2026 5-star safety Bralan Womack enjoyed his visit to Texas A&M

2026 5-star safety Bralan Womack enjoyed his visit to Texas A&M this weekend

Despite Texas A&M’s 2024 season-opening loss to Notre Dame, new head coach Mike Elko’s recruiting chops can’t be denied after his work in the 2025 recruiting cycle, as the program hosted more than 100 prospects during the weekend.

Again, the 2024 team may have lost 23-13 on Saturday night. Still, Kyle Field was rocking, and the overall environment attending an A&M home game offers continues to impact visiting recruits more than the games being played.

With the focus quickly shifting to the 2026 recruiting class, one of the weekend’s priority visitors included 2026 5-star safety Bralan Womack. After his weekend in College Station, Womack spoke with 247Sports’ Tom Loy about his meeting with Elko and A&M cornerbacks coach Ishmael Aristide after the game.

“I met with coach Elko and coach Ish after the game,” Womack stated. “We talked about some key plays that the defense left out there. The offense couldn’t really pull out that big play to get them going.”

Concerning what Kyle Field had to offer on game day, Womack stated that Texas A&M’s staff took care of him and his family. While he spoke with multiple fans who made him feel at home, he felt the staff made him feel like the high-priority prospect he is.

According to 247Sports Composite, Womack is currently the 24th-ranked prospect, the No. 2-ranked safety prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Mississippi.

A Notre Dame priority target will be on the other sideline this weekend

We’ll this isn’t ideal but at least he gets to see the Irish too

Notre Dame football hosted Mississippi safety [autotag]Bralan Womack[/autotag] over the summer and offered him a scholarship.

When that happened, it looked like the Irish were in the driver seat of his recruitment, but that might not be the case anymore. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pound star has since been to multiple other campuses and this weekend he will see Notre Dame, but from Texas A&M’s sidelines.

The nation’s No. 24 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings does have the Irish among his top schools, but they have seemingly slipped behind a few programs. For Notre Dame to seriously get back in it, they’ll have to get him on campus this fall.

As of this moment, there is no known plan for Womack to return to South Bend, but there is plenty of time for the coaching staff to set a visit up.

Is Notre Dame fading in 5-star ‘26 safety Bralan Womack’s recruitment?

Well, this was unexpected news for the Irish

Notre Dame football received great news last week when 2026 5-star Mississippi safety [autotag]Bralan Womack[/autotag] trimmed his list down to ten schools, with the Irish advancing.

With two 247Sports Crystal Ball picks logged for the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings in favor of Notre Dame, this was a net positive development. One of the picks was made by Tom Loy, a former Irish insider and 247Sports current National Recruiting Analyst.

While speaking on their YouTube channel, he named Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M and Notre Dame in that order if he were to predict how Womack is ranking the teams currently. Loy says that “although his 247Sports Crystal Ball is on Notre Dame, I just don’t feel as confident as when he once named them his public leader.”

There is still a good amount of time for Notre Dame to make up the ground that it has lost this summer. It’s not the greatest position to be in right now, according to Loy, but the Irish are still in the conversation.

Alabama makes Top 10 for 2026 5-star safety

The Crimson Tide make the Top 10 for the elite safety.

Released on Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide were included in the Top 10 list for one of the nation’s premier safeties, Bralan Womack.

Alongside the Crimson Tide, the remaining programs included in Womack’s Top 10 were the Louisville Cardinals, LSU Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Womack is considered as the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as well as the No. 3 safety in the cycle. A five-star prospect, Womack is also ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi, attending Hartfield Academy.

There, Womack was a two-way standout for one of Mississippi’s top teams a year ago at the high school level, catching 10 touchdown passes alongside his 26 tackles recorded and seven INT’s on the defensive side of the ball.

Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class currently holds only one commitment at the moment.

Huskers make Top 10 for 2026 4-star safety

The Huskers are in the running for a talented Mississippi safety.

Nebraska football made the top ten list for 2026 four-star safety Bralan Womack. He announced his list on Saturday afternoon.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Womack is the top safety in the 2026 class and the second-best player in his class from Missouri.

Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, and LSU are the other schools vying for Womack. The Huskers offered him on June 24, and the Longhorns most recently offered him on July 25.

Womack has had a successful high school career. He played both sides of the football for Hartfield Academy in Mississippi, doing double duty at the free safety and wide receiver positions.

As a sophomore, he recorded 26 tackles in 13 games. He also recorded seven interceptions and a fumble recovery, per statistics from MaxPreps.com.

Womack was equally as effective on the offensive side of the ball. He made his most significant impact at receiver, where he recorded 32 receptions for 562 yards and ten touchdowns last season.

The Huskers certainly have an uphill battle, especially with some of the other listed schools in the mix. However, this coaching staff has shown they will be aggressive on the recruiting trail. It isn’t easy to count this staff out for anybody.

2026 5-star DB out of Flowood (MS) has placed Texas A&M in his Top 10

One of the top defensive back propsects in the 2026 class has included Texas A&M in his Top 10 program list

When Texas A&M hired Mike Elko to replace long-time head coach Jimbo Fisher, some questioned whether Elko could match Fisher’s recruiting success. However, if the Aggies’ 2025 cycle is of any concern, the new regime has things back on track.

As the focus shifts to the 2024 season, A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is beginning to lay the groundwork for next summer. It has already landed two defensive prospects, 3-star safety Markel Ford and 3-star cornerback Ryan Gilbert, as Elko’s defensive background continues to play a huge role on the recruiting trail.

Looking to land another blue-chip prospect in the secondary this cycle, 2026 5-star safety Bralan Womack has released his top 10 program list, which includes Texas A&M, as the Mississippi native is by far one of the most versatile secondary prospects in the class.

Within his list, Texas A&M joins Notre Dame, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas, and LSU.

On the field, Womack has played wide receiver on offense while returning punts, consistently showing off his speed and impressive hands. In contrast, his understanding of wide receiver routes bodes well once he moves to cornerback or safety at the next level.

According to 247Sports, Womack is currently the 32nd-ranked prospect in the class, the No. 1-ranked safety prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Mississippi.

Mississippi 5-star 2026 safety names Notre Dame and others in his top group

Not much of a surprise here, but still good to see

There has been plenty of smoke between 2026 Mississippi safety [autotag]Bralan Womack[/autotag] and Notre Dame football, so it wasn’t surprising when the star cut his list down to ten schools and the Irish were included.

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pound defender also has Texas A&M, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Alabama, Nebraska, Tennessee, Louisville, Texas and LSU along with the Irish competing for his commitment.

As the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect and 3rd ranked safety according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Womack is clearly one of the top players in the country. His recruitment is seemingly leaning towards Notre Dame, as the 247Sports Crystal Balls show that with two predictions for the Irish.

Womack made multiple visits to different schools over the summer, with a stop in South Bend being one of them. The Irish are in a great spot in his recruitment.

Texas Longhorns offer to star safety in 2026 class

The Hatfield Academy High School star is ranked as the 26th-best player in his class and the top safety in the nation by 247Sports

On Thursday, the Texas Longhorns extended a scholarship offer to safety Bralan Womack, who is in the 2026 class. The Hatfield Academy High School star is ranked as the 26th-best player in his class and the top safety in the nation by 247Sports. If the Longhorns can land Womack, they would add a potential game-changing player to their secondary.

While the Longhorns have clarified their interest, they are not the only program hoping to land Womack. Other schools that have made offers include the Alabama Crimson Tide, Louisville Cardinals, Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Mississippi State Bulldogs. As he dazzles scouts with his talent, offers should continue to flow in.

Although Womack’s final decision is still months away, he enjoyed his time in Austin. In a post on X, Womack said, ” After a great conversation with Coach Sark, I am extremely blessed to receive an offer from the University of Texas! #HookEM.”

As the Longhorns continue to build for the future, adding Womack would figure to be at the top of their list. He can lockdown elite receivers and make life hard for opponents’ offenses. That trait is something the Longhorns lacked last year.

Until Womack picks a school he will be one prospect that is closely watched with many in Texas hoping that his college career starts in Austin.

Ohio State football offers 2026 5-star safety after impressive camp showing

The Buckeyes offer one of the nations best 2026 prospects. #GoBucks

Ohio State football has been hosting camps this week, and sent out multiple offers after some great performances.

One of those players to earn an offer was 2026 Mississippi safety [autotag]Bralan Womack[/autotag], who is currently touring Midwest schools. Earlier in the week, the 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pound star was offered by Notre Dame after one of its camps.

Shortly after the Irish offer, Womack received two crystal balls to them, but that clearly was before the Buckeyes stepped up with theirs. It could turn out to be a Midwest battle for the nations No. 21 overall prospect and 3rd rated safety according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

With the way Ohio State has recruited the secondary, you can’t could them out of any recruitment for the position going forward. Hopefully Tim Walton still has some recruiting magic left after multiple impressive hauls over the last few cycles.

Key Notre Dame Target Lands Ohio State Offer

The name Bralan Womack will be a huge one in the 2026 college football recruiting cycle and another powerhouse program just offered him.

Last weekend saw Notre Dame play host to several prospects as part of their Irish Invasion visits and one of the standouts to receive a scholarship offer was 2026 safety [autotag]Bralan Womack[/autotag] of Mississippi.

It’s early, but Womack rates as one of the nation’s top safeties in the 2026 cycles by various different outlets.  Shortly after announcing his scholarship offer from Notre Dame, multiple national recruiting analysts gave crystal ball predictions for him to ultimately commit to the Fighting Irish.

As expected, there will be big-time competition to land Womack’s commitment.  On Wednesday, Womack announced that Ohio State had offered him a scholarship.

Womack recently mentioned to Irish Breakdown that the programs that have him impressed him the most so far as well as Notre Dame are Ohio State, Alabama, Louisville, and Georgia.
