See it: Future Notre Dame quarterback pitches five-star defender

Does Notre Dame still have a chance here?

It’s one thing to be verbally committed to a school in college football these days.  It’s another to be an active recruiter for the rest of that school’s recruiting class.

Future Notre Dame quarterback [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] is certainly more than just committed and has no problem at all trying to bring more talent along with him to South Bend.  We’ve seen it in the past when he’s posted photos with other members of the recruiting class, including five-star wide receiver [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag].

He’s now doing it to try and keep one of Notre Dame’s biggest 2024 targets home.  That is of course five-star defensive tackle [autotag]Justin Scott[/autotag].

Notre Dame has seemingly put their foot on the gas in terms of recruiting the Chicagoland area in recent months.  The aforementioned Williams is already committed and is a five-star wide receiver while Scott seemed close to committing at one point.  However, as things stand today it would appear the Irish have their work cut out to land him.

For as close to home as Notre Dame is for Scott, he’s certainly had a difficult time making it to South Bend with any regularity.  As key as his addition to the 2024 class would be, his actions make it seem like the Irish aren’t his top choice.

Stay tuned as I’d love to be wrong about this one.

Check it out: Notre Dame’s top 2024 recruits on campus

Notre Dame’s future quarterback was on campus this week with his future go-to target. Check out the photos here.

A couple of Notre Dame‘s stars of tomorrow were on campus today.   Those being 2024 commitments [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] and [autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag].  The future Notre Dame signal caller took to Twitter to share a few photos from his most recent visit to South Bend.  Although not a guarantee, it certainly seems like both have their future numbers picked out.

Obviously keeping the commitments of a couple of top-50 overall players in the 2024 cycle is important but what is also necessary is having them on campus to help recruit the rest of their class.  Carr has been very vocal about helping recruit more talent to Notre Dame. There is a very long way to go but having a top-six national wide receiver and a top-five quarterback are a couple of pretty good places to start.

Lloyd Carr’s grandson chooses Notre Dame, not Michigan

We can’t love this more. #GoBucks

There are legacy commitments and then there are — well legacy commitments. Former Michigan football head coach Lloyd Carr is woven in the very fabric of Wolverine football, being a longtime assistant and then head coach for 13 seasons.

You would think that would endure a relative of his to think very seriously about attending the school he coached at, but apparently not.

That brings us to this past week. Carr has a grandson who is a blue-chip quarterback in the 2024 class, C.J. Carr. He’s from Saline, Michigan, just a stone’s throw from Ann Arbor. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Carr is ranked as the No. 5 quarterback and 20th overall recruit in the 2024 cycle and holds offers from almost every major school in the country, including TTUN.

However, there’s a glitch in the maize and blue matrix it seems. Instead of choosing his grandfather’s school, the young gunslinging Carr chose former Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman’s squad, Notre Dame.

Yes, that means not only did Carr choose a historical rival to give his verbal to, but he’ll be coached by a former Ohio State player as a head coach.

Of course, Michigan fans are claiming the school didn’t really want Carr, but that’s nothing but a line of bologna. You don’t turn a blind eye to a kid who is the grandson of a former head coach that brought home a national title right in your backyard.

No way, no how.

What might give you even more of a chuckle is seeing Lloyd Carr in a Notre Dame hat.

Michigan may have finally gotten the Ohio State monkey off its back last season, but these types of things just seem to follow Harbaugh and the program around.

The universe seems to be correcting itself, and let’s hope it comes back into perfect alignment on November 26.

Watch: Talking C.J. Carr, Notre Dame recruiting, and 2022 Irish outlook

What record do you think Notre Dame puts up in 2022?

When I sat down to talk about Notre Dame’s most recent quarterback commitment in [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] with Mark Rogers on Friday afternoon I knew something might happen in regards to Notre Dame recruiting at some point, but I wasn’t sure exactly how soon.

Well, it turns out it took less than the hour from our quick discussion drawing to a close that Mark already had things turned around and posted and in that small window Notre Dame received it’s 15th commitment in the 2023 recruiting class in offensive lineman Elijah Paige.

Still, the discussion was fun, featured a few unnecessary jabs at Michigan (kidding, all jabs at Michigan are of course necessary), and some discussion on Notre Dame’s opener at Ohio State as well as the 2022 season as a whole.  Check out the full episode below and click on Mark’s information to see more of the college football content he provides nationally all year round!

Notre Dame Twitter reacts to C.J. Carr commitment

How did you react to the news?

We don’t know what career [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] will have at Notre Dame. For all we know, he’ll turn out to be the biggest quarterback bust in program history. At the moment, this is terrific news for the program. Everyone is so confident in him that [autotag]Brady Quinn[/autotag] showed up during his announcement and flat-out told him to break every program record he currently has.

With such a big commitment to the Irish, it was expected that members of the fandom would take to Twitter to express their delight. Some were simply giddy, and others were analytical. Even [autotag]Tommy Rees[/autotag], Carr’s future offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach had to pile onto the celebration.

All anyone knows is Carr’s first game wearing the blue and gold can’t come soon enough. Yeah, we’ll have to wait a little longer for it, but good things come to those who wait, right? In the meantime, let’s see what Notre Dame Twitter hasd to say about this news:

Notre Dame to soon land five-star quarterback?

Come on down!

Is Notre Dame about to land a commitment from a five-star quarterback that calls the state of Michigan home?

As the college football world awaits a [autotag]Dante Moore[/autotag] decision that Notre Dame is clearly in on, the Irish may be getting some very good news in regards to the 2024 recruiting class this week.  Five-star quarterback [autotag]C.J. Carr[/autotag] of Saline, Mich. just camped at Notre Dame for the Irish Invasion this past weekend and has now announced he’ll be making his college commitment this Thursday.

“I’m excited to get this out there and start recruiting for that school” is what Carr told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

Carr is the grandson of former Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr.  Connecting of the dots following his recent Notre Dame visit should have Irish fans optimistic about where he chooses to play college football.
