3 Georgia freshmen named to the All-SEC Freshman Team

Three UGA freshmen selected to the SEC All-Freshman Team including Georgia running back Nate Frazier

Three Georgia Bulldogs freshmen earned spots on the 2024 SEC All-Freshman Team. Running back Nate Frazier represented the Bulldogs’ offense, while linebacker Chris Cole and safety KJ Bolden were honored for their performances on defense.

As top-50 prospects in high school, the trio of UGA selections come as no surprise. Bolden and Cole appeared in every game for Georgia this season. Cole primarily contributed on special teams but saw limited action at linebacker, stepping in when Smael Mondon was sidelined with an injury. Cole has 16 tackles and two fumble returns this season.

Bolden emerged as a key player in the Georgia secondary, making one start and finishing sixth on the team in snaps. Bolden has recorded 54 tackles, one sack and one interceptions this season.

Meanwhile, Frazier became a crucial part of Georgia’s run game late in the season, scoring touchdowns in each of the final five regular-season games. Frazier has a team-high 129 carries for 634 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season.

The selection of the three Bulldogs to the All-Freshman Team follows a conference-leading 13 Georgia players earning All-SEC honors earlier this week. The future is bright with this young trio leading the way for Georgia football.

5-star freshman stepping up for the Georgia Bulldogs

Five-star UGA football freshman (not KJ Bolden) has been answering almost every test that has been thrown his way.

In the Georgia Bulldogs defense, two freshman have come into their own these past few weeks and made big impacts in key moments.

Freshman safety KJ Bolden has become one of the highlights in this secondary since the beginning of the season by making a crucial stop against Clemson. The former five-star recorded his first career interception against Mississippi State and recently made several plays against the Texas Longhorns, who are now ranked fifth.

Bolden will have a big role against Florida given the first-half suspensions for safety Dan Jackson and slot cornerback Joenel Aguero.

Freshman linebacker Chris Cole also has seen meaningful snaps due to an injury to Smael Mondon. Cole earned a five-star ranking per ESPN.

Cole was considered a project for this season that would hopefully find his way onto the field later in the season. However, that time is now. Cole is making an immediate impact in pass coverage.

In Tuesday’s press conference, coach Kirby Smart had high praise for Cole.

“First off, if you want to say the player that’s made one of the biggest jumps, going back to your question, Chris Cole has made from the time he arrived to now, he has improved immensely.” Smart said. “Chris has put himself in a position because he has really elite speed and flexibility to be able to cover and he’s got great length.”

We saw that speed and his coverage ability when he broke up a pass attempt to Texas Longhorn tight end Gunnar Helm that almost turned into an interception. We saw that improvement where it seems as the transition has been seamless with Mondon being out and plugging Cole into play primarily in passing situations. With the way Cole has been playing it will be hard to keep him off the field when Smael Mondon nears a return.

Georgia football signee bumped to 5-star status

Georgia football signee bumped to 5-star status in final recruiting rankings update

2024 Georgia signee Chris Cole earned a five-star ranking from 247Sports in its final recruiting rankings for the cycle.

The athletic linebacker signed with the Bulldogs in December as a four-star recruit out of Salem High School (Virginia). However, now he has been bumped up to a five-star ranking. Cole was the No. 3 linebacker, the No. 1 player in Virginia and the No. 23 recruit overall in his class.

Cole, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound linebacker, is the No. 3 ranked linebacker in the 2024 class and could make an impact immediately with several linebackers entering the portal. Cole committed to the Bulldogs in September and hasn’t visited any other school

He made a transition from defensive back to linebacker in his junior year in high school. He has the speed to play at linebacker, but will likely need to put on weight consistently get off blocks. He has a good feel for tackling angles and he doesn’t often get caught looking in the backfield.

Football runs in the family as his uncle is Rohan Marley, who played linebacker for Miami in the early 90s. Marley’s son and Cole’s cousin, Nico, also played linebacker at Tulane.

Cole will be fighting for playing time alongside fellow recruits Justin Williams and Kristopher Jones.
