal for all of those involved.

Even for a program with deep roots and consistent excellence like Nick Saban has built at Alabama, the transfer portal does not discriminate and it has had its effects on the Crimson Tide.

Since the end of the 2022 regular season, Alabama has had a total of 16 scholarship players enter the portal. On the flip side, the Crimson Tide has brought in a total of five players from out of the portal.

With all of the roster turnover, I thought it would be a good time to quickly go over each addition that Alabama has made this offseason from the transfer portal!
