Watch the clip to see the worst (or at least the funniest) of the Celtics over the last decade and a year.

While it might not be an honor to appear on former Boston Celtics big man Shaquille O’Neal‘s “Shaqtin a Fool” segment on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” a fair number of Boston players making a guest appearance over the years. The segment, for the uninitiated, is effectively the blooper reel of the dumbest, funniest or weirdest things Shaq and company caught on video that week.

Now, YouTuber and Celtics fan videographer Danielle Hobeika put together an all-time compilation of when Celtics players made the show. The list includes Rajon Rondo, Mikael Pietrus, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kris Humphries, Vitor Faverani, Kelly Olynyk, Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, Al Horford, Gerald Green, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

On this day: Boston trades Davis, Wafer for Bass; deals Kappen for Becker

On this day, the Boston Celtics swapped Glen Davis and Von Wafer for Brandon Bass and dealt Tony Kappen for Moe Becker.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, the storied franchise traded champion big man Glen Davis and small forward Von Wafer to the Orlando Magic for power forward Brandon Bass in 2011.

Davis had been picked up by the Seattle Supersonics with the 35th overall pick of the 2007 NBA draft before being dealt to the Celtics with Ray Allen for Jeff Green, Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, and draft assets that same night, winning a title in his first season in the league. Wafer signed with the team as a free agent after having been drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 39th pick of the 2005 draft.

By the time of the trade, Wafer had already played for a number of teams around the league, including the Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Houston Rockets.

Today’s installment focuses on the 14 players who wore No. 30 over the years as of August 2023.

The Boston Celtics have more retired jerseys than any other team in the NBA, but that doesn’t mean the rest of their jerseys have little history of interest tied to them.

In fact, with 17 titles to their name and decades of competitive basketball played in them, their unretired jersey numbers pack in some of the most history not hanging from the rafters of any team in the league. To that end, we have launched our accounting of that history, with every player in every jersey worn by more than one Celtics player in the storied franchise’s history accounted for.

Today’s installment focuses on the 14 players who wore No. 30 over the years as of August 2023.

Seven former Boston Celtics on the move in 2005 redraft

The 2005 class features a healthy cohort of players who would go on to play for the Boston Celtics,

Hoops Hype’s dynamic NBA redraft duo of Frank Urbina and Raul Barrigon are back at their craft. This time they put the magnifying glass to the 2005 class that featured a healthy cohort of players who went on to play for the Boston Celtics, albeit a few only briefly.

With the 2023 NBA draft not far off now, the storied ball club’s front office is doing its best to assess talent in the incoming class of prospective players in the same sort of way Urbina and Barrigon have done with several such drafts, though of course with the invaluable benefit of hindsight.

Let’s take a look at which former Celtics landed where in this revisionist assessment.

On this day: Jones, Heinsohn draft; Russell swap; Rivers hire; Bass born; Tatum gets 60

On this day, Boston drafted Bill Russell, KC Jones, and Tommy Heinsohn, hired Doc Rivers as coach, and saw Jayson Tatum score 60.

On this day in Boston Celtics history, veteran center Ed Macauley and small forward Cliff Hagan were traded to the (then) St. Louis (now, Atlanta) Hawks for the second pick in the 1956 NBA draft, which the Celtics would use to select legendary big man Bill Russell. Boston negotiated from a position of strength; head coach and GM Red Auerbach leveraged his relationship with Hawks owner Ben Kerner — a former employer.

Auerbach convinced Celtics owner Walter Brown to lend the (then) Rochester Royals (now, Sacramento Kings) the Ice Capades for a week. The Ice Capades, also owned by Brown, were one of the most popular attractions filling arenas at that time. Mercifully for Boston, there was no Collective Bargaining Agreement to prevent the Royals, who held the first overall pick, from taking Russell first — the other end of the bargain that got the legendary center to the Celtics.

It was in the same draft that the Celtics also took Dan Swartz, Tommy Heinsohn, and KC Jones.

LSU men’s basketball all-time roster: Tiger Legends

The Tigers have had a surprising amount of talent come through their basketball program over the years

March is upon us, and that means that the madness will also return to us soon.

Unfortunately, LSU (in all likelihood) won’t be participating in the festivities after a rough first season under coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] that featured a 14-game losing streak that lasted from late December until the end of February.

This will be the first NCAA Tournament the Tigers have missed since 2018. Although LSU basketball has, historically, been a bit of an afterthought compared to the more successful football and baseball programs, it’s had a surprising level of consistency.

Aside from several lengthy droughts — most notably in recent years from 1993-00 and 2009-19 (with the exception of 2015) — this team has regularly appeared in the postseason for much of the last several decades, though it is still searching for its first national title. Those teams have, unsurprisingly, featured quite a bit of talent over the years.

With that in mind, we’re taking a crack at piecing together an all-time two-deep LSU basketball roster including one head coach and two assistants. Let’s start things off with the coaching staff, with our first choice likely coming as no surprise.

Brandon Bass to join IT, Joe Johnson on Team USA for AmeriCup qualifiers

The trio of former Celtics will represent the United States in the FIBA competition.

There are now to be three former Boston Celtics playing for the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico later this month according to the Associated Press.

Joining beloved former Celtic floor general Isaiah Thomas and Boston small forward draftee Joe Johnson is former Celtic big man Brandon Bass. Bass is replaying Ivy League player of the year Paul Atkinson after Atkinson tested positive asymptomatically with COVID-19. Their teammates include UConn Huskies alumnus Josh Boone, Treveon Graham, James Nunnally, Dakota Mathias and Jordan Sibert, and play begins on Feb 19 against the Bahamas in Puerto Rico, with a match against Mexico the following day.

Bass played for the Celtics from 2011 to 2015, moving on to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers for his final two seasons in the league before another pair of seasons overseas in China.

On the anniversary of the deal that swapped one for the other (along with Von Wafer), remember their time in Boston with these two clips.

On the anniversary of the trade that sent Boston Celtics champion center Glen Davis to the Orlando Magic for big man Brandon Bass, we thought we would post a pair of videos to remember each of their time with the Celtics.

Davis came to the Celtics in a draft-night deal as part of the package that would bring sharpshooting UConn legend Ray Allen to the team from the Seattle Supersonics (now, Oklahoma City Thunder) as the team assembled the roster that would go on to win Banner 17 in the summer of 2008, playing four seasons for the team before he would be moved to the Magic for Bass.

While Bass would get no ring for his time in Boston, he quickly became a beloved stalwart of the rotation, himself playing four seasons with the Celtics as well.
