Prediction

Kings 109, Bulls 101

Moneyline (ML)

After dropping their first three home games, the Kings have won their last five, though by an average of less than 3.5 points per game. Their defense has been key in the turnaround, with Sacramento surrendering 101 or fewer points in four of the wins — including holding Denver to 97 points in an overtime win Saturday.

The Bulls are 6-14 overall on the season and 3-7 on the road.

Sacramento is giving less than a 50-percent profit on the moneyline, but nonetheless take the KINGS (-223).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Sacramento to win outright would profit $4.48.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Kings are 5-3 at home ATS and 12-8 overall on the season (+0.1 points per game above projection). Meanwhile, Chicago is 4-6 on the road while allowing 1.6 points per game below the cover line. This becomes a razor-thin pick but the idea is that Sacramento can carry the pace of play a bit better than can Chicago.

Back SACRAMENTO (-4.5, -125) to win by five or more points Monday, delivering a much more attractive $8 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 210.5 (-121 on the over, 100 on the under). Chicago and Sacramento may come extremely close to this number, making this a 50-50 coin flip. Even our predicted score marks the two teams for a combined 210 points. Since this could truly go either way, we recommend a PASS here.

Prediction

Warriors 116, Bulls 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Warriors have lost 15 of their first 18 games. Yes, they have a pile of injuries and have won only once this year at home, but Chicago (-143) has won only once in four tries versus the Western Conference.

Our pick is with the WARRIORS (+120), albeit with a fair amount of risk.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Warriors returns a profit of $12 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Golden State is 3-5 against the spread at home and has split the cover over the last four contests. Chicago is 3-5 on the road. Both teams fall below the cover line as well with some heavier movement on the Golden State side of the ledger.

Pick GOLDEN STATE (+1.5, +105). Taking the Warriors outright means going all the way and giving them the nod against the spread also. This bet returns a $10.50 profit on a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 216.5. Golden State puts up 107.6 points per game and the Bulls average 107.1 PPG. Take the OVER (-115) with sloppy defensive play boosting the total score.

Zach LaVine’s insane 3-pointer (his 13th!) ends frantic Bulls comeback

This comes after the Bulls coach benched and openly criticized Zach LaVine.

Zach LaVine faced tremendous scrutiny heading into the Chicago Bulls’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night. Bulls coach Jim Boylen benched LaVine on Friday for making “egregious” defensive errors on Friday. LaVine’s performance on Saturday changed the conversation.

He scored a franchise-record 13 3-pointers, with the 13th coming at the buzzer for the win. The Hornets needed to in bound the ball with seven seconds left. That’s when Bulls guard Ryan Arcidiacono knocked the ball free from Hornets guard Devonte’ Graham under the hoop, and LaVine grabbed it off the court. He then frantically ran to the 3-point line to set up a fading shot. The Bulls won, 126-125. LaVine could  have scored a field goal to tie it — but he boldly took a challenging shot to take the lead.

LaVine had 49 points on the night while shooting 17 of 28 from the field and 13 of 17 from the 3-point line. That final 3-point play left the folks in Charlotte in a bad place. Their record falls to 6-11.

Here’s the call from the Hornets’ broadcast.

It was an impressive and desperate finish for LaVine and the Bulls, who have the same record as Charlotte at 6-11. Maybe Boylen should show LaVine some tough love more often.

Here is why the Bulls could make sense in trade for Danilo Gallinari

A proposed trade between OKC and Chicago could send Gallinari to the Bulls in exchange for Otto Porter, Denzel Valentine, and Luke Kornet.

Almost from the moment that Oklahoma City traded away Paul George and Russell Westbrook, the trade talk surrounding the Thunder was when and where OKC was going to move Chris Paul.

But as the season has progressed, there’s a different name that’s being mentioned with increasing frequency – Danilo Gallinari.

Gallo has been a consistent presence in the Thunder’s lineup through the first 14 games, averaging 19.1 points and shooting 44.5% from the field.

And at 31, Gallinari is three years younger than Paul and his contract, while complicated, isn’t quite as difficult to offload.

Gallo has previously been suggested as a possible candidate in a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The newest team that’s been mentioned in conjunction with the 31-year-old is the Chicago Bulls.

Per Fansided’s Pippen Ain’t Easy, the Bulls would propose a trade package of Otto Porter Jr., Denzel Valentine, and Luke Kornet for Gallinari, Terrance Ferguson, and Darius Bazley.

“And what this helps for the Thunder in return from the Bulls is a much-needed two-way wing with Porter Jr. and a strong spot-up three-point shooting presence with fourth-year shooting guard Denzel Valentine. If the Thunder still manage to stay in playoff contention in the Western Conference through the midpoint of the regular season, then a trade like this could make sense.”

As noted by JB Baruelo of Inquisitr, Porter is “clearly an upgrade for Ferguson in the Thunder’s win rotation”.

Through nine games, Porter Jr. is averaging 11.2 points, down from his career-high of 17.5 during the 2018-2019 season. That number, however, is still higher than Ferguson, who is averaging just 5.2 in 25.2 minutes per game.

Nets taking ‘next man up’ approach with Kyrie Irving, Caris LeVert injured

Spencer Dinwiddie took over for the Nets in the win over the Bulls. Jarrett Allen did the same on Wednesday against the Hornets.

Every win is important in the NBA, but with Brooklyn’s slow start to the 2019-20 season, there’s an extra sense of urgency for the Nets.

Things didn’t get easier when they lost Caris LeVert due to the damaged ligaments in his right thumb, which led to surgery. Then pull Kyrie Irving out of the lineup for three games (right shoulder impingement) and the Nets have all hands on deck.

Spencer Dinwiddie has been the one constant for the Nets during this stretch, which was part of the problem for Brooklyn on Monday. In the two wins — Chicago Bulls on Saturday and Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday — multiple Nets have stepped up.

On Wednesday, Taurean Prince (20 points and eight rebounds), DeAndre Jordan (14 points and seven rebounds) and, most of all, Jarrett Allen (22 points and 17 rebounds) played well, in addition to Dinwiddie (20 points, eight assists).

Following the win, Allen expressed Brooklyn’s approach without Irving and LeVert to YES Network’s Michael Grady:

It’s been a slow process. Ya know, having Caris and Kyrie out, it’s a little tough. But at the end of the day, it’s next man up and we’ show that tonight.

Additionally, the Nets have talked about both their chemistry and energy as being problems to start the season. Allen told Grady the Nets were able to address one of those issues.

Consistent energy. We came out in the third quarter, playing hard, and we took it to the fourth.

Prediction

Bulls 106, Pistons 103

Moneyline (ML)

The -115 line for the BULLS is not a hard one to take even without the presence of Porter inside.

This may be one of Chicago’s best chances to its losing streak. Detroit is 3-7 in its last 10 games and losers of four straight contests.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bulls to win outright returns a profit of $8.70.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The value play for this game is taking the BULLS with the -1.5 points at -106 odds. A Chicago cover (win by two or more points) returns a greater profit of $9.43.

Chicago is only 3-4 against the spread at home but Detroit is worse on the road. Detroit is 1-5-1 away from home ATS.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean slightly to the UNDER 220.5 (-115). Chicago plays a little more stout on defense and slows down a bit at home. It may be just enough to keep Detroit from scoring 110 points and makes the Under an easier proposition.

Prediction

Bucks 117, Bulls 106

Moneyline (ML)

The -304 line for the BUCKS is not an easy one to stomach but Chicago’s interior, without Porter, is problematic and Milwaukee should be able to expose that.

Can Chicago keep up with Milwaukee’s pace? The answer is likely no if Milwaukee shoots anywhere close to 50%. The Bulls have lost their last four meetings with the Bucks and the final three were by nine or more points. Milwaukee is 6-2 on the road while covering at plus-4.8 points per game above the projections.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bucks to win outright returns a profit of $3.29.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The value play for this game is taking the BUCKS with the -7.5 points at -106 odds. A Milwaukee cover (win by eight or more points) returns a greater profit of $9.43.

Milwaukee is only 4-4 against the spread on the road but again a good bit above projections and has won six of its last seven away from Milwaukee. The Bulls struggle mightily at home, where they are 3-3 ATS but fall an average of 5.5 points per game below projections.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean slightly to the UNDER 230.5 (-115). Chicago plays a little more stout on defense and slows down a bit at home. It may be just enough to keep Milwaukee from scoring 120 and making the under an easier proposition Monday.

Kenny Atkinson may have found a way to replace his Dennis Scott sign

Kenny Atkinson broke out his famous sign in the Brooklyn Nets win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Kenny Atkinson is very much down to business when it comes to his job. It’s part of the reason Brooklyn became a destination for Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. The Nets head coach developed a hard-working culture on the backs of Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, Jarrett Allen and others.

So when Kenny Atkinson first unleashed his Dennis Scott sign on the sideline against the Houston Rockets back on November 1, he caught everyone off guard. It’s unconventional to see a cue card on a basketball sideline. For Atkinson to be the one to utilize the college football-like tactic made the occurrence even more bizarre.

On Saturday, Atkinson’s card made an appearance again, though when he met with reporters in Chicago after the win, it was noted he didn’t show off the card like he had previously.

Atkinson reiterated the point of the sign to reporters, but also indicated he may search for a new way to get his message across:

I think after the last [time with] people making fun of me on Twitter and stuff I wanted to be a little more discrete. So, maybe I’ll wear, like, a t-shirt and have it underneath. Yeah, I don’t wanna make a big deal. It’s more about our coverages and helping our guys communicate. It’s definitely not a publicity stunt.

Nets ready to be back at Barclays Center

The Brooklyn Nets finished the road trip 2-3, bouncing back from a three-game skid mid-trip with a win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

The last five games have not been easy for the Brooklyn Nets. After winning a tough contest against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers to start the trip, the Nets were unable to pull off a win over the next three games, falling to the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets.

But Brooklyn was able to salvage a win in their final game of the trip, knocking off the Chicago Bulls 117-111 on Saturday.

While Joe Harris stressed the importance of the win to YES Network after the game, he made sure to point out he and his teammates are ready to head home:

Anytime you can finish up a road trip in this manner, [it’s] just great for moment, confidence. Ya know, it’s nice that we’re gonna be back at home, have a little bit of a homestand. But, ultimately, to finish the road trip with a win is huge.

Dzanan Musa, who tied for a team-high seven rebounds in the win, took to Twitter to let Nets Fans know he’s also ready to play a home game again after being away for so long.
