Georgia basketball starting guard enters NCAA transfer portal

Georgia basketball starting guard Christian Wright joins several UGA teammates in NCAA transfer portal

Key Georgia basketball guard Christian Wright has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Wright came to Georgia as a three-star recruit out of Alpharetta, Georgia. Wright played basketball at The Skill Factory and attended Cambridge High School before coming to Georgia.

Wright played in all 32 of Georgia’s games last season. He was one of three players to accomplish that feat.

Wright started 11 games and averaged 22.1 minutes per game. Wright averaged 5.3 points per game and shot 34.8% overall last season. Georgia will miss Wright’s experience.

Georgia basketball’s roster will look significantly different for the 2022-2022 season as the Bulldogs are rebuilding the roster. The process will take time, however.

Head coach Mike White and Georgia basketball have already added Longwood guard Justin Hill via transfer. Hill brings NCAA Tournament experience from his time with Longwood to the Dawgs.

Additionally, several other Bulldogs are in the NCAA transfer portal, including leading scorer Kario Oquendo. Georgia basketball has several roster spots to fill and will likely use the transfer portal to look for replacements.

UGA football great named WR coach at Georgia high school

Former UGA football and NFL WR Reggie Brown joins a a Georgia high school coaching staff.

Reggie Brown had an unforgettable career catching footballs for the University of Georgia. Brown played at Georgia from 2000-2004 and finished his career with 2,008 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

He has now been named the wide receivers coach at Cambridge High School in Milton, Georgia.

Brown was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2005 NFL Draft with the 35th overall pick. Brown led all rookie receivers his first season with 571 receiving yards and was second in receptions with 43.  He spent four great years with the Eagles until injuries and the arrival of DeSean Jackson ended his time in Philadelphia.

He spent a season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before retiring from football.

Now Brown has transitioned to the coaching side of the game.  It was announced Thursday that Brown will be named the new wide receivers coach at Cambridge High.

Brown is from Carrollton, Georgia, which is only an hour and a half away from Cambridge. He played high school ball at Carrollton High School.

There is a lot of football knowledge in the head of Reggie Brown and now he will be passing that down to the next generation.  It’s always good to see former Dawgs becoming coaches and giving back to the future of football.
