Alabama named a finalist to land 2025 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham

One of the top prospects in the Magnolia state released his top schools list on Monday. 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham listed Alabama as one of 12 finalists to land his commitment.

Over the years, Alabama has done an exceptional job of recruiting the state of Mississippi. Now, with a new coaching staff being assembled, it will be important to hone in and prioritize the Magnolia state.

One of the reasons why is 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham. On Monday, Cunningham released his top schools list which included the Crimson Tide.

Cunningham plays for Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds.

Scouting analyst Gabe Brooks of 247Sports provided an evaluation for Cunningham several months ago.

“Unverified size and athleticism, but clearly possesses physical traits and excellent functional athleticism on tape. Know less about him than most other wideouts in the class, but definitely aware that he’s a dynamic basketball player with big production on the hardwood. Translates body control and bounce to ball-winning mismatch effectiveness at wideout. Unstoppable in red-zone situations. Strong-handed in traffic. Runs hard in run-after-catch situations and bowls his way through arm tackles. Long-striding gait that creates necessity for build-up speed. Natural route sense and spatial awareness. Question the top-end athlete from speed and lateral perspectives relative to others in the class, though athletic profile is admittedly excellent with the hoops context. Projects as a high-major impact player with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft consideration.”

Alabama will certainly have their work cut out for them. Schools like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Georgia have each hosted Cunningham for multiple unofficial visits. Needless to say, it will be intriguing to see which schools Cunningham decides to visit in the coming months.

Nation’s No. 2 WR includes Georgia among top schools

Nation’s No. 2 WR includes Georgia football among top schools

One of top prospects in the 2025 cycle, wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, included Georgia among his top 12 schools on Monday.

The Bulldogs have recruited the five-star recruit since he was a freshman in high school and extended him a scholarship offer following a visit to Athens in October 2022.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder plays for Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. Cunningham is rated the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation, the No. 11 overall recruit and the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi, per 247Sports composite.

Cunningham’s on-field production in 2023 is worth noting. He caught 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season.

Cunningham also runs track and plays basketball. The elite wide receiver is a star on the hardwood, averaging 20.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as a sophomore.

Cunningham will choose among Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida State, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma and Florida.

Recruits react on Social Media to Junior Day weekend with Oklahoma Sooners

2025 prospects react on social media to their junior day weekend with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Sooners are off and running in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] with nine commitments as they turn the page on 2024.

Over the weekend, a number of Oklahoma’s 2025 targets made the trip to Norman for their annual junior day. It was an opportunity for the next class of prospects to meet with coaches, tour the facilities, and get a deeper look at Oklahoma football.

It has yielded positive reactions. The Sooners received a trio of Rivals Futurecasts for four-star running back Tory Blaylock and five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham included the Sooners in his top 12 after their visits.

But they weren’t the only ones who enjoyed their visits, here’s how other prospects reacted to their time with the Oklahoma Sooners over the weekend.

Oklahoma included in top 12 for 2025 5-star wide receiver

The Oklahoma Sooners included in the top 12 for 2025 five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham.

The Oklahoma Sooners have done a fantastic job on the recruiting trail since the arrival of Brent Venables. But their wide receiver recruiting took a big step once Emmett Jones joined the fold.

Oklahoma added four dynamic wide receivers in the 2024 cycle and the position had a breakout season in 2023, Jones first season coaching the position for the Sooners.

In the 2025 cycle, the Sooners have already added a trio of commitments at the position in Gracen Harris, Elijah Thomas, and Jaden Nickens. The Sooners are also in the mix for one of the top wide outs in the 2025 cycle, Caleb Cunningham.

On Monday, Cunningham included the Oklahoma Sooners in his top 12 after spending the weekend in Norman. The Ackerman, Miss. native included the Sooners alongside Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU Tigers, Auburn, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

Cunningham is a dynamic two-sport star, showing off incredible athleticism on both the gridiron and the hardwood. As a junior in 2023, he caught 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has great size already and shows off the ability to break away from the defense after the catch. Cunningham’s a sure-handed receiver that catches the ball away from his body.

The Sooners will be in quite the recruiting battle for the No. 2 wide receiver in the country. But given Jones’ success on the recruiting trail and the success of the wide receiver position on the football field in 2023, Oklahoma is well-positioned to add one of the best players in the 2025 recruiting class.

Mississippi State is the prohibitive favorite for Caleb Cunningham.

LSU has already landed the top receiver in the 2025 recruiting class in [autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag], and now it’s looking to add another five-star to join him.

Five-star Choctaw County (Ackerman, Miss.) receiver [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag] recently trimmed his list of schools down to 12, and LSU made the cut. Joining the Tigers are AlabamaAuburnFlorida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Cunningham ranks as the No. 11 player nationally and No. 2 receiver, according to the On3 industry rankings. Mississippi State is the heavy favorite here with multiple high-confidence Crystal Ball projections. The Bulldogs also lead the way on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 87.5%.

Oklahoma is hosting their first Junior Day for the Class of 2025. We’ve compiled a list of the expected or confirmed attendees.

Oklahoma’s recruiting has been borderline elite since Brent Venables took over as Norman’s head man. The three recruiting classes have been well-balanced from top to bottom. Some early lifting and the byproduct of terrific relationships built over the last few years have already paid dividends for this staff. The Sooners already have nine commits for 2025.

Gators turn attention to class of 2025, set up visit with 5-star wideout

The Florida Gators will welcome a 4-star WR recruit from the class of 2025 during visitors day on Feb. 3

With national signing day closing in, the Florida football program already has its eyes set to the class of 2025. The team is kicking off the new year with some good news as it will welcome a highly touted recruit to the UF campus this spring.

According to Swamp247, five-star wide receiver [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag] plans to make an official visit during Gators visitor’s day on Feb. 3.

The Gators have some stiff competition to out-recruit, with Cunningham hailing from Ackerman, Mississippi, a neighboring town to the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The local university is currently the favorite to land Cunningham, per the crystal ball predictions on 247Sports.

Florida initially offered Cunningham back in October 2022 when he was on an official visit to Gainesville. Head coach Billy Napier and Co. have been in constant contact with the young recruit, dating back to August of the same year when coaches were allowed to reach out.

Cunningham is a four-star prospect, although rating as a five-star on the 247Sports composite scale. The Mississippi native ranks at No. 2 among wide receivers and the No. 10 overall recruit in the nation.

Sooners scheduled to host one of the nation’s top wide receivers per report

With Junior Day right around the corner, the Oklahoma Sooners are expected to host one of the nation’s top wide receivers for 2025.

There are several important recruiting dates this spring for the Oklahoma Sooners. The first one on the schedule is their junior day, which will feature some of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class.

One player that’s set to attend is five-star safety Jonah Williams out of Texas. Another high-profile prospect who will make the trip to Norman for Junior Day on January 27 is five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham, according to On3’s Keegan Pope. Cunningham will also be visiting Auburn on Jan. 20 and Florida on Feb. 3. Pope states this will be Cunningham’s first visit to Norman.

Out of Ackerman, Miss., Cunningham is the No. 10 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 1 player in Mississippi.

The Sooners are one of 18 Power Five offers Cunningham has received at this point, with a number of those offers coming out of the SEC. Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida State, Oregon, and Miami are among those pursuing the talented wide receiver.

Currently, the Sooners have four players expected to play wide receiver committed in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag]. Adding a player like Cunningham is a no-brainer if they can win out in his recruitment. It won’t be easy, but Emmett Jones has done a phenomenal job on the recruiting trail since arriving in Norman a year ago.
