The Philadelphia 76ers have brought in Darius Bazley on a 10-day deal from their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. The Sixers had open roster spots after their trade deadline moves.

Bazley was the 23rd pick of the 2019 NBA draft and played 228 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Phoenix Suns. He signed with the Brooklyn Nets during the past offseason but was waived before the season started. He has career averages of 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Report: Brooklyn Nets are waiving Darius Bazley

The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly waiving forward Darius Bazley on Thursday.

The Brooklyn Nets played their final game of the preseason on Wednesday against the Miami Heat and saw some standout performances. However, on Thursday, they had some bad news to share with the rest of the fanbase about a roster move.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Nets are waiving forward Darius Bazley. Bazley had a solid preseason as he shot the ball well from three-point range and showed that his length and athleticism as a big forward was still useful on the defensive end along with displaying some ability to handle the ball and run the floor.

However, it seems that Bazley was in competition with Harry Giles III and Trendon Watford for one of the final spots on the roster in terms of big men. Unfortunately for Bazley, he lost that competition. Charania said in his post that Bazley is expected to draw interest as a free-agent.

3 goals for Nets’ Darius Bazley heading into training camp

With training camp a week away from now, here are three goals for Brooklyn Nets forward Darius Bazley to strive to accomplish.

Brooklyn Nets forward Darius Bazley comes into training camp with a chance to make his way into the rotation as one of the players who could step in if Nic Claxton and/or Day’Ron Sharpe are in foul trouble or are unable to play for some reason.

Bazley spent a good portion of his four seasons in the league as a big man off the bench who can offer a change of pace to who the starter is due to his unique combination of athleticism and versatility on the floor. Bazley is less of a plodding big man and more of a player who brings size while being able to hold his own on the perimeter.

When Bazley signed with Brooklyn this summer, it was a sign that the Nets were heading in the direction of youth and athleticism. With training camp one week away from now, here are three goals for Bazley to achieve if he wants to make an impact for the Nets this season:

Darius Bazley discusses why he signed with the Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn Nets forward Darius Bazley was introduced on Thursday by the team and here are some of his quotes via Lucas Kaplan of NetsDaily.

Darius Bazley signed with the Brooklyn Nets this offseason on a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac. However, Bazley’s path to get to where he is now is one that is more common nowadays, but at the time, seemed to draw national attention for how novel the idea was.

Bazley, like most kids that go on to have fruitful careers in professional basketball, was a five-star recruit along with being a McDonald’s All-American. That meant that he could have went to any school of his choosing before deciding to go to the NBA. Despite initially committing and signing to play at Syracuse, Bazley chose to spend his one year out of high school differently.

Bazley thought that he was going to prepare by way of the G League, but eventually took a different path than that by deciding to spend the year in an internship with New Balance. Months later, Bazley became the 23rd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies who subsequently traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

From there, Bazley, native of Boston, Massachusetts, had a solid four seasons in the league before becoming a free-agent this summer. While his standing within the NBA is undecided at this time, Brooklyn took a chance by signing the young man to be a part of something bigger than himself. On Thursday, Bazley was introduced by the team and he had some interesting things to say about why he came to Brooklyn as written by Lucas Kaplan of NetsDaily:

Report: Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a one-year deal with forward Darius Bazley

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a one-year deal with forward Darius Bazley.

The Brooklyn Nets have been making various moves throughout the offseason with the prior signings of Dennis Smith Jr. and Lonnie Walker IV. While it looked like they were done making moves for the rest of the summer, it looks like they are just beginning.

According to a report by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Nets are finalizing a one-year contract with forward Darius Bazley. Bazley, 23, came into the NBA as the 23rd overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, Bazley did not play a game for the Jazz as he was traded on draft night to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Bazley spent most of his four seasons with the Thunder and has averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1% from the field and 31% from three-point land. For the Nets, Bazley could be the third big man that Brooklyn can turn to if they need additional size outside of starter Nic Claxton and backup center Day’Ron Sharpe.

The 10 best remaining free agents the Boston Celtics can sign

Let’s take a look at some of the best remaining free agents who the Celtics could consider signing.

The Boston Celtics are coming off a disappointing campaign that ended in elimination by the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals just when Boston hoped to get back to the NBA Finals. Since then, team president Brad Stevens has shaken up the roster by bringing on star big man Kristaps Porzingis while letting go of Marcus Smart and Grant Williams.

The team has made depth signings with Oshae Brissett and Dalano Banton, but the Celtics still need to address a few key areas. Chief among them is a point guard able to step into a bigger role if needed, but Boston now also needs depth at the guard, wing, forward, and big positions as well with between one and three roster spots pending team decisions on non-guaranteed players.

Let’s take a look at some of the best remaining free agents who the Celtics could consider signing on minimum deals to such an end.

In this exercise, we have omitted players who will likely earn more than a minimum deal given the Celtics’ proximity to the second apron.

Top five worst draft picks made in OKC Thunder history

Let’s look at the 5 worst draft picks made in OKC Thunder history:

The 2023 NBA draft is getting closer by the day, which means it’s time to look back and review the Oklahoma City Thunder’s short draft history.

Every team has swings and misses with draft picks, but the Thunder do an excellent job at utilizing their premium picks. And, they’ll have another at No. 12 this month.

Let’s look at the five worst draft picks made by the Thunder. For whatever reason, these five players never worked out in OKC.

For simplicity’s sake, this will only include drafts where general manager Sam Presti was the man in charge, which means the Seattle Supersonics will mostly not be in consideration for this exercise.

2022-23 Thunder player grades: Darius Bazley

Handing out a final grade for Darius Bazley’s 2022-23 season.

The 2022-23 Oklahoma City Thunder’s season ended with the play-in tournament loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, which means it’s time for reflection.

Being one of the biggest overachievers in the league, the Thunder finished 40-42 after being predicted by many to have high lottery odds.

Now that the season is in the books, let’s go back and evaluate all 19 players who suited up for the Thunder this past season. Grades will be handed out to every player in terms of what their expectations were heading into the season and how they lived up to them.

The 15th player in this installment is Darius Bazley, whose OKC tenure ended when he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. In a contract year, he played a career-low in minutes with OKC.

Report: Darius Bazley traded to the Suns for Dario Saric, second-round pick

Darius Bazley is on his way to Phoenix.

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Darius Bazley to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Dario Saric and a second-round pick in a move first reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

This was the most anticipated move for the Thunder heading into the trade deadline. Bazley, who is set to enter restricted free agency, has been out of the rotation for the entire season with a career-low 15.4 minutes.

The Thunder acquired a second-round pick and the expiring deal of Dario Saric, who is on a $9.2 million salary this season and will be a free agent this summer.

It’s unknown whether Saric will stay on the Thunder, but I lean that he will and will play a limited role on the team, especially if the Thunder waive Justin Jackson, who they acquired from the Boston Celtics for Mike Muscala.

In 37 games for the Suns, Saric averaged 5.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
