Former Michigan State basketball guard Pierre Brooks II announces transfer to Butler

Pierre Brooks II will transfer to Butler

Back on March 29, Michigan State basketball guard Pierre Brooks II announced his transfer from Michigan State basketball. On Sunday, Brooks announced where he will be heading: Butler.

This should be a good fit for Brooks, who is a talented player and showed some promise in flashes for the Spartans.

Brooks averaged 3.6 points per game last year for the Spartans in 14.3 minutes per game.

REPORT: Michigan State basketball reaches out to Butler transfer Jayden Taylor

One of the difficult things about managing a modern college basketball program is finding balance. While Michigan State basketball gears up for the NCAA Tournament, they are also keeping an eye on the NCAA transfer portal.

According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, the Spartans are one of many teams in touch with Butler transfer Jayden Taylor.

Taylor is a 6’4″ guard who scored 12.9 points per game this season with the Bulldogs.

Pete Thamel lists four coaches who could fill Notre Dame opening

Would you like one of these coaches?

Since [autotag]Mike Brey[/autotag] announced his intention to leave Notre Dame in January, various names have floated as his replacement. Our own Nick Shepkowski made his own list of candidates in the immediate aftermath of Brey’s announcement. While it’s nice to keep all options open, it appears the list is starting to narrow down. At least that’s what ESPN’s Pete Thamel said he believes during the most recent episode of College GameDay:

For all we know, this list could be completely bogus with none of the four landing the job. But when you cover college basketball for a living, you’re bound to hear a few whispers about who the next coach might be. For argument’s sake, let’s pretend this list is legitimate and that the search indeed will come down to these four. Then, we can debate as to who would be the best candidate for the Irish for the long haul:

Notre Dame in the Crossroads Classic through the years

The Irish could have fared better during this event.

Notre Dame is set to face Indiana in what will be the final Crossroads Classic at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The four-team event, which includes Purdue and Butler, has been held every December since 2011 but is coming to an end after this season. It’s a pity an event meant to celebrate all things basketball in a state known for the sport will not exist anymore, especially since it hasn’t been around for very long.

However, all things must come to an end, and the time for this one to wrap up is now.

The Irish are 4-6 in the Crossroads Classic, so they will have a losing record all time for the event. Here is how those games have gone:

Notre Dame’s John Michael Bertrand is ACC Pitcher of the Week

Congrats to the southpaw.

Notre Dame knew it was an awesome weekend after it completed a road sweep of Florida State. Now, one of the pitchers who helped make that possible is being honored. Irish lefty John Michael Bertrand has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week. He’s the second Irish pitcher to win that award this season after Austin Temple did so in March.

Bertand took the mound in the opener of the Irish’s three-game series with the Seminoles. His opponent was Parker Messick, the 2021 ACC Pitcher of the Year. That didn’t faze him one bit because he threw 7 2/3 shutout innings while striking out a career-high 12 hitters and allowing only one walk. While he wasn’t able to pick up the win as the game remained scoreless until the 12th inning, he surely gave the Irish the confidence they needed to embarrass the Seminoles on their home field.

The Irish will host Butler on Wednesday before welcoming Clemson to South Bend for three games this coming weekend.
