Eagles’ top-30 visits can offer a glimpse into Howie Roseman’s draft plans

With three weeks to go until the 2023 NFL Draft, we’re breaking down the Eagles’ top 30 visits and how that’ll play into Howie Roseman’s draft plans

The NFL draft is fast approaching, and the 2023 influx of talent comes at a reasonable time after a mass exodus of free agents on defense.

Only a tiny percentage of this incoming class will make their mark on the league as a rookie.

With Philadelphia set to sign Jalen Hurts to a massive deal, GM Howie Roseman needs all his picks to deliver the goods immediately.

With the draft just three weeks out, we’re taking a closer look at the Eagles’ predraft visits and whether they offer a glimpse into what Howie Roseman has in store.

Each NFL team can meet with 30 top prospects on their draft boards.

The players you see visiting respective team facilities can help outline organizational needs or serious interests.

Philadelphia has two first-round picks, and they’ve embraced the process, bringing in a host of top names that’ll be selected up and down the draft board.

15 prospects to watch if the Eagles trade down in the 2023 NFL draft

We’re looking at 15 prospects to watch if the Philadelphia Eagles trade down in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The 2023 NFL draft is fast approaching, and even with the Eagles retooling during the first wave of free agency, the organization is doing its due diligence on potential prospects.

Thanks to some draft night moving and shaking from Howie Roseman, the Eagles traded the No. 16 overall pick, No. 19 overall pick, and a 2022 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for the No. 18 overall pick, a 2022 third-round pick, a 2022 seventh-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2024 second-round pick.

Philadelphia is slotted to have just six picks, and the Eagles’ GM could look to add more assets by trading down from the 10th pick or No. 30 overall.

With the selection process just three weeks away, we’re looking at 15 prospects to watch if the Birds trade down.

3 players who could entice Jaguars to trade up in 2023 NFL Draft

Trent Baalke says he probably won’t make a big trade in the first round, but these players could give him pause.

In two drafts as general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Trent Baalke has negotiated just three trades. One was a jump six spots up the draft order last year to pick a second time in the first round and snag linebacker Devin Lloyd.

“I’m not going to divulge the board, but obviously this was a draft where there was a certain number of guys that we had graded above the line and we were getting to the point where we needed to make a move,” Baalke explained last year after making the trade for Lloyd, via Jaguar Report.

This year, a trade seems less likely. With almost all of the Jaguars’ starting lineup from 2022 returning for the 2023 season, the focus of the offseason has been on patiently accruing young talent rather than swinging for the fences.

“I don’t know that we’re going to be big movers and try to trade way up in the draft,” Baalke said in February at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. “Will we move a little bit? We could, but it really depends on how the board gets stacked.”

It would probably take a special player sliding into the Jaguars’ reach for a trade to happen. Here are three prospects from the 2023 NFL Draft who could entice Baalke to make a deal after all:

2023 NFL Mock Draft: Kevin Fielder’s Mock Draft 4.0

The fourth mock draft from Kevin Fielder has Will Levis falling down the board with the Cardinals trading up for Bijan Robinson.

It’s the final countdown…

That is both a lyric to the hit song Doghouse by Europe and the current reality of the NFL Draft. After a long pre-draft process, NFL teams are beginning to finalize their draft boards and prepare for situations that may arise during the three-day event.

It’s also an opportunity for writers like myself to give people one more mock draft. Like my other mock drafts, this one is meant to explore possibilities and is not guaranteed to go 31-for-31 on draft night. Like the others, it also includes trades but does not include compensation.

For housekeeping purposes, this mock draft also assumes two major storylines: Aaron Rodgers heads to the New York Jets, and Lamar Jackson remains with the Baltimore Ravens.

The first one seems like a guarantee, but there is still a possibility that Rodgers does not become a Jet. The second one is murkier, but there hasn’t been enough news released to assume that he is on the move this season. As a result, Jackson remains in Baltimore for at least next season.

With that being said, let’s mock.

Looking at the top 10 potential targets for the Eagles at No. 10 overall in NFL draft

We’re looking at the top ten potential draft targets for the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 10 overall pick.

The 2023 NFL draft is fast approaching, and after a few first wave moves, Philadelphia appears locked in on adding pass rushers and offensive linemen.

Thanks to some draft night wizardry from Howie Roseman, the Eagles traded the No. 16 overall pick, No. 19 overall pick, and a 2022 sixth-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for the No. 18 overall pick, a 2022 third-round pick, a 2022 seventh-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2024 second-round pick.

Philadelphia has a Super Bowl-caliber offense and needs to reload on defense.

We’re looking at the top ten players that’ll likely be the target for Howie Roseman and the Eagles at No. 10 overall.

VIDEO: What should the Seattle Seahawks do with their two first-round picks?

Doug Farrar and Kyle Madson put on their GM hats, and determine what the Seattle Seahawks should do with their two first-round picks in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Seattle Seahawks have the fifth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft as part of the Russell Wilson trade, and the 20th overall pick on their own. General manager John Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll haven’t had a draft haul like this since 2010, when they selected tackle Russell Okung and safety Earl Thomas with the sixth and 14th picks, and that went pretty well.

Here, Doug Farrar and Kyle Madson put on their Seahawks GM hats and try to figure out what Seattle’s brain trust should do with those picks.

Doug: Defense, defense, defense. I can see the logic in Seattle taking a receiver to work with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, but they have a boatload of picks in this draft because of the Wilson trade, and it’s a very deep receiver class, so they can get that done later. Jalen Carter will probably be there at five, and the Seahawks could absolutely use him along their defensive line, but I asked both Carroll and Schneider at the combine why their 2022 draft was so much better than the 5-6 classes before, and they both responded with the importance of getting guys who had no issues getting onto the field right away with the right mentality as opposed to betting on pure talent and not doing due diligence with the off-field stuff. So, I’m not sure they want to take that risk, even though Carter is the best overall player in this class based on his tape.

In my latest mock, I have Seattle taking Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez with the fifth pick, and Pitt defensive lineman Calijah Kancey with the 20th. Both players have reams of ridiculous tape, and both blew up their combine drills, proving once again that there aren’t any issues above the neck. They are both plug-and-play players, and both could help set Seattle back on a Legion of Boom path.

Kyle: Two things here.

ONE: Shoutout to the Seahawks for not needing offensive line help in the first round.

TWO: They may not take a running back with either pick. I will not allow it. I don’t care if Bijan Robinson is there at 20. Someone take away Pete Carroll’s controller if he tries doing this.

But yeah, it’s hard to argue with a defense-heavy look here. Gonzalez would pair really nicely with Tariq Woolen, and I think Pete Carroll would have some fun utilizing Kancey’s athleticism. Myles Murphy from Clemson is another player I could see Carroll really liking. He’s not an edge rusher in the traditional sense, but I think he’s gonna be a player who finds a home as an edge setter on base downs and an interior pass rusher in sub packages.

HOWEVER, if something weird happens and Bryce Young falls to No. 5 – that has to be the pick unless a team is dying to move up for him in which case trade back and go to town. I think Young is the only offensive player that makes real sense for Seattle. Maybe if Smith-Njigba gets to 20 then it’s just a matter of taking the best player available, but I’d be pretty surprised if the Seahawks aren’t leaving Day 1 with a pair of defenders.

Commanders land Oregon star in NFL.com’s analytics-based mock draft

This would be a steal for the Commanders.

Cynthia Frelund of NFL.com recently revealed her second mock draft of draft season. Frelund’s mock drafts are different than many of the ones we see.

Instead of just lining up needs and who is available, Frelund, NFL.com’s analytics expert, has a specific model she uses to project draft prospects to NFL teams. Her model pairs prospects with teams based on optimizing wins for the upcoming season only.

The early part of Frelund’s new mock draft featured no surprise. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud goes No. 1 to Carolina, with Bryce Young [Texans], Will Anderson Jr. [Cardinals], Anthony Richardson [Colts] and Tyree Wilson [Seahawks].

It’s at No. 6 where Frelund begins to shake things up as Pittsburgh defensive tackle Calijah Kancy lands with the Detroit Lions.

When it came time for the Washington Commanders at No. 16, Frelund gave them a cornerback. That cornerback is Christian Gonzalez of Oregon, whom many believe is this draft’s top defensive back prospect.

Sticking with Gonzalez here. His skill set should help a secondary that needs to increase its turnover production.

Gonzalez is a player many have going in the top 10 of mock drafts. Therefore, it would be a surprise to see him fall to No. 16. Frelund has Gonzalez as the second cornerback off the board behind Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon at No. 14.

Gonzalez has everything NFL teams covet in a No. 1 cornerback. His combination of size, length, athleticism and experience make him an exciting prospect.
